Ticket value still apply to AP renewal?

Can you still apply an unused ticket to a Plat AP renewal? I did some searching here and it doesn't appear anything has changed but this is a lot of money so I wanted to double check with the experts!

Also, do you recommend doing this in person or over the phone? I'm going to WDW in Sept within my 60 day pre-expiration window (Plat AP expires early Nov) so I'm thinking swinging by guest services at some point might be easier than battling the Disney phone system. My thinking: I have a long trip in Nov around Thanksgiving so I'll buy a ticket now for that trip and lock down my park reservations, then during my Sept trip apply that ticket to a renewal of my AP.

My sister had an unused ticket and she was able to apply the value when she purchased an annual pass. She did it at a ticket window on her first park day.

I recently emailed Disney AP Info because my APs expire during my December trip. Because that is more than 60 days out, I can't renew my APs, yet, and therefore I can't make theme park reservations. They wouldn't do anything about letting me renew earlier or extending my AP expiration date by a few days. But they did suggest this as a work-around:

"Another option would be to purchase daily tickets for your December trip and once you reach 60-days out you can call and upgrade those tickets to your renewal passes."

I haven't done this yet, but assuming they didn't lie to me, then yes, you can apply the value of an unused ticket towards an AP renewal. I'm not sure it is worth the hassle, but I'll be very disappointed if I'm shut-out of some theme parks at the 60 day point.

I decided I’m going to do this in mid-September and I will try to remember to report back to this thread :)

Did it yesterday. I tried at TTC ticket booth but they said I had to go to Guest Relations. Lucky me, no line at MK GR that morning! I was able to apply my ticket to my renewal (I was 60 days out from expiration) and pay the balance with a gift card, easy!

I think the slowness at MK was due to it being a party day, park was practically dead for the first hour.
