I currently have a 5 day MYW ticket that I would like to upgrade to a Gold Annual Pass. No problem there if that were it but there is a timing issue so get the most out of the Annual Pass which causes this question.

Here is my complicated question, well at least for me hopefully not for you on the Disboards.

I would like to wait until the final day of our current trip in February to upgrade to the Gold Annual Pass so that I can use the Annual Pass on the expiration date 2017 before our Disney Cruise. However I need the hopper option for this trip. Can I upgrade on day one of my upcoming trip to a hopper ticket then at the end of the trip upgrade again to a Gold Annual Pass? Also, when I upgrade to the Annual Pass it comes with Memory Maker would all the photo’s from this trip be included?

I recognize that I should use the ticket before the upgrading.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

The expiration date of the AP will be back dated to the date you first used the MYW ticket, so waiting will not gain you any days on the AP.

Thanks that's what I needed to know.

Yeah, if you want to upgrade, you should do it the first day you use the ticket, not the last. You need 1 remaining day in order to upgrade the ticket I believe. We did this with UT tickets in December. Saved us $29 per person by using the UT ticket first.

You can upgrade on the last day of your ticket use, just not after that even if you are within the 14 days you originally had to use the entire ticket.

One reason to wait to upgrade to a gold AP could be due to blackout dates. If your trip falls within any of those then you'd want to use the ticket and then upgrade either when past the blackout dates or else on your last day.

Does anyone know if the special DVC (25th Anniversary) tickets can be converted (to add extra days or add Hopper option)?

So we upgraded in December and ours got backdated to our first day of using the tickets. I have heard that some get their passes dated for the day they upgrade. So it might be worth trying.

Photo pass photos were on our account from our first day. I have heard that some didn't get the free downloads till the day they upgraded so it seems that it varies.

Setting the AP expiration date is a manual process when upgrading from partially used MYW tickets. The CM is supposed to check the history of the MYW ticket and based the expiration date on the first use of the MYW tickets. Some CMs don't do this step correctly.
