I might decide to do one or more park days before/after a cruise.
I'd buy a 1 day ticket to begin with. Then go on the cruise. Then decide if I want to add a day or two in the parks.
Those pre and post cruise nights are booked onsite (DVC).
Since I'll have to link that 1-day ticket to MDE (to be able to pre-book FP), and that it becomes unreassignable after that, it should be upgradeable, correct? The whole point of not being able to upgrade after the last entitlement use is to prevent resale of tickets. But tickets linked to someone's MDE account couldn't be resold anyway, right?
According to CF's ticket sticky:
"In addition, effective August 1, 2011, if you have used all of your entitlements on a ticket the last day of use of entitlements is also the last day that you can do any sort of upgrade. So if you had a four day ticket and your fourth day of use was a Friday, from Saturday onward you cannot do any upgrade even though it is within the 14 day period. Note this does not apply to to tickets on the KTTW or to multi-day Florida Resident Tickets; in these cases the Guest name is preprinted on the ticket and they may add days after the last entitlement is used as long as they have a photo ID that matches the name preprinted on the ticket."

. I'm DVC, so no way to buy the tickets as part of a package. And I should have specified that I'd get hoppers.
