We are planning a trip for January with my BIL and SIL and their children. They haven't been since 2007 and bought non expiring tickets then. Being that it is almost 10 years ago they can't remember whos ticket is which (of course they didnt sign the back) Can they call disney and read the numbers on the back to them and they will tell them whether its my BIL or SIL? They would like to do their fasspasses. I understand how to put them onto their account but am afraid if I put say my SIL ticket under my BIL or am I overthinking this?

I'd call and explain and see if they can confirm which ticket belongs to which person. That being said I don't think linking them to the wrong account in DME will cause any issues since both will be there at the gate so it could get taken care of there.

It simply does not matter by whom those old tickets were used.
Just connect either of the tickets to either of the guests in MyDisneyExperience.
When they enter the gates for the first time (this trip) with those old tickets,
the tickets will become reassigned a new finger-scan of whomever is using them.

Just a heads up, you may not be able to link those old tickets to a MDE account for FP booking prior to getting to a park or guest relations. I had a multi-day no expire ticket from 2012 that was old media (not an RFID card). It did not have a number on it that MDE could understand. I tried following all the suggestions...calling, emailing a picture of the ticket and a picture of my ID, etc. and ultimately they said that the ticket could not be linked as-is to MDE. I first had to exchange that ticket for a new RFID ticket. There was no cost or anything, it really was just a case of taking the old card and transferring the entitlements left on it to a new card, but it had to be done down at Disney. Only then could I link the ticket to MDE. So, for that trip, our first after the introduction of FP+, I was unable to book FPs for myself ahead of time. The RFID card tickets were introduced I think in 2013, so if their tickets are from 2007, you may run into this.

They will not be able to make FP+ selections until they go to guest services and have their old tickets exchanged for new RFID tickets.
After they have been exchanged then just put in the ticket numbers and assign the tickets to each of them.

My parents had to exchange their non expiration date tickets from 2007 when they went last year.
I created an account for them and they read me the ticket numbers and iI linked their tickets and made their FP+ for them from 2,000 miles away. :)

Just wanted to let everyone know I called yesterday and was told exactly what pp have said. I said something along the lines of even tho they are staying on property and have tickets they are out of luck with fast passes. She said yes and we'll if you want I can connect you to someone who could maybe help. (Of course I said yes) I got the most helpful cast member I have had in a long time. He connected all three tickets and even when one was giving him a hard it seemed to look at it as a challenge. I made all their fast passes yesterday!

I was going to say that I made my FP+ reservations with my old ticket numbers. It's the same ticket, it just didn't have the electronic thingies that worked inside the park. So when I got there I simply went up to the ticket window and exchanged them for the new type and within 4 minutes I was on my way to the gate. Everything worked really well. No problem at all. When you go on-line to put in your ADR's or FP's you just use the Ticket serial number that is on it and it connects just like the new ticket would.

I'm so glad you were able to get them linked and make FP+.
I wonder if them being able to do it by phone is new because when my parents tried last year they said they had to go to guest relations.

Like so very many things like this, it just depends on WHO you reach on the phone.

So if I have a no expiring ticket from yrs ago, it will not work for booking FP+ until I stop at guest services and exchange it??

Do I need to use it then, at the time of exchanging?
I have a 10 day with 5 days left but my next trip is 9 days so I was just going to buy a new ticket. If I bring the old ticket with me, could I exchange it and bring it home to use next yr or the yr after for example??

1. If you want to book FP+ in advance, you must have a valid ticket linked to your MDX account.

2. Nope.

3. Yes.
