Hi,
We booked a room only for 3 nights without any tickets and a 5 night package (split stay) with a travel agent. Now we want to add a one day ticket to our room only portion. Can we just buy the tickets ourselves and add them to MDE? I do not want to turn the first part into a package. Thanks!

You can buy separate tickets, but you can also add days onto the tickets from your package, activate the tickets, and use them up to three days prior to the start of your package.

There are some trade-offs: It's ALOT cheaper to add days to a ticket rather than purchasing a new ticket, however booking fastpasses will be impacted, as I recall- if you go the single ticket route, you'll only be able to book FPs 60 days prior to the start of the second part of your stay.

There aren't alot of discounts on one-day tickets.

SteveMouse beat me to it before I hit "Post Reply".

The cost to add one day to your package (average of +$15 more per ticket) is a small faction of the cost of a 1-day non-PH ticket ($110-130 dollars depending on season). You can activate your package tickets up to 10* days before check-in on your package stay.

*edit (I thought it was 10, should have taken more time to double-check, fixed it now)

BTW, yes you could...but it would be throwing away $100 or more per ticket in your case.

Your TA can call and have a day added onto your tickets in the package for a minimal cost.

60 days out from your room-only stay, your FP booking window will open but you'll only be able to book FPs for your park days during the package stay.

When you arrive at the resort, you can have your packaged tickets activated and then book FPs for that first park day. Package tickets can now be activated up to 10 days prior to the start of your package stay.

Thank you, my TA said I could not add a park ticket for use with my room only! We have "group" tickets (maybe this is why)?

What kind of group tickets? If they are youth group tickets (performing arts, cheerleading, sports), then your TA is correct. They cannot be upgraded or changed in any way.

But those are never part of a package, so I'm not sure what you have. Could you clarify?

Yes, it was part of a deal (not allowed to say on here) so they are group and convention tickets.

Also, we only have 2 day plus WP now as we visit annually and we are planning less park time this trip! I'm not too concerned with the cost as its only a bit more to buy a one day ticket vs adding to my two day ticket. I was just making sure that if I buy the one day ticket I can link it with my room only since the travel agent booked my room only.

Why do you need/want to link it to your room only? Why not just add it as a ticket to your MDE?

Tickets are linked to specific people listed in your MDE account. Once they are linked, you can book FPs based on the # of entitlements.

Tickets are not linked to room reservations when not a package. If you buy one-day tickets, just link them up to the correct people.
