I looked through the thread, but couldn't find the answer.

I have an adult 8 day park hopper ticket I purchased from Undercover Tourist in 2006. I have never used it. If I use it for an upcoming trip, the trip will only be about 4 days. How much does it cost and how do I upgrade it to non expiring?

Thank you

You just go to any ticket booth and ask for the non-expiring upgrade.

Do so only AFTER using the ticket at least once to enter a park.

It will cost $195 (plus tax) to add the non-expiring option.

BTW, make sure that you will be able to cover your next trip(s) with just the four days remaining
on your ticket. If not, then you may just want to let your other 4 days expire on this trip and not do
the upgrade.

Another choice is to add 2 more "days" and/or the "Water Parks Fun and More" upgrade, and/or the Hopper upgrade to your existing ticket if you want to make it non-expiring.

Why?

Do the math as to what it will cost vs. what it's worth over multiple trips.

It can get very complicated.

HERE is a price list of ticket costs.

First, it cannot be emphasized enough that you must use that ticket thru a turnstile first, before doing any upgrade. That will bring the value of your ticket up to current, 2012 ticket prices. Otherwise, any upgrade you do, you will have to pay the difference in ticket value from 2006-2012.

At today's ticket price (excluding tax), your 8-day MYW PH ticket is worth $275 + $55 (PH) = $330. You plan to use 4 days and add non-expire option to save the remaining 4 days. Disney ticket prices are front-loaded. The first few days cost the most. After Day 4, extra days only cost $8. Your cost for the first 4 days of that ticket is $243 + $55 (PH) = $298. If you just let the last 4 days expire, you have lost $32. If you buy the non-expire option for those last 4 days, you spend $195 (they charge for the full 8 days of your ticket, not how many days are left).

IMO, I would just use the first 4 days of the ticket and let it expire. OR, upgrade the ticket to a 10-day ticket ($8 + $8 = $16) and add the non-expire option to that (10-day = $225). Then you would have 6 days remaining for one or two future trips.

It was suggested that you add the Water Park Fun & More option if you are considering adding non-expire. This is a great idea, because on your 8 day ticket, you would have 8 of these entries that would never expire.

Thank you for the replies. However, I'm more confused then before!! LOL

So my 8 day park hopper pass I should either use it for 4 days and let it expire or use it for 4 days and upgrade it to 10 day non expiring at a cost of $255? Did I follow correctly?

Yes. but to REALLY maximize the value, add on the WPF&M option for another $58, bringing your total upgrade cost to $313. This will then give you TEN ADDITIONAL water park/disney quest entries to use EVEN AFTER ALL 10 MAJOR PARK DAYS HAVE BEEN USED. The cost for a 1 day water park pass is $45 give or take. This gives you the flexibility to add on a water park day (or two) to future vacations down the road at a much lower cost than paying out of pocket or upgrading FUTURE tickets to waterpark fun and more.

Those are two of the options.

There are many more.

The reason we can't answer more directly is that we don't know what your future WDW travel plans entail.

Each option requires math work to show what is a "bargain" and what will just "cost you money..."
without offering a good return on your ticket investment.

Non-expiring tickets are not always a wise investment.

You must do the math based on your travel plans.
