I have a question, we have purchased the 5 day bonus pass, and now I am thinking that we should have bought the discounted AP pass(the one with blackout dates). Is there anyway to upgrade at the gate? Thanks.......

You can upgrade it. You can do it at Guest Services or at the Pass Processing Center.

I have a different question about the Bonus Pass. We're planning to go to Universal in November. Should I buy 5-day Bonus Passes while they're available for what seems like an exceptional value ($89.95 adult and $76.95 child), or will an equally good deal be available later in the year?

The Bonus Pass is a great deal and if it works for your plans I would not hesitate to buy it now. You never know when it will go bye-bye! 5 days for the price of 2 is about as good as it gets. This deal has been around a while already.
