Ticket Prices Increasing June 12th!

Ok, I"m trying to think of a way to avoid the price increase for Premier APs. Since they're activated by purchasing in person, what if we purchased regular or premium WDW APs online at the current price and then upgrade them to Premier APs when we get to WDW in Sept.? Could that be done? We didn't want to activate our passes until September.

That should work for a WDW ticket upgrade (not a DL ticket upgrade), as long as you use the ticket first before upgrading. The CM is then supposed to "bridge" it to the current price when upgrading. So you still need to pay the difference between the new higher price AP and the new higher price Premier, but this is better tha the difference between what you already paid and the new higher priced Premier.

For WDW tickets, see the FAQ sticky in the Theme parks board written by CM ChesireFigment.

Best of luck -- Suzanne

It's a $20 discount

While the DVC APs currently have a $20 discount, you cannot buy it online. However, with the DAP going up $50 and the PAP going up $40, you may be better off buying a voucher today than waiting to buy an AP in the future with the $20 disocunt. -- Suzanne

We are going in Novemeber for 3 days; I'm thinking I should buy our Hoppers now. My issue is my friend can sign 3 of us in on the days we meet her. Maybe I will just buy the little kids their tickets? But I'm also looking at that Costco deal.

Is there a Costco deal that is not tied to a socal zip?

Each of our family members is on a different renewal cycle. It's just how it has worked out. We are lucky in that my wife and I just renewed our yesterday morning! My DDs expires July 1, so I guess we're going down to do that one today. The other kids in our house are just out of luck I guess.

It's great to have a heads up, but wow this is short notice.

I suppose with the way the parks have been so crowded they figured that upgrading the prices was a pretty easy thing.

Same with us on the renewal cycles, except our only pass currently within a renewal window is the one we're not actually planning on renewing. Figures!

I'd love to see the stats on what month most AP's expire. Here's why... I think it's pretty darn sneaky of them to bump the renewal date from August to June. That's just long enough that those who have September, August and even late July renewal dates (likely because they timed their passes to get in before previous price increases) can't take advantage of the $20 renewal discount now. Grrrr!

I am beyond fuming right now!!!!:mad::mad: I called my local Disney Store to make sure they had Deluxe APs before I drove over there. CM said they don't carry them.

Okayyyyyy no biggie. So I figure I'll just buy them online. I put the annual passes in my cart on Disney.com and fill out all the info (names, addresses etc). When I go to pay there is no where to put the Disney Visa rewards card #?????? So I figure well, I'll just call and do it over the phone. so I called Disneyland ticketing and CM the same thing- that you can only use your Rewards towards tickets at the park, not online or over the phone!!!

I've got $450 towards our annual passes that I've been saving for a year now and I can't use them without paying the extra $200 when we get there in October!!!

I can't figure out how to do this today?? Other than jumping in the car and driving from Arizona:scared1: Gas and a hotel stay alone would eat up the $200 savings- UGH!

My understanding is the bridge in pricing does not apply to existing APs, only WDW tickets. The PP is better off buying WDW tickets from UT or Mapleleaf, activating those, then upgrading to Premier or Premium AP at WDW (depending on what they want).

OK...in case anyone cares. We went down to Guest Relations at DLR today (the windows next to the exit). They said no. There is no way to buy a voucher if you are physically at DLR, only APs. Since we have active APs, we cannot buy a Deluxe pass at today's prices and add my DVC discount.

BOOO.

Disney Dreams--you were asking me a few pages back when my stupid old APs expire. They expire Sept. 18th...so CM said we can't renew until Aug. 6th.

Booo.

To add to my ticketing nightmare I just transferred all my reward money this morning thinking that I was buying APs today and now those dollars expire the end of the year.

I was thinking maybe I'd just go ahead and buy the passes with my credit card and use the $$ to buy our food for our next 4 trips but the money expires before we will do all our trips. We only have 1 planned this year and 3 next year!!!

I am so confused on what to do..... Can you buy gift cards with Disney reward $$ and can you use those gift cards to buy APs over the phone??

I need some serious advice here. HELP!

Of course it would take some trust on both sides, but what about charging your passes today (racking up even more reward dollars ;)) and then finding someone who would pay cash for your reward card. Even if you let them have it at a slight discount, to make the deal more enticing for them, you'd come out ahead. Just a thought.

That's good to hear, at least for me. While somewhere on dl.com is said you could renew an AP 40 days before it's anniversary, I can't find it anymore. Yesterday on the Disney blog someone asked about the renew period and it was answered with 1 month. That made me think they had dropped the 40days down to 1 month. But at least what the CM told you is 40days so that can help us a bit.

Sounds like you have worked hard to save money for this trip. Don't give up. I don't know how reward dollars work, but could you buy gift cards and then use the gift cards online to purchase the AP vouchers? I would speak with a human and make sure each step works before doing it.

It's 40 days.

OMG!! I am dancing around right now!! I called back to see if they would accept Disney gift cards for payment to APs. The young man I talked to said, of course.... let me transfer you to the AP center so you can make your purchase.

I wasn't actually ready to purchase them yet since I still had to go down to the Disney store and buy the gift cards with my Rewards Visa $$. But I said okay figuring I would double check with the next CM that came on the line. So she came on and I asked if I could buy Deluxe APs with my Rewards Visa and she said, of course!!! I almost jumped for joy right there!!

The first CM I talked to this morning must not have known what she was talking about. Then again she didn't work in the AP center either so she probably just didn't know.

I got off the phone and did a little WHOOP! And screamed and danced! I was so excited. The transaction went thru flawlessly and it worked out just the way I wanted it to all these months of saving!!:cool1:

The lesson here is to try and try again because sometimes you may get wrong information. ;)

Thanks for the advice guys!

YAY! And yes, for anyone else reading this in a similar dilemma, speak with the AP Processing Center, NOT the operator, NOT city hall. AP Processing Center.

kkmcan, glad all your saving and planning worked out :cheer2:!

I have purchased gift card with my Disney rewards $$. I did it because my rewards card was going to expire before my next trip. I bought them online. You won't recieve them in time to buy the APs but they'll last for future trips :wizard:

Hope this helps :hippie:

I know that the Premier Passport was $700 ($723 with tax) and now is $749 - does anyone know if that is with or w/out tax? I think that might have just pushed me back to just keeping my regular pass and buying park hoppers for my DL visit. Bummer.

Be sure to include the discounts you'll get into the equation. Food AND merchandise discounts can add up at Disneyland.

I find the fact that DL tickets now have park hopper prices for tickets over 2 days strange. So now they are charging for park hopping on multi day tickets. Since DCA is not yet a "full park" I am rather shocked about that. I can see making this change in 2012 when DCA updates are completed.

DCA isn't a full park? Huh. To us it's just about *better* than Disneyland Park.
Why couldn't they raise the rates in Aug like they normally do. I mean it hasn't even been year since they last raised the rates. That really bites!

They haven't always raised them in August at all. In 2007 the price increased in later September. I remember because it was the day after we upgraded to APs and I breathed a sigh of relief after, when I found out about the price increase.

I upgraded to annual passes in 2007 and at that time they gave the current ticket price as the price of the upgrade (after I had activated the tickets).....Is it definite that you will only get the price you paid for the ticket in the upgrade once the ticket is activated?

If that happened to you at Disneyland, you got pixie dust. DLR's policy is that you lose your discount when you upgrade. They use what you paid as the value, vs WDW's policy of using current value (as long as you use the ticket first AND have a CM who actually knows the policy).

I have access to the deal but it expires before we go. There is also the 3 day Hopper for $139 for So Cal residents but don't know when the tickets expire. I may go ahead and buy two of our needed Hoppers now.
