Ticket Price Increased 8/3/2008

Would this mean that if I have a package reserved, but not fully paid for, that I would have to pay the price increase? Our trip dates are 12/28-1/3.

Should I pay it off quick before the price increase?

If you have a package that has been "priced" and you do not many any CHANGES in it, the price will not increase.

Wouldn't it be nice to hear, "hey everyone, we know the economy is really bad with high gas prices, food prices, that WDW has decided to drop prices 3% from last year's package prices and tickets.

:cloud9: That would be a nice "magical moment" for everyone purchasing a ticket. However, I'm NOT holding my breath. ;) Our local Six Flags is letting everyone in for the child's price. Doesn't Universal have a special promotion deal for the two parks right now? Why can't Disney give us a break too? :headache:

We plan to buy DS2 an AP for our September trip (he'll be 3 by then). I'm not sure whether I should purchase him a voucher now or wait until September? Are the AP prices expected to go up this weekend too??? Also, we are DVC Members and get a discount on AP. Would their price go up too?

So...Did the prices change this morning or not? :rolleyes1

The tix I need (Typhoon Lagoon, DQ) didn't change yet. Even if they change this weekend, looks like you can't buy those types in advance (unless part of Magic Your Way tix).

can someone please answer this ?? i have 1 day MYWPH with Free dining & hotel for 3 of us-- i know my one daughter & I will need to add 3 more days-- but my other DD will be living in Orlando by then and we're not sure of her new work schedule-- will i be able to increase my tix @ the rate i paid or will i be paying the increased rate [at checkin on 9/4] thanks in advance :worship:

They didn't'. And they won't...

Til the announcement on Friday.. about ticket prices increasing on Sunday.

I understand that this is a rumor, isn't it? Would this situation mean that we could buy tickets on Saturday for the old price, even if new prices would be already announced since Friday? TIA

I would like to know this as well... For financial reasons, I have purchased only a 1 day ticket for the both of us for our trip in Sept. The trip is paid off, but I will need to upgrade to a 5 day with park hopper when we get there....:confused3

I can't be certain, but I would think you would be paying whatever the price is at the time of upgrade. I can't imagine them looking at the date you bought the ticket and then going back to figure out what the price was at that time.

I bought my base tickets last week after hearing about the increase. I am still undecided about hoppers but I am assuming that if I do decide I need them I will be paying the increased price for them.

Hmmm, well I figured he was wrong cause I'd read so often of others who had done that, so, I thought I'd bring it up here and see what others had to say. Thanks!

Okay, I have a question now. I'm confused. I made my ressie on Sun evening. I wanted to do a room/ticket package, but also wanted to use my AAA for the discount, in case nothing else came along. But found out I can only do room only, not package. So, when he advised my of rising ticket prices soon, I bought my 10 day tickets then also and used the AAA on the room. He said I'd be able to apply a discount if one came out, not have to cancel. But, reading this thread has me confused and a bit worried. :scared1: If a package discount does come out, will I be able to use it? Or will I have to buy another whole set of tickets with it? I'm afraid I may have jumped to buying the tickets too soon and may miss the package with tickets now. :scared: Can I cancel my ticket order to get a package discount with my room when it comes out? If the new ticket price isn't too bad, and the discount is good, is it worth it to cancel the tickets if they'll let my? Is the discount on a room only smaller than a discount on package of room/tickets? Or would they take my room ressie, take the AAA rate off and then combine the room with the tickets I've already bought? I'm very confused now. Maybe I shouldn't have made my ressie already now? I was just worried I might not end up with any room and I've had my air since late May.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Sorry to be so

To book a package with a AAA discount, you must do so directly through AAA. To book a room only with AAA, you may do so yourself directly with Disney. You purchased tickets and booked a AAA discounted room only ressie—not a package. To have a package you must purchase at least a one day ticket with your room. Exception: you may add dining only with an AP for a special package. Your tickets should not be refundable, but certainly will not expire until used (completely or within 14 days, depending on option(s) purchased).

Still with me? You may add a room only discount code when/if one comes available. Keep an eye out here or on MouseSavers. I find this is almost always less expensive than booking a package. You will get extras with a package, but if they don’t mean anything to you (wouldn’t have used them if they weren’t given to you), then nothing is lost. The only way I’ve ever been able to justify a package (and keep in mind this is with my travel style, so it will vary from person to person) is if a great deal on dining would pop up. I considered free dining, but with APs and the DDE card and a room only discount, even paying for dining OOP, I came out better not doing free dining.

Will the increase only be for tickets to be used in 2009? We will be going in December. Will we pay higher prices for those tickets as well?

Once a ticket is purchased it is good until used. Once they raise the prices, prices will go up as soon as they say they take affect. Last year announced on Friday, went up Sunday. Any ticket bought after the increase cost more.

Kinda like buying a t-shirt at the store. If the store says the price of that t-shirt will be going up next week, it will go up. Whether you buy it and wear it the same day, or 20 years from now, the price goes up. If you started to pay for the shirt on layaway, or paid it all off and just haven't picked it up yet, they won't charge you more for the shirt.

I'm predicting a hefty increase for both tickets and room rates. 10%. Maybe 15% I think with prices continuing to go up on everything, they'll have to raise their rates. If tickets and rooms aren't selling, they can always do promotions like pin codes or free hoppers or free dining. But since their policy is to only raise prices once a year, I think they have to raise it significantly right now, because who knows if gas will be up another buck come January?

You must distinguish between purchasing a new ticket outright and upgrading an unused ticket that you already own.

Last year the cost of adding the Hopper upgrade did not increase, only the price of the base ticket went up.

Nobody knows -
if the cost of the base tickets will or won't increase this year
if the cost of the Hopper upgrade will or won't increase this year
if the cost of the Water Parks and More will or won't increase this year
if the cost of AP's will or won't increase this year
OR
if the entire "structure" of the tickets (what you can use the tickets to do) will change this year

It is possible that a new "base" ticket will INCLUDE hopping.
It is possible that a new ticket will require that you pay extra for EACH day of hopping.
It is possible that all tickets will be non-expiring, but cost a bit more for that feature.

ANY or NONE of those increases or changes MIGHT happen.
There is still the possibility that there will not be any increase or change this Fri-Sun (or for the rest of the month, or year.)

Nobody knows.

Well, my DW and I just booked a WDW vacation for 11/28/08-12/06/2008. We paid in in full just to make sure we were bought and paid for prior to any more price hikes. :thumbsup2
