I am going for 5 days in November, going down for the marathon in January (probably only one day) and will probably go at least one or two more times before next thanksgiving. I had planned to get an AP to cover all of this but now when I'm about to book the room and DBF's tickets - there's talk that a free dining package may be released.
Should I get the free dining package now and wait for the AP until I go down next time? Can you think of anything that I would really be losing by not getting the AP on this trip (besides a 10% discount at the DTD store.)
I should mention as well, my family are DVC members and the AP is discounted $100 so it's only about $320 to purchase and the 5 day park hopper is about $230 to purchase.

With more than 12 days (10 days given your DVC discount on the AP's) in the parks as two or more vacations within a year, the AP's for immediate use will make perfect sense. Since you must buy ordinary tickets of some kind with the resort package that gets you the meals you can buy one day passes on the package. You save those tickets for way off in the future and use your AP's during this upcoming trip.
