Ticket error

we are currently at WDW. We purchased an 8 day ticket with our package. A 2day ticket that was previously purchased was inadvertently used first.

We were offered 2 1day comp tickets to replace our 2day ticket. This does not feel adequate because we cannot upgrade the comp ticket whereas we could upgrade our 2day ticket. Any future vacation that has more than 2 park days will cost us more. (We currently visit 1 or 2 times a year for 7 - 11 days).

Any thoughts?

I agree, that was not adequate, for the reason you state. But I also don't think comp tickets can be upgraded. I'd try Guest Services again.

The error was on your part because you did not have your tickets prioritized prior to using them. This has to be done at Guest Services.

I must disagree with the first part of that statement.

If multiple tickets need to be "prioritized" (and they often DO,) how would a GUEST automatically know that
ahead of time?

It's DISNEY'S overly complex, difficult to understand (and, yes, glitchy) MDE system that is at fault.

I agree with Robo. The only reason I know about prioritizing is because I read it on Dis boards where this mistake was done before.

I would ask for a new 2 day ticket. If you have to put it on your MDE, immediately change the name to guest 1, guest 2, etc, so it won't be used again (still don't trust priority tkts) till you change back to your name, and have them take the day you used off the 8 day tkt.

The challenge is if the 2 day ticket can be upgraded, like your original pkg. 2 day ticket.

Once I inadvertently used a 5-day ticket due to prioritizing errors and they were able to reissue/put back my original ticket at the Magic Kingdom customer service in the park. At the time I had no idea there was such a thing as "prioritizing". Funny enough I had an AP and it seems like by default an AP should always be the "1st" priority but it appears it is whatever was linked last. I would not take the 2-1 day tickets for the reasons you stated. It really shouldn't be your responsibility to know this is an issue.

Or they could've asked to have them prioritized, and it STILL grabbed the wrong ticket, due to either CM or software error. It definitely CAN happen--happened to me.

But yes, I agree, the average guest shouldn't be expected to know that nuance. If we owe Disney that level of understanding, then they owe us a fully-featured software (like being able to actually SEE said prioritizatuon noted in MDE or at least number of days remaining on tickets).

Robo, that's good to know. Do you have any suggestions for WHO to ask for? This has happened on my last 2 visits, that instead of pulling from the 1-day complimentary tickets that my stepdad gives us (he works for ABCnews), they have charged against my daughter's no expiration pass (which of course, since it no longer exists to buy, is much more valuable to me). I am stuck with two 1 day passes, when I'd have much rather "turned back time" on the no-exp pass... is that even still possible? The visits were last Dec (2015) and this summer (Aug 2016). Thanks.

No particular location, as the staff changes all the time.
Someone with high enough authority can put "anything" back.

I've had issues with prioritizing tickets and I had absolutely nothing to do with it. My problems was 2 trips on MDE with 2 different ticket types (one non-hop and one hop). It took several conversations with Guest relations both at WDW and from home to make sure it was corrected. In fact I verified at our resort each trip to ensure I had the right tickets available.

Be sure you explain the situation and don't back down. Fair is fair.

Guest Relations should be able to fix this and- if you can - do it before you go home, ask for a manager and have them restore what you purchased ! This happened with my niece and nephew in April - they have Non Expiring tickets but were traveling with me and my dd's so I purchased 2 day tickets for that trip to keep the NE tickets with the same entitlements as their parents who didn't come with us on this trip.

I had prioritized based in info read here :) but still wanted to be sure I didn't mess up the families tickets so I double checked with GR inside of the Studios on day 1. They had indeed taken a day off the NE ticket instead of the 2 day ticket but she was able to correct it. You bet I checked again on day 2 just to be sure and luckily the 2 day expiring ticket was used for admission day 2!
