Here's the situation: my son has a Silver pass currently that expires 8/18. I have a Pirate pass and we want to go to Epcot on June 21 (he's blocked out). Can I buy a 1-day ticket for him for June 21 and apply it to his AP renewal to a Pirate Pass that day AND stay on the monthly payment plan?

Edit: Chatted with Disney and they said no although I don't understand why and they couldn't explain why.

You can’t apply a ticket to the price of an AP if the ticket was used on a date that the AP would have been blocked out. So if the new AP would be blocked on June 21, that one-day ticket couldn’t be applied to the cost of the new AP.

It wouldn’t because he will be getting Pirate.

Perhaps the system won't allow going from a Silver to a Pirate as a renewal/upgrade until pass sales resume. As far as I can tell, the Pirate Pass is not currently available for new purchase.

You can't apply a day ticket to a renewal. Then it becomes a new pass.

Just buy the day ticket for him and use it for June 21. Then he can renew his Silver to a Pirate (Pirate is available as a renewal even though it's not as a new pass) and stay on the monthly payment plan.

No you're not going to get the $100 discount (or whatever the current ticket costs) but if he wants a pass above Pixie and he wants to be on the monthly payment plan, he's going to have to do it the same way that every other Florida resident has to do it.

His AP expires 8/18/22. His renewal window opens 6/19/22 (60 days before expiration). So if he renews 6/19, then his new Pirate (or whatever pass he chooses), will start on 8/18/22. His old silver pass will be the active pass on 6/21 and he cannot use that. So, he needs to buy a ticket for 6/21. Can he use it and then apply it? I do not think so. I have heard about using unused and unexpired tickets to upgrade from ticket to annual pass. But you are talking about a used ticket that will also expire and for a period when his prior Silver pass was effective. Even if they did allow it, then the new annual pass would backdate to a starting date of the ticket. So, maybe you do not want to do that. Anyway, you need to either call the passholder line or visit guest services.

This is what I think the cast member was trying to tell me. And she kept going back to the fact that passes are not being sold/upgraded right now. If they were I could just upgrade him. Stinks though.

Inside renewal window = you can upgrade.
Outside renewal window and passes not being sold = you cannot upgrade
You could abandon the remainder of the Silver pass and simply buy a new Pixie pass that would start immediately. But, this would NOT be a renewal of the Silver pass.

Edited to add: This is for Disney World (as the question involved Pirate passes.)
Note: Right now, new sales AND renewals of all Magic Keys are suspended with a Disney spokesperson saying when the time comes for renewal of the latest version of Magic Keys they will offer a renewal option - but details of that renewal option are currently unknown.

I didn't even think about this as I was set on Pirate for him. This is what I'm going to do, we will make Pixie work! Thank you! :)
