Ticked off! Hannah Montana 3d glasses GONE at WalMart!

We went to WalMart last week and they were handing them out to all the kids as we walked in the door. I have 3 pair that I know we are not going to use. I may be back at WalMart today (what else is new), I can see if they have any others. As I said we are not using them, if anyone would like me to mail them, PM me and I will send them. We are in MA, if that makes a difference in getting them by Saturday. Hope that can help someone.

I still have the glasses from the theater showing. Will they work?

No, you need the Red and Blue kind :3dglasses

They work using Stereoscopic like a viewfinder toy.

The glasses used in the the movie theater use RealD 3D.

Red and blue – or anaglyph – glasses were developed in the 1950s for black and white movies and have been used more recently with print media. Anaglyph glasses are not feasible for use in today’s full-color cinematic landscape. When worn for longer than a few minutes, anaglyph glasses cause eye strain and fatigue, making it difficult to watch a feature length presentation. REAL D Cinema systems play the highest quality 2-D and 3-D content using a single digital projector. The images projected onto a specially formulated silver movie screen are “decoded” by viewers wearing comfortable, lightweight REAL D Cinema glasses.

REAL D does not produce 3-D content. REAL D focuses on the delivery of 3-D content to theaters so that audiences may enjoy incredible new entertainment experiences. Several movie directors like James Cameron, George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis, Steve Starkey, Robert Rodriguez and Peter Jackson are currently creating content in digital 3-D and expanding the 3-D filmmaking palette.

As humans, each eyeball sees a slightly different image, and the brain fuses these two separate images together to form a single image having depth. REAL D Cinema systems replicate the way a human eye perceives depth by discreetly delivering two separate images to each eye.

Red and Blue glasses are a bit more tolerable on the TV.

To the OP, I live in NC too and there were plenty at my Winston Salem walmart. I will be happy to send you as many as you need and they will get there in time since it only takes a day from my city to yours. PM your address and I will get them out today.

If anyone else needs them, let me know and I will see what I can do.

At my store they were on top of a snack display with HM's picture on it.

Yesterday our store had stacks of them sitting on a shelf next to school supplies. I asked the stationary employee who was stocking shelves if I could take some and he was like "sure, I have no idea why they would send those to me, you can take them all if you'd like!"
I only took 4 for the kids but I'd be more than happy to go back and get some for anyone that needs them. PM me if you still need them.

They had them in this weeks TV guide. Maybe you can buy one of them?

Mine didn't. I saw on another board that they were in the TVG's and someone there didn't get any either so she called TVG. She was told that not all TVG's had the glasses. :confused3

We are going tomorrow to see if our Walmart has any left. Can anyone tell me why everything with Walmart is so difficult? I truly hate going in that store, so I have put it off. This could bite me in the butt now I guess.

This is me too. i am going later today, if they are gone i will never hear the end of it. the kids have been bugging me since they heard about it, and i despise going in walmart so much i have also put it off!!!

Check at the head cashier station up front as well. Our store always has that stuff right up front and sometimes they are the only ones that know how to find anything!

If they're the red/blue lens 3D glasses and you don't have them, the picture will still be entirely clear (well, unless you have my television set). You will just be watching in the same two dimensions that everyone sees mostly every other show in.

It will not be ! I don't see how you think that. Even in the version of Spy-kids 3D they have one disc for 3D and one to watch regular. I've tried watching the 3D one without the glasses and it looks entirely different. Yes, you can watch it but it will look really funny. Like your TV is messed up or your eyes are. They seperate the blue and red colors from each other.

It will not look "funny". Many, if not most, people watching 3D shows on broadcast/cable television will not have the 'necessary' 3D glasses. I happened to have two pairs when Medium aired in 3D in November 2005 - one from TV Guide, one I picked up at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Yes, they enhanced the picture - made it appear three-dimensional - but they were NOT required to clearly view the broadcast-over-the-airwaves television show.

This is entirely different from a disc or video, where the viewer has a choice (when the distributor provides two versions, and the necessary equipment with which to view the chosen version). The show will only air on one channel - EVERY viewer reasonably expects to see the broadcast at least 'normally'.

I've watched the 'black-lenses' 3D shows with and without the required glasses. I do know the difference. THOSE are, yes, blurry. The glasses merge the layers of animation or other photography and make each complete image appear three-dimensional. That's why it seems like you can reach out and touch an image, even though it's actually flat on the screen.

This is not true with red/blue lens 3D viewing - at least, not on broadcast/cable television. A DVD the consumer purchased? I don't know - the gimmicks aren't important to me, so I don't buy those.

It will look funny. Here is a screenshot from the last time Disney did a 3D broadcast (ABC's TGIF in 1997):

Well, I made it to Walmart and got the 3D glasses and the new Miley CD, so I guess we are set for the week:thumbsup2 They had them in a box by the front registers. They still had a few , but not a ton.
Hopefully I will not have to go back to Walmart for awhile now.

Could you tell me which Walmart you were at? I need them for my granddaughters and I'm in Columbus (actually Delaware) also. Thanks

OP here...just wanted to let you all know that I got some. A friend was in Myrtle Beach for the week and picked me up some there. She'll be back tomorrow, so I'll have them in plenty of time.

Thanks to all of you who offered to send me yours....that was so very nice of you. The Disboards are really full of good people!:goodvibes :thumbsup2 :grouphug:

Let me see if I have this right....Please confirm!!!

1. So the really nice 3D glasses we saved from the Hannah Montana movie are useless for tv viewing? :headache:

2. Are the ones are Walmart ones "real" 3D glasses of any substance or are they just the "temporary" paper ones?

3. If they're just the temporary paper ones, I would think the 3D glasses DD has from her Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus-3D DVD would work....they have a red left eye and blue right eye. Can anyone confirm that?

I had a procedure (no need to go into details  ) at a Surgery Center today and am forbidden to leave the house....not that I'd get out of bed anyway. I really don't want to send DH out on a wild goose chase for these if I don't have to. But it would also be nice to be able to tell my friend (who also thought she could use her theatre 3D glasses) what she needs to look for at Walmart. :confused3

THANKS!:thumbsup2

not totally sure about the PP questions but, the glasses I have from Walmart are flimsy cardboard, one red eye, one blue eye.
Here is an article I found about the show:

"Hannah Montana" goes 3-D on Starz TV
By Carolyn Giardina

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Get out your poster board and scissors. Starz Entertainment will help TV audiences make their own 3-D glasses at home and then spend some summer hours with Hannah Montana in 3-D on TV.
Disney's "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour" will air on Starz in 2-D on July 26 -- when Disney Channel is scheduled to air the TV debut of the 3-D version. Then, Starz on Demand and Starz HD on Demand will begin offering the concert film in 3-D beginning July 27. It also will be scheduled on the Starz channels.
While the film was seen in digital 3-D in theaters, this TV experience will be presented in anaglyph, which means that the images are made up of two color layers, offset from each other to create the feeling of depth when viewed with two-color glasses.
To see the 3-D, viewers can log on to the Starz Web site and learn how to make their 3-D glasses at home. It starts with printing out the outline of the paper frames, along with instructions. Fans will need supplies including poster board, a red permanent marker, blue permanent marker and clear plastic wrapper.
"The tutorial comes across a bit young, but it's meant to be playful and encourage people to do an activity for what is a passive activity like watching television," said Jonathan Shair, vp network group at Starz Entertainment.
"Best of Both Worlds Concert" in 3-D is slated for an August 19 DVD release. The film opened in digital 3-D theaters in February, grossing more than $65.3 million.

Hopefully that helps somebody :hippie:
