Tiana's Place

Why not try it first before condemning it?

Because I know that I do not like the things on there. And even for the "lighter fare" things which I will eat, green is the least appetizing color scheme for a restaurant ever IMHO.

I am pretty stoked to have such a clearly themed restaurant coming to DCL. It's like super cool Tiana's dream finally come true! The food looks good but I agree it needs gumbo at a minimum.

Call DCL and request to dine in Tiana's on Pirate Night. Then you will get the Pirate Menu and not this menu.
But they would still get the Signature menu one of the times they are in Tiana's.

Pirate menu doesn't replace a Signature menu, as all dining rooms have the Pirate menu on Pirate night (except for 3 night cruises, and the Star Wars cruises).

I think the appetizer and starters all look amazing. COuld make a meal out of them. Main entrees look okay, not excited by them. Desserts look great too. Need gumbo however.

I would like to see a Po'Boy though!

I wanted mini-muffulettas, too, but then I realized that Tiana probably would not be serving muffulettas or po'boys in her supper club.

I kind of thought that andouille stew was a sort of gumbo. I've never had gumbo, so I don't know. I'm excited about it as well. We sail on the 14th. Nice touch to have Tiana in there greeting people.

that's what I was thinking about the stew

It'd be weird to make a quasi-gumbo and hide it as a side on the pork tenderloin entree. Just make a real gumbo and highlight it as one of the "Soup & Salad" offerings.

Super excited to try that restaurant. I love the new look and concept.

The menu reminds me of the Enchanted Garden a bit but I am willing to give it a try.

People have been saying that. But since there were so many scenes in the movie dedicated to her making gumbo. I figured it would be a star entree.

Totally agree after watching the movie again recently. Kind of the whole reason she opened a restaurant. Everything else looks good too though.

We just returned. There was no gumbo on the menu. The 'stew' was a sloppy looking side dish, but it was very tasty. DH didn't like it because he hates onions. It has big crunchy onions and peppers and a spicy sausage.

Tiana's Place looks fantastic to me, but then I've lived in the south and love the food there. Can't wait to try it!

Hmmm. Most gumbos do have green bell pepper and white or yellow onion in it, but they are normally very finely chopped. Further, a gumbo is usually left to simmer for at least an hour, so neither onion nor pepper is particularly crunchy.

Not to beat a dead horse, but odd menu choices on the part of DCL for this restaurant.

I would have loved to see mini-muffulettas or mini-po'boys as appetizers, but I can see how those would not have been served in Tiana's Place.

But no gumbo? No etouffee? For real?
Nope. And don't eat the jambalaya.

we're going on a 3 night cruise next year..
the last time i did a cruise that short was 14 years ago, long before pirate nights..
so could you explain it to me?
on a 3 night cruise, do you have the main menu in each of the 3 restaurants, regardless of pirate night?
or do they replace the main menu with the pirate menu also on the 3 day cruises?
