I was speaking of resorts in general. I admit I am not familiar with how the campground works.

Wanna know how it works at the campground? This is how it works...there are 90 partial hook up sites TOTAL. on the other hand there are over 9,000 value rooms available. Please for the love of Pete, if you are booking a "throw away reservation" have some courtesy and waste a value room which is much more plentiful.

Exactly. You all can try to justify this practice however you'd like in order to be okay with it, but it's wrong and there is no excuse.
Yeah, there's a really simple "excuse". Disney allows it. People can feel however they want about it, but at the end of the day it really doesn't matter. If you want a campsite book it early. If I want a certain room or view or ADR I have to book it early. Getting bent out of shape because someone isn't using the item to my standards still doesn't get me the item I was too late to get.
So I take it you won't be booking a throw away room at the comfort inn at the Atlantis, when you are on your first cruise.. that LOTS of people will to get the perks for the waterslides... but thank you for judging all of us that don't live up to your moral standards.
bottom line it is NO ONE's business what someone does with something that THEY PAID for.... no one is breaking any rules! other than yours...
If this was a response to me, heck no, I'm not booking a throwaway room at Atlantis, we're booking excursions, and paying out the wazoo for the whole trip, so my mom can have a great experience while she can still enjoy it. Before you throw stones, maybe you should ask instead of assume, but yes, I am judging my own standards; just like there are those that are saying too bad if you don't book by 60, too bad if some here don't meet those standards. I'm far from perfect, but certainly try to live my life as well as possible without hurting others in the process.
Taking a campsite and not using it means someone else can't, and yes, maybe it's someone who can't afford anything more. How much clearer does that have to be made? I don't even know why I was stupid enough to come back to this thread, because clearly almost everyone here thinks this selfish and inconsiderate practice is fine and dandy, and are able to justify it by saying it's not against the rules. Well, just because it's not illegal, doesn't make it right. How pathetic. Flame away cause I'm done.
Taking a campsite and using it also means someone else can't. Maybe they can't afford anything more. What is the difference to that person? Are they happy even though they have been shut out of going to Disney because hey, at least the person who beat them to reserving the site is camping?.
Yeah I think there is a difference. I think the pill is more bitter to swallow when the site they need is sitting empty.

I'm going to preface this by saying I did not read through this entire thread, it seems a little crazy to do that when I really just want to post my opinion of the practice of booking "throwaway" rooms or campsites in order to get resort benefits. I am a camper, and use a tent, so it's quite irritating to me when I try to book a site and there are none available, knowing that it's entirely possible the last one was booked not by a fellow camper, but by someone trying to get around the 'system' because the campsites are the least expensive on-site 'rooms' available. I would never do this, and find it reprehensible that others would.
Obviously, everyone is looking to get these throwaway rooms at the lowest possible price, and clearly those that do this either don't think of or just don't care about the fact that they're taking these rooms and sites from those that may need a less expensive way of staying at Disney. For myself, although I can usually be a little more flexible because I live locally, of course I'd much prefer to get my camping or resort trip in when it works for me and my family, and others might not have that flexibility at all.
I know people are mad about FP+ and the restrictions they feel it's placing on them, and want the extra resort benefits, but it's not right to take rooms and sites away from other people when you're not going to use them. That's my opinion, and you can flame away if you'd like; I'm not going to argue it because I don't feel there's any way for someone to defend booking throwaways.![]()
Does this issue ever come up on the UNI forum? Because I know a lot of people book "throwaway" rooms at the 3 onsite hotels in order to take advantage of the unlimited express passes.
