Throwaway room (read post #2041 or #2710 before posting)

You could book a couple campsites for around $200 and they will accommodate 12 people.
I'd probably do it if I was going that week just so I knew that I could pre-book.

Never thought about the parking... that would save us $84.00 as we have 3 cars (don't ask :confused3 ). Do you have to actually check in to get the parking pass, or is that electronic now too?

The pass is given to you when you physically check in.

I swear I saw in a thread within the last week that this loophole was closed. I remember the poster saying they booked had to book a room every other day so they could book their FP+s. I will try to find it later tonight...at work now son can't really search.

I have ADRs booked out and still nothing. The reason I'm thinking they closed the loophole is that this DIS'er is going over the same dates (but presumably on-site the whole trip) and was able to book out 6 days:

Yet I am grayed out for all but the first two days (which opened yesterday, no change today) despite having ADRs and 5 day hoppers linked:

I will, of course, continue to check every day and will update if I am successful but if nothing opens up I wanted to make sure people knew!
ETA: My reservation is for the night of 4/28 only.

I "think" you should be able to book FP+ for 4/30 tomorrow. And then 5/1 the next day, etc. With a one night stay, you can only book your check-in and check-out days. You then have to wait until 60 days prior to your third day and so on. Let us know what happens tomorrow! pixiedust:

I read that post also and the confusion came from the poster thought the would be able to book for their whole ticket at 60 days from their check in day. After the check out date, you have to wait 60 days from each day. They can not be made all at once. I believe that poster cancelled all the days and then went back to just one day and was able to book for his whole ticket. He was past the 60 days for his full ticket.

Hi, please do not flame me, I know there is a lot of folks that are unhappy about people using throwaway rooms, and to be honest when I heard my friend did it, I was a little annoyed as well at first, but now jealous. But here it goes:

My mom is taking all her grandkids and children to WDW the week before Easter. She has been saving and planning this for over 3 years. My sister is coming in from The Netherlands, me and my family are flying in from CT, and her and my brothers family are coming in from PA. 12 of us in total. The kids are 7,6,5,4 and 2... the oldest with sesory issues and ASD. This is a first trip with the kids for everyone by our family.. this is our 4th Spring Break trip. This could be the one and only family reunion trip with my mom...

We have ADRs for the week and 5 day PH already linked to MDE. It was telling me I could book FP after some random day in April (after our trip). But its not telling me that anymore...

SO... my mom is freaking out about this while MB thing and really wants them for her family. We are willing to book 2 rooms/campsites, whatever to get the one night on site stay to get the FP+ access and MBs.

I have been reading the posts on the throwaway rooms and the possibility of FP+ being available to offsiters beginning in early April.

The $200 plus we may spend on the throwaway rooms would more than pay for themselves if we did not have to stand in 1 hour long waits trying to get FP+ scheduled each morning... but its a risk that that one day reservation loophole could be closed.

WWYD?? Can the kids survive without FP+ week before Easter? Can I??

If it is worth it to you, I think you should do it. I feel that a "throwaway room" does not hurt me. I shall be in WDW in late March, staying onsite. By purchasing that room, I am entitled to the benefits that go with the purchase of the room, like Magic Bands, parking, and EMH. As it happens, I shall be staying in that room. What if another family purchases the room next to me, but then stays with their cousins in Orlando? They spent the same amount I spent. I think they should get the same things I got. Just because they aren't choosing to use one of the things they got (the bed), doesn't mean they don't deserve the other things.

What if I twist my ankle and spend all night in the emergency room? Do I not deserve my fastpasses and magic bands? What if my cousin becomes ill and I spend all night with my cousin at their house? Do I not deserve my fastpasses and magic bands?

Would it help if we rephrased it? What if we call the WDW resort room the primary room, and the offsite room the "party together hotspot"? Then we can just crash wherever we get tired.

Now, I can see someone's point if they don't want someone to pay for one night and get the benefits for 12 nights. Is that possible? (I really am asking: can you buy one night in a WDW resort and make 12 days worth of fastpass+ reservations?)

Thanks Mom! I was pretty sure I hadn't dreamt that and would hate for someone to spend the $ and then find out they only get to reserve for 2 days. To the poster - I say go for it. I can totally understand not wanting to stand in those lines. No flaming from me.....best of luck!

OP, you asked what I'd do, and I am, in fact, an expert on what I would do. ;)

Personally, I wouldn't book a throwaway room. I'd feel guilty about being wasteful and/or taking that from someone else who could use it.

If I were wanting MBs that much, I'd go ahead and book onsite. And I say that as someone who was offsite for our January trip and will be offsite for our March trip.

I won't knock what others would do, just telling you what I'd do.

You have until 5 days prior to cancel rooms so if they take that option away, just cancel the rooms.

Is it 5 days now? We have canceled a room only in less that 48 hours before check in with no issue. That was 2 years ago though.

I'm not trying to stir the pot or anything, but i have an innocent question.

If one has a MB, would they be able to stay for all late EMH for the length of their trip, on or off-site? I haven't been in a while, but when we went, all we had to do was show our kttw card to get on a ride during EMH. I'm guessing now all you have to do is show MBs?

As everyone said, they scan now, so they will know.

Yup, I read that too. We need a more current person to try the ghost room and see if it works.

I would for sure do it and don't see how it would be more hassle than trying to find an available kiosk. You might not be able to get all 12 FP at the same time, but hopefully you will be able to get some together and certainly have a higher chance to get them together in advance than at a kiosk. Don't let anyone make you feel like it is wrong. You are paying for the room and you have every right to use the room the way you see fit. As long as you are not damaging it. I would go to the resort and check in though so you can save on your parking for one day.

If they open up to off site by then, just cancel the room :goodvibes

It seems like the 60+X works like it does for ADRs, you can make reservations for as long as your resort reservation is at 60 days out, and then you can add additional days of reservations as they reach 60 days out from each day.

My res for my throwaway room is April 29 and today I can book FP+ for the 29th and 30th. I'm thinking maybe on Sunday I'll be able to book the 1st and so on, but I'll let you know.

I have mine scheduled for Nov. 29th. We have quite a bit of time left before our trip, so I don't know what things will look like at that point. I'll bee keeping up with this thread though!

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for all the positive thoughts... I love this place!:goodvibes When I talked with my sister yesterday she was actually excited about going back to the campground we stayed in when we were kids in the 70's... lots of memories. I actually have more memories of the campgrounds from that vacation than MK! Anyway, we booked two sites, and I think we will actually use them to let the kids run around and get a taste of Disney on arrival day, as we are not planning on going to parks that day. Maybe get some pizzas and use the picnic tables and such. No tent camping though.

So... verdict... yes I was able to book all 5 days of my MYW hopper tickets on FP+ for all 12 of us. So for now, it works. I spent about 30 mins on the phone with technical support as she switched the tickets around so that each families account was set up correctly, and the tickets were tied correctly etc., before I booked the reservations. Could that of made the difference? don't know.

It is OUR vacation... and it could be the only vacation for all the grandkids with grandma and us three siblings together. We are 42 days out... getting less worried and more excited!!:cool1:

What happens if they were to schedule the rooms only, get the magic bands in the mail and then cancel the reservation and get the money back? You still have the MB at that point and I would guess the bands would work the same way?

Why not just do this instead?
