Throwaway room (read post #2041 or #2710 before posting)

Wanted to update, not sure when the loophole closed, but I'm a non-AP holder, booked a one night stay and linked 5 day park hoppers. My FP+ window opened today and I can only book for the day of check in and the day of check out, not length of ticket.

iheartjuppy, can you update in a few days when the 60 day window opens for your park days after the 1 night stay?

Also some people have mentioned an ADR opens FP+ reservations maybe you could try that as well.

I would hate to wait in line for a kiosk every morning... :(

I am here now and will check into my throwaway room in a few hours.

I was able to make my FP+ 60 days out, day by day. So 60 days out, I reserved for check in and check out. Then 2 days later, I was able to reserve for our 3rd vacation day, and so on...

I will keep you posted if I have any issues while we are here and no longer "on-site" after we check out tomorrow.

Thank you!

Hi, please do not flame me, I know there is a lot of folks that are unhappy about people using throwaway rooms, and to be honest when I heard my friend did it, I was a little annoyed as well at first, but now jealous. But here it goes:

My mom is taking all her grandkids and children to WDW the week before Easter. She has been saving and planning this for over 3 years. My sister is coming in from The Netherlands, me and my family are flying in from CT, and her and my brothers family are coming in from PA. 12 of us in total. The kids are 7,6,5,4 and 2... the oldest with sesory issues and ASD. This is a first trip with the kids for everyone by our family.. this is our 4th Spring Break trip. This could be the one and only family reunion trip with my mom...

We have ADRs for the week and 5 day PH already linked to MDE. It was telling me I could book FP after some random day in April (after our trip). But its not telling me that anymore...

SO... my mom is freaking out about this while MB thing and really wants them for her family. We are willing to book 2 rooms/campsites, whatever to get the one night on site stay to get the FP+ access and MBs.

I have been reading the posts on the throwaway rooms and the possibility of FP+ being available to offsiters beginning in early April.

The $200 plus we may spend on the throwaway rooms would more than pay for themselves if we did not have to stand in 1 hour long waits trying to get FP+ scheduled each morning... but its a risk that that one day reservation loophole could be closed.

WWYD?? Can the kids survive without FP+ week before Easter? Can I??

Won't comment on anything specific, but I am in the camp that doesn't like it at all - for various reasons. I only hope that with all the complaints that the loophole will soon be closed.

No flaming from me. I say if you have the money and the places you want are open, make the throwaway reservations. Don't forget that you can save on parking with that throwaway reservation too. Just for the day of check in and check out but that cuts the cost down too. You will know if you can pre-book for your whole ticket in plenty of time to get a full refund on the rooms. Again, if you have the money to do, why not just go ahead and save your family the stress.

Will two rooms cover all 12 of you?

I personally don't have an issue with the concept of the room. Who knows, maybe someone will sleep there. What should others care what you'll do in the room? If someone checks in, goes to MK on a night with emh until 2am, goes and visits a friend after, sleeps there and gets up for morning emh, they aren't in the room and no one thinks that's awful.

I just don't know if you can get everyone covered by two rooms.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. There is no guarantee that all of you could get the same FP times either way, so it may not even be worth the extra money spent. Skip the kiosks at that front of the parks and go to one in the back. The lines shouldn't be terrible, and the kids can go ride something while you make your selections for the day.

If you can easily afford the throwaway rooms, then go for it!:)

We were there Pres Day through 2/25, and only had to wait a few minutes for our Fp+ to be scheduled by an iPad CM. But, with a party of 12, it will be a little more difficult.
On Tuesday, the CM was loading in our four passes when the system froze on her iPad and she had to start over. There's also the chance you could get behind a large party who has no idea what they want or they don't like the times being given and that could also take awhile.

Are you also planning to get a DAS for the child w/ASD? That could help to shorten wait times for members of your party.

Simple question followed by a simple answer. Who's vacation is this? It's your vacation. If they allow the throwaway room, then use it. I say book it. Now, I think it's worth noting that Magic Bands are really ideal for on site guests, and significantly less so for off site. I wouldn't focus so much on the bands as I would the pre-booking FP+.

Never thought about the parking... that would save us $84.00 as we have 3 cars (don't ask :confused3 ). Do you have to actually check in to get the parking pass, or is that electronic now too?

If you are parking 3 cars for 3 days, that will actually be $90. It is $15 per car per day to park now.

Yeah I don't know how it would work booking just 2 rooms for 12 people? Also, is anything that size even left at this point?

If you can afford it and it works, I'd do it.

You have until 5 days prior to cancel rooms so if they take that option away, just cancel the rooms.

I'm not trying to stir the pot or anything, but i have an innocent question.

If one has a MB, would they be able to stay for all late EMH for the length of their trip, on or off-site? I haven't been in a while, but when we went, all we had to do was show our kttw card to get on a ride during EMH. I'm guessing now all you have to do is show MBs?

If you have to scan the MB to access an attraction instead of just showing it, that won't work.

There must be some way to see what your reservation stay is because if not, what about AP holders that already have MBs. They could then use any EMH they wanted no matter where they were staying. I would think that would be a bigger danger than the few guest that are booking a throwaway room.

All guests are eligible to stay for evening EMH. We had to scan our bands to ride something, so if you don't have a current onsite stay, they will know it.

When we were just there they scanned our bands and our reservation came up on their screen. The reservation has to be active.

I'm not against the idea, but it just feels too complicated to me.
Seems to me that it would be a lot easier to deal with the Kiosk in the park each morning instead. As long everyone shows up on one MDE account, only one person will need to do the FP+ reservations while the others do something else (right?)
And it will be way more expensive to find rooms/sites that hold 12 people than just paying for parking of three cars those days.

I don't agree with this practice for a lot of reasons, but aside from my personal feelings I don't see that it would be that helpful in your case. I'm thinking you would have to have at least 3 rooms for 12 people, so it's going to cost considerly more than $200 for those MB.
