Not really, the size of my fifth wheel is bigger than a room at a Moderate resort plus we get our own beds and the kids have their own space in the back bunkhouse! ;)

LOL! I know - my comment was somewhat tongue-in-cheek because Sur (ooops.... not Sur, but a previous poster) was going to great length to describe just how much effort and time is involved in getting setup and then in taking down, almost like a complaint although I know he wasn't complaining.

That wasn't Sur. You're losing track with all the battles you're waging. Maybe it's time for you to take a break.

Besides, they said the stated they agreed with you, just not how you make your point...I suspect they're not the only one who now devalues your opinion.

I'm simply responding to the repeated accusations by others that paying for a resort accommodation that they don't "use" is breaking some sort of lodging rule or moral guideline.

At least my standpoint is consistent :rotfl2:
Nobody else is using the entirely unrelated sweepstakes non sequitur. Yes, I'm aware that's redundant.

Ahhh... you're right. I confused Sur's comments with that of the PP. Thank you for the correction, and for the rest of your gracious and most respectful comments.

And maybe you should pay closer attention to who you are actually quoting?

So do I need to "quote" the previous posters who think it's okay to rent a room and not stay in it but it's not okay to do the same with a campsite because they might want to rent a campsite or has anybody else noticed that?

I'm more curious about your username. LOL!!!

No one answered my question. Disney doesn't allow you to leave your room for a day or 2 without thinking you abandoned it and getting rid of your stuff?

The answer is no, they won't do that.

After reading most of the posts... my opinion comes from the fact, it may not be wrong and not a moral issue for most but how do your actions affect others, would be my problem. IMHO, it's right up there with making multiple ADR's on the same date and time... not knowing where you will be that day. It's not as much an issue now that many restaurants you need a credit card to make the reservation. However, you are keeping others from making reservations for your own convenience. For myself I have a problem with that. Many new comers to the World are not as savvy as others. They fly by the seat of their pants because they don't know better but because many do, they lose out (I am a 180 day ADR person aka a planner). Holding a reservation for one day, especially at FW can ruin another's reservation. To what end? So you can save a few bucks? One PP pointed out they would save $25 by doing this. If I have to do this to go to WDW then, for me, I don't belong there. I'm not looking to piss away money but... This is one of those many issues that cause a huge amount of controversy. Disney will never make everyone happy but to those that think Disney is glad to offer those rooms that no one uses, I really don't think so. They want people to stay on property, that's more profitable for them. I welcome debate but by all means those that just look to be snarky please move on the the next post

The obvious solution to this is to allow offsite guests to book FP+. Then they wouldn't have this problem on their hands that THEY created.

Or, you know, just keep FP- machines going until they have finalized a way for offsite guests to pre-book FP+.

Yep, I agree, that would solve much of the problem. Offsite people should not be penalized for staying off site. To give it and then take it away... not a fan. I wish that "powers that be" in most jobs, take the time to reach out to those that it affects, it's much different from the "think tanks" My job does that all the time... ask me about my people, I know them and can help the most, but I keep forgetting, that's why they are smarter then me, oy vey :confused3

Not if Disney is the one who has the problem with it. Their resort, their rules, their thoughts on the matter are the ones that count. Again, for one night I don't think there would be any repercussions. But at least twice that I remember Dis posters with longer stays have had problems leaving their rooms for a few days. It doesn't seem to be something that happens all of the time, but if Disney decides you have abandoned your room, they can take whatever steps they see fit. May be nothing. May be your lose your room and your dining credits. Totally up to them.

Legally if you have paid them for a service they have to provide it whether you use it or not. They can only put you out the room if you damage it or over occupy it.

Yes!

I'd even go as far to say that I would PAY for the ability to get MB's and pre-book FP+, since I am getting a free suite at the Dolphin. I'd rather NOT go through the shenanigans of booking a room I really don't want (but I will occupy) to get FP+ and MB's. It's not always about saving a few dollars for most people, it's about having the best vacation for their family.

I'm not convinced there is any plan to allow offsite to pre book FP+ I think the plan is for this to be a no site perk.

Perhaps you're right. I expected complete chaos during the AK testing, but since that went pretty well, maybe this will be the end game for offsite. It will depend on the details. Since greater than half of the visitors are offsite, will they reserve over half the FP+ slots for same day booking? Or will offsite guests need to pick up the scraps? If it is the latter, I will continue to book one night onsite to keep this privilege, or PAY for it if that is available. If they close that loophole, and same day FP stinks, I will vacation elsewhere. Unfortunately, onsite does not work for this family...

It is true that you can not park at a resort and use Disney transportation if you stay off-site. That is against Disney's rules. But once you pay to park at a park, you can use any of their transportation that you want to travel to other parks or resorts. This is well within Disney's rules.

Somewhat incorrect statement - you can pay to valet park at a resort. Then use the resorts buses to get to the parks. $15 plus tip!
