Throwaway room (read post #2041 or #2710 before posting)

Just my two cents, but the added "perks" of booking a hotel room or campsite is that you...
1. Will get free parking for two days of your trip(day before/after reservation)
2. Book FP+ 60 days out from that reservation for the length of MYW pass.
3. Will get a MB if you do not have one

Facts
1. Disney could care less if you do this. They are making $$ on a room that they will have no need to service. FP+ and parking is not an added cost to them so why would they care. If they wanted to close this loophole it would be a simple IT switch to attach FP+ to length of stay vs MYW pass.
2. Since FP+ is already available at AK for offsite guests, you are currently paying for the advanced 60 day out privilege and the ever fleeting exclusive resort guest use at the other parks. Likely, the roll out will continue, and the only "perk" will be the 60days advanced and MB.
3. Disney's transportation system is free to all park guests. Not just resort guests.

Conclusion
1. You are paying for the room, whether you use it or not. It's your money your choice.
2. Value is in the eyes of the beholder.

Again, I ask..... how long do I need to "occupy" my reservation so as not to upset you? Because, whether I "use" it or not, anybody who reserves a campsite for just one night has potentially created the condition causing you such grief.

I am just curious if you camp or not? For those of us who do camp we don't camp for one night and even two nights can be difficult because packing up our unit takes time when you have kids. Then once you get to the campground it takes a minimum of a half hour to unhook, level the RV, put the slide out and then the awning then I don't even want to add up how long it takes to pack the unit up after camping! Our family is thinking of taking our fifth wheel down to camp in that because our kids have their own space in the bunkhouse in the RV. I have to completely agree that reserving a campsite for one night and not using would result in that site being left empty for the rest of the week. A major disappointment to us and many other campers would be to see empty lots that can't be occupied because people started using that for Throwaway rooms. So I guess my answer on a definition of "using" a campsite would be to sleep there, pop a tent for all I care and reserve the cheapest campsite they offer, for that night and use the facilities. The hotels don't really bother me it is the campground that people should leave alone.

Yeah, I think we've strayed from the original topic. I don't think it's immoral to book and pay for a room you don't plan to stay in. I do, however, think it's unfair to scoop up cheap campsites when there are, compared to hotel rooms on property, a very limited number of them, potentially cheating those who actually want to camp out of the ability to do so. Yes, you're paying too. Yes, you got there (booked) first. What you're doing still tells me you lack empathy.

And now, since I had an actual nightmare about this thread last night, I think I'll take my leave.

So let's say I'm trying to book a campsite. There's nothing available for my dates. Does it really make a difference if the campsites are being slept in or not? Someone booked it before me. I still can't stay there. I don't see how it would be comforting to me to know that it's being slept in. Doesn't make it any less crappy to miss out on the campsite.

So I'm obviously wrong about the Disney transportation, as so many have pointed out. I can say I learned something today. :)

So I have another question (and please do not take this as being sarcastic. I really just want to know the answer.): As an offsite guest, I can then park at a Disney resort and take Disney transportation to the parks? If this is true, then why would I pay $15 to park at the parks? :confused3

No, it's not true. They give out 3 hour maximum parking passes at the resorts. You can only park there if you're visiting them, not using them for park access. Well you can, but you'd have to lie and might get towed lol.

You'd pay $15 to save yourself time on your vacation. You could technically park at DTD where there's no security stopping you and bus to the parks. That could take 2 hours of your day doing it there and back.

We camp (with 2 kids), and if we are traveling somewhere (in fact on our way to Disney and back later this month) we often stay one night somewhere.

And even more often, we do a weekend somewhere (Fri & Sat night).

And long weekends, Fri - Tues would fit fine with a person who has a Wed only stay somewhere.

Again, if a person pays for a site, who am I to care whether they sleep there or not, as long as they pay for it. They reserved it before I did. First come, first serve. (Having FP arguments flashbacks....aye)

There are plenty of campgrounds that require 2 night stays on weekends and 3 night stays on holiday weekends. If FW sees this as a problem, they can always go that route.

Ok, this is what I thought. But everyone kept correcting me and telling me that anyone can use Disney transportation and, therefore, Disney transportation is not a perk for onsite guests. Based on what I, as an offsite guest would have to do in order to be able to use it, I say that it IS a perk for onsite guests.

DtD buses do not go to the parks, only resorts. Not sure if the AK/DtD bus 'experiment' is still running.

You could pay to valet park at one of the deluxe resorts, if valet says it's okay (busy times, possibly not) and then go to a park, but that is $15 also.

Well they're right to correct you. Anyone can use it. They just can't park their cars for the day at the resorts. Once you have parked your vehicle somewhere Disney allows, you're free to use the transportation however you like. That part is the "perk" although I don't know if I would really refer to it as such. If you're spending your day at MK but eating at Wilderness Lodge you don't have to go back to the car and drive there, you can take the bus/boat.

I know, but if someone was determined they could transfer, like I said, 2 hours out of your day at least. That's why it's hardly a popular option to save $15.

The DTD/AK test is over; it only ran about six weeks.

And the Valet Parking fee doesn't go to the valets, so doesn't include a tip.

Man, that sure sounds like a lot of work. I think for a few bucks more I'd just get a room :)

Oh my GOD what is your deal? Between the two threads you've said like 10 times that people who are judging you for, well, not being a very honest person, are the same ones making multiple entries for some contest, or with Disney to get PINs.

And I'll keep saying it as long as anyone continues to argue that it's "wrong" to pay for something but then not use it the way that they would or think it should be used, that just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

Did you enter the Disney Vacation contest today?

That is what we do. The valet is so much more convenient for us. We went in June and they were perfectly fine with it so I don't know if crowds play a factor in it.. Especially if your kids like riding the monorail, they will like it. At MK you just take the short walk right into the park and at night when waits are long for the transportation, you just hop right in your car and are back in most cases(at least our trip in june) before you would have even gotten on the WDW transportation.

Got it! :thumbsup2

You're making an assumption based on no information. Your accusation is the difference between:

"Entering the contest using multiple e-mail addresses on a single day is against the rules." and "I 'know' by the way some posters post that they're breaking the rules by using multiple e-mail addresses."

First statement is fact; second is unsubstantiated and seemingly intended only to misdirect from the actual topic.

I have another question. If I haven't bought my tickets through Disney and don't care about MB's ... can I link my ticket to get the FP+ for the entire length of my ticket?
It would save me having to check in being Canadian and all to obtain those MB's!
I'm down to less than 60 days, not sure it even matters what I do at this point lol

You currently need the MB to use FP+. It's what they scan when you enter the lines. Booking the FP+ but not picking up the MB doesn't help you at all. You wouldn't be able to use them.

P.S. Thank you Laketravis you reminded me to go enter the contest!

You are misunderstanding. When our family used the buses, we paid to park at MK, front row parking because we were there so early, then we hopped to the other parks. We ended our night at MK where we were able to walk to our car and bypass the trams. It is true that you can not park at a resort and use Disney transportation if you stay off-site. That is against Disney's rules. But once you pay to park at a park, you can use any of their transportation that you want to travel to other parks or resorts. This is well within Disney's rules.

On MDE it says I can link a park ticket?
