Anyone have any recent stories of the great prices and items they found at any of the above?

My story is for yesterday. Was able to snag a Cutco knife set for $100. One of the demo reps was selling his stuff for cheap. Ended up with about eleven items for that price. Looked them up when I got home and two or three of them would have ran me that price on ebay. Not bad at all! That's probably going to be my deal of the month. :)

Share a story if you have one! Thanks!

Last month I found a black leather jacket for $5 in a thrift store. I had been pricing them at the large department stores and those coats cost $90 to $120. The coat looks as if it hasn't been worn at all. Great find!

I had just read this article and found 16 of these at Goodwill for $8 like two days later! Not sure what I am going to do with them, but a good find!

I bought a Dooney and Bourke purse for $10 at Goodwill that originally sold for $500. I've been carrying it a bit but eventually going to send it in to their trade-in program for a $250 credit toward a new bag.

Dooney trade in program?!? How do I not know about this?

As far as thrift store finds, I find lots of good stuff. My last few finds were Gucci boots for $10, Jimmy Choo heels for $8 and a Burberry trench for $15. Unfortunately the trench was a tall and I looked like a little kid wearing her Dad's coat. I sold it for $110ish.
I love thrift store shopping. It's a great way to be a shopaholic and not go broke.

I picked up an American Girl doll the other day for $2.99! So that was pretty exciting (Felicity, for anyone really curious :P)

I've found 2 AG dolls for $1.99 or so. One we sold- neither of the girls were too taken with her, but the other kind of resembled younger DD so we kept her! Makes you wonder who donates them.

I've had lots of big scores over the years at thrifts and garage sales- sweaters I've sold for $100-$200, vintage cowboy boots that sold well...but nothing major the last few years. Just decent stuff to keep for ourselves. Still love to hunt at every opportunity.

It's on the Dooney website; you can trade in up to four bags a year. They give you half the original cost of the bag in a store credit that's good on the website for 60 days. You have to buy a new bag that's double the cost of your certificate; if you don't buy something they'll send you the trade-in bag back.
