Well, I have been to Iowa, so I am going to come up with three for the Hawkeye State.
1. We were road tripping and deviated a bit from our route because for whatever reason, Perkins was my craving. Our server was the sweetest! She bent over backwards so that DD19 could have a safe dessert. At the end of the meal, we mentioned we were road tripping all over the country and she was so pleasantly shocked to meet tourists that were so friendly. She assumed we were locals.
2. Council Bluffs made for an unexpectedly pretty part of the drive. It’s just the other stood Omaha, NE along the Missouri River.
3. University of Iowa was one of the schools DD19 applied to and was awarded a very generous academic scholarship. In the end, it wasn’t a top choice for her but grateful for the opportunity.
On a combined note, if you ever get a chance to watch (even on tv) a home football game for Iowa, you will witness one of the most heartwarming traditions in NCAA football. It makes me tear up whenever I see it…
*I just copied this from the internet…

The
"Hawkeye Wave" is a heartwarming Iowa football tradition, established in 2017, where 70,000+ fans at Kinnick Stadium turn to wave to children and families watching from the
UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital at the end of every first quarter. This 1-minute gesture connects the stadium to patients in the adjacent hospital.
