Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Arkansas is not my state but I’ve been there a few times and recently drove through on our way back from Ohio. Mind you, I’m grateful that I found several places in AR to stop and safely nap not to mention our 2020 visit to Hot Springs, but there are just so many other A things…

Argyle- it is arguably one of my favorite patterns and style elements. I’ve had a ridiculous number of argyle sweaters, vests, socks and tights over the years. Back in the 90s, I saw a woman with the dream…a large diamond, sapphire and citrine bracelet where the stones were set in an argyle pattern.

Armadillos- I have seen so many of late. I swear, I go into Disney Princess mode when I see them and start talking to them like I have some kind of connection with woodland creatures.

Avocado- They are a regular part of my diet and are a great source of fiber and good fat. Oh, and they’re yummy!

Sonic just down the street...took Oregon 12 years to have the establishment

Hot springs had a pottery surround on a fireplace worth $1,000s... being a antique vendor... that was the highlight

library on the Arkansas River.... Only the outside view and the only one I have seen...critics where right. Coast starlight does have a simple platform at Simi Valley.... I guess for the political science students... alas couldn't see that library also

What brands of orange coffee do you like? Is it available in coffee pods?
I don't really have a favorite brand. It's hard to find, mostly only in specialty shops, so when I DO find it, I grab a bag.

A things...
Airplanes: If it wasn't for an airplane, I'd be stuck in New Orleans! Aw, shucks!!
Artificial joints: Yes, I am that old. As much as I don't love my new knee, I'm glad I was able to have it replaced.
Acadia National Park: I am fortunate that it's only about an 80 minute drive from my house to ANP. Also, I used to work in Bar Harbor and could see Cadillac Mountain outside the lab window. Such a lovely park!

Today's Topic (Mon, 1/12) - 3 things you're grateful for on your desk or in your work area (kitchen, shop, art space, etc.)

Good Monday Morning!

I have 2 desks - one at home and one at work. I’m going to narrow it down to my work desk, since I sit at that more.

#1 - TWO LARGE MONITORS - When my boss got these for me a few years ago, I wasn’t sure I’d like them, and now I can’t imagine doing my job without them - they’re great! I’m so grateful he got these for me.

#2 - MY DESKPAD CALENDAR - Not only do I put everything going on with my life on it, I use it as a notepad for work.

#3 - MY LARGE CALCULATOR - I love this calculator. It was my best friend when I had my store - custom picture framers use a calculator a zillion times a day. Every time I use this calculator at work now, I think of my store.

The coffee mug full of wooden pencils; I refuse to use mechanical pencils.
The window at my desk that lets me see the mountain, my bougainvilleas, and the birds;
My little Chihuahua asleep in her bed next to my desk.

My fan - While I'm quite chilly right now, I just never know when I'm going to turn into an internal combustion engine. I have a mini tower fan that turns on its side that's pointed right at my face in case I need it.

Desk button - My desk can be raised and lowered with the press of a button. I choose to stand most of my days, but every now and then, sitting is preferred. Either way, I'm thankful for that button and that I'm not having to do any of this manually.

Speaker Phone/Headset - It took a while to realize it, but the speaker on my headset is strong enough that I can just leave it in place. I'm not a major fan of having things on my head, so I'm happy I can just leave it in its dock in case I need to take any calls for a meeting.

The glass top under which I have pictures of people I like to see.

Dollywood large cup with handy pencils and pens.

Catch all Mickey bowl with little snacks.

>My new set of pens. I buy a set every year, and they "arrive" in my Christmas stocking. I love being able to grade with so many colors! (the bronze is my favorite!)

Evening all,

I have a desk at home and one at work, although the one at work isn't officially mine (we work on a hot desk, first come first served basis). And when I'm working from home, I don't always use the desk, preferring a comfier location where a cat or two can curl up on my lap instead. So I'm opting for the work desk.

1. A clean desk - one of my many irritations with hot desking is when the person who used the desk before you doesn’t clean it up and leaves it messy with coffee mug rings all over it. So I'm very grateful when I get in and find a nice clean desk!

2. Everything present & correct - so all of our work desks should be kitted out with monitor, peripherals and cables so you can just plug in and work straight away. Unfortunately this isn't always the case as people nick them, so I'm very grateful when I get in and find out that everything is present and how it should be, and nothing is missing.

3. Bluetooth headset - my work still lives in the dark ages and doesn't give out wireless headsets as standard, which is a pain when you're stuck in long meetings. I bought my own Bluetooth set and it's a lifesaver in letting me get up and about when on a meeting.
