Three Things...Gratitude Thread

1. Today - I am alive and well;
2. Time - the time I spend with my little family each day;
3. Teachers - I have four in my family -- my two daughters, my son-in-law, and my grandson-in-law (teacher's aide). They work so hard and get so little in return. The teachers that I had growing up were such a blessing to me and I have never forgotten them.

TOMATO PLANT
This plant was appointed to me

Jonah 4:6... The Lord appointed a plant a plant to cover Jonah with shade

I was feeling ill..as though the cancer was invading my body cavity... when I entered this yard to measure weed growth for my attention...I immediately felt touched and calm.... 😲 What is happening...so the dog and I walked to back yard in MAY and this is what I saw

Growing in the extreme heat... between two bricks.... with no water.. so for six months I watered the plant and used it for prayer time for folks here...my Bible study....my family

Inspired by a Halloween event I attended yesterday...

Today's Topic (Mon, 10/27) - 3 treats you're grateful for

Happy Halloween Week Everyone :wave:
I’m looking forward to wearing all my Halloween shirts to work this week 🎃👻

My first thought is food treats, but I’m going to list treats that aren’t food that I’m very grateful for…..

#1 - MANICURES - I love getting a no chip manicure every 3 weeks. After DD22 retired from softball, and I didn’t need to pay for any more hitting lessons for $40 a half hour, I told myself that I’m now using that money for me and now I get manicures and I love it!

#2 - NEW PUZZLES - My puzzles are $20 each, so I treat myself to a new puzzle 3 times a year.

#3 - CHRISTMAS SWEATERS - Those gaudy Christmas sweaters are expensive and I treat myself to one every year. I have quite the collection now. I wear them every day to work starting December 1st.

"Treats!"

An overnight or weekend away with DD. We see a lot of each other but are always so busy with home, family, work, outside commitments, etc., that we don't have time to just be. It's a real treat to sneak away with her for overnight. Favorite activities are ordering pizza and salad, to enjoy with a bottle of wine and movies. Dessert would be B&J's Chunky Monkey!

I'm not a huge sweets fan, but I'm always happy to have a few bites of a home-baked cake or pie. I can leave the store bought and bakery stuff alone, no problem, but homemade is a whole different story!

Also in the "not a sweets fan, but..." category is Lindt balls. I'm good for ONE, but with the right filling? White chocolate? I savor that puppy! I also will 'tolerate' the milk chocolate coatings 😉

@TiggerTrigger Yeah... could ya tell I hadn't had anything to eat yet, when I posted?
All the eggnog stuff is on the shelves here, but I'm waiting for the peppermint stick ice cream to show up!!
LittleGuy just said he wants eggnog pie for Thanksgiving dessert, so I guess we'll be doing eggnog for a while this fall!

It may not be the same brand, but I noticed the peppermint ice cream next to the eggnog flavor the other week. I prefer the minty stuff as well. While they are still in Halloween mode in the candy section (no candy cane Hershey's kisses just yet), the baking section had the Ghirardelli peppermint bark chips and the York Peppermint Patty baking bits. They were almost gone, so I grabbed a bag of each!

Halloween Cheesecake Dip - We'll see if I'm still grateful for it come Saturday, but I've seen several people making dips using the premade Philadelphia Cream Cheese Cheesecake tubs. I bought caramel sauce, hot fudge, candy corn (the chocolate tipped ones), and caramel apple candies to top it off. Then I got sugar cookies to act like "chips." Of course, I can see myself digging into the candy and using things like Twix and Kit Kats to also do the dipping.

A few extra miles - Yesterday, we got rained out for softball. I had so much pent up energy, had some fun music I've been enjoying living in these last few days, and my feet were willing...so I treated myself to some extra time on the trails. That extended to the elliptical at the gym. I was still so pumped up that I went another 2+ miles on there when I wasn't supposed to do any. It made me happy :)

Shoes - Seriously...it's my favorite treat. Even just unearthing a pair I haven't worn in a while or that aren't in regular rotation because they're more over the top... and then giving them their moment to shine feels like a treat.

Quiet evening listening to music being able to read my book in peace

A bath to be able to soak in a bathtub and not be bothered and not have to worry about my dog jumping in because he thinks it’s his bathtub and his bath🤣🤣

Candy apples more like a chocolate covered apples with Reese‘s peanut butter cups because that’s how I make my candied apples and eating those with no guilt about all the calories or even better back when you spilled to get one down at DISNEY and enjoying those cause calories don’t count at DISNEY

Treats . . .

Ice cream - It’s so expensive these days that I only buy it on a good sale. Watching for a sale now to get some for Thanksgiving

Spontaneous trips - it’s nice to just wake up and decide to go to the beach or Disney for the weekend if I see a good hotel rate

A new book - I love to read and a new book is as good as a box of chocolates
