Three Things...Gratitude Thread

In regard to yesterday's topic/post, after a lot of introspection and thought, I'll say my mother-in-law. I know, believe, and felt that she truly loved me, just as she loved her daughters and sons. We lost her unexpectedly on Thanksgiving of 2018, and life has been different ever since.

Numbers...
I have turned into a math geek in my old age, so MATH!!

My wrist watch. It's analog, not digital, and I love knowing what time it is. I don't have a phone and nobody wears watches anymore (because they have phones) so I am really happy I bought a watch.

My scale. I know, the woman has lost her mind!! After decades of being anywhere from overweight to morbidly obese, I finally had bariatric surgery and lost a LOT of weight. I have managed to keep most of it off (there's about 5 pounds I wiggle around with), and seeing the numbers on the scale each morning reinforces that I did lose weight successfully, and I have kept it off... and don't hate myself for being weak anymore.

I’m with you LeeBee on the scale choice. I love the bright and easy to see read out that includes tenths! ( makes me feel better when even just this go in the right direction) As a Type2 Diabetic, it is one ore way for me to feel in control and to rein myself in when I get out of control.

My Mickey Mouse analog clock. I appreciate digital clocks, but I guess I am just old school and need to see the spatial aspect of an analog clock to really understand the passage of time.

I just love numbers in general, especially when there is something cool like a palindrome week in a month. (as there was this month)

Honorable mention: Disney Trip Countdowns!

I've only had mine for around 8 months, I'm doing my first long journey (over 400 miles one way) next month which I'm rather apprehensive about!
Thank you.. I find the concept interesting.. look forward to your trip report... I liken it to folks hearing about the first automobile..."where you going to feed it"

Hugs extra dear Leebee.

I was gifted a dozen tasty mini birthday cupcakes this morning. Dad and I enjoyed a couple and it was fun sharing the other eight. I would have loved giving each of you one.
Did I miss your birthday??? I'm so sorry! We were at Disney for 6 nights (LittleGuy's First Trip!!!) and it's been crazy since I've been home, getting DD/SIL/LG moved out, prepping for summer session (started yesterday), etc. If I missed your birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY @flyingdumbo127 !!! If I didn't miss it yet... catch you when it happens!

Today's Topic (Tues, 5/13) - 3 salad-related things (or things you could put in a salad) that you're grateful for

Last edited:
Large bowls - for when I want to have salad as a meal instead if just a side

Knowing how to make my own croutons - because it uses up bread that would go stale and saves money on buying the packaged ones

The Pizza Hut salad bar of my childhood - I think it was probably the sense of control, but it always tasted even better than at home

Good Tuesday Morning!

#1 - Edible Taco Salad Bowls - I love making taco salads with these. I’m waiting for DD21 to be home for the summer to make them again.

#2 - Bagged Salad/Lettuce - So handy to make quick dinner salads

#3 - Little Salad Bowls That Were My Grandmas - I love these little glass bowls. They are the perfect size for a dinner side salad

Any recommendations? I am thinking about getting a new bathroom scale. I've contemplated a few that are supposed to read metrics beyond weight, but the accuracy seems questionable. So, I might be better off with something that gives me data beyond rounding to the whole pound.

Dear Leebee, what matters to me is that you and your family, I sure pray, had a wonderful time together with Mickey. My birthday was yesterday. An extra kind wish is always most appreciated just as you are, my friend!

Dad enjoys salads and putting a variety of toppings on and vegetables in them. He mostly gets the ready made salad bowls and then creates his own final product with dressing and other extras.

My beloved late grandpa loved salads.

Eggs - I love having eggs sliced up into a salad.

Shrimp - Boiled, grilled, blackened...it's all good. It's just a nice fresh protein option for a salad.

Balsamic Vinegar - It's my favorite base for any kind of vinaigrette (which I prefer over a creamy dressing).

Honorable mention to: sunflower seeds for some crunch, all kinds of olives, bacon, and grilled chicken.

The company was called Greater Good, but I just looked on amazon and I don’t think they have them anymore.
Just checked again, not in My Orders. They seem to still carry it. maybe it’s a newer model. I bought mine in 2018
