Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Hmm I don’t really find anything boring, so maybe doing the overlooked?

I appreciate clouds with their different shapes and colors, and now my DGD is pointing them out to me as well.

When I am at WDW, I am always looking for the “overlooked” details everywhere. I have so many photos of all the things that have caught my eye over the years. Once upon a time, in the early 90’s, I was a commando guest with my strategies and plans, not so much now.

I also like listening for musical coincidences-like the sound of a text tone happening to be the same pitch as something else I hear on the TV or radio. I guess this would be nerdy as well. :)

Good Tuesday Morning!

#1 - The Internet - It’s so awesome to have information at your fingertips whenever you want or need it. I’ve been using it a lot with little Otis 🐶

#2 - My Pillow - I have the most awesome pillow. I take it with me when I go out of town if we’re not flying.

#3 - My Gym Shoes - They’re New Balance and I’m so grateful the shoe store suggested them to me. I’m on my second pair because I put a lot of miles on them.

My boring or overlooked things I'm thankful for (because I forgot to come back on yesterday) -
🚽 definitely toilet paper
🛠️ household tools
🧺 towels right by the back door

My "just because" things I'm thankful for -
🥳 celebrating made-up holidays
🍪 inventing new cookie recipes
🍕 pizza for breakfast

Good morning friends :)

Dear Leebee, my grandma had a favorite sweatshirt that said, "So many books. So little time." Reading is a fun, comforting blessing indeed that can also be healing.

I also love my pillow, dear Slo. It's been with me as long as I can remember. It's seen better days but is well-loved and appreciated.

Made up celebrations with family and friends are indeed such fun, great answer dear PollyannaMom.

Google & those wonderful how to videos !!! I learn & find so many things from my friend Google !!

Shopping on the internet - so nice to be at your house browsing away for what you want versus going out to all the stores trying to find it - then you can get it delivered to you !!! Saves you the time gas and trouble !! Don’t get me wrong I still enjoy going to stores just not as much !

Sitting outside and enjoying nature early in the morning and late in the evening- catching my pesky deer 🦌 roaming my yard !!

1. When I hear "just because," I think of those little things you just happen to see that you gift to someone else for no particular reason. I saw it, I thought of you, and I got it for you... just because. Sure, you could hold onto it for a bookmarked special day, but it's those random ones that can really perk up life. I just got something for DD15 and I'm really on the fence about giving it to her "just because" or saving it for her bday. The impulse to buy was a "just because" moment, but I know it's not something she needs right now and she's impossible with gifts.

2. I guess in a similar vein to 1...there are things that I might see that look like something a dear friend of mine would like. We don't normally gift each other things, but we may send each other a link "just because..." it looked like her. The real reward is that it usually sparks hours of conversation.

3. Just because can also be a treat to yourself. I know some people look at it as being selfish or too indulgent, but it doesn't have to be lavish to be a good "just because" treat.

Grateful for all the just because moments I can have in my life because my DH and I are both retired.

Grateful for gel ice packs and Advil right now.

Grateful when things work as they’re supposed to: toilets flushing, water going down the drain, AC, power on, etc.

My poorly family member is home and well. That's much more than a 'just because'!

So, my other 2: -

The lighting outside (it's evening, here) is really striking - kind of dark and bright at the same time. I'm not sure how to describe it! ...But, it's still and beautiful.

Adding more storage to the mud room. ...And the opportunity to reorganize!!!!

Happy HUMP Day

#1 - My Christmas China Set - I just love it and only use it on Christmas Day. I should start using it all season for just DH and I. 🎅🏼🎄

#2 - My DH In A Tux - I love seeing him dressed up in his tuxedo

#3 - A Good Fancy Martini - I always enjoy one when we go out for a nice dinner 🍸

Fancy cocktails
Using my fancy cut crystal glassware
Getting dressed up for DH's annual Christmas/Holiday party where he used to work. Amazing food stations, live music, huge Christmas tree, everyone dressed up. He doesn't work there anymore but SIL does, so we are still invited!

Not a fancy person, but I will try.

I will add to the tux theme: I still love seeing my DH in a tux, which I have seen quite often because he is a musician. :)

I love the scene in Cinderella when her torn dress turns into a fancy, sparkling gown!

Christmas decorations, especially at WDW!

Fancy Stuff!! 🎩👑👗🥂🚤🎀

Champagne, especially pink! Also, fruity cocktails. --I don't drink alcohol that much, but when I do, I like something fancy!!

The Grand Floridian Lobby and grounds. -- I know it's not as fancy as people might expect, but I loved the feel of the lobby, with its sofas and live band/grand piano; along with the beautifully curated gardens/grounds.

...Which also makes me think of colorful hanging baskets of flowers.

Another vote for china & formal dinnerware- I ADORE my wedding china. We don't use it often because I have trust issues and always fear someone is going to break it. I have a few pieces from a couple of Lenox's holiday patterns that I also love. I live with some regret that I didn't buy up all of the dinner and salad plates that came into my TJ Maxx and Marshalls when I had the chance, but I don't know where I would put them. As it is, the china cabinet is overloaded. My mom wanted to bring me more of my grandmother's stuff and as much as I want it, I just have no idea where it would go and do it justice.

Sequins/beads/rhinestones- I don't get really dressed up very often, but when I do, I like to sparkle. It has to be tastefully done, which is sometimes a challenge with these elements, but I know it when I see it. It's part of why I allowed DD18 to hit the top of the budget with her prom gown. It was one of the finalists from our online picture reviews, but when I saw it in person, I knew it was hers before she ever put it on. Even the tailor, who is often gruff and grumpy, raved about it...calling it a work of art and rattling off various artist names.

Fancy Food & Drinks- While I'm not a wine or champagne drinker, I do like a variety of fancy cocktails/spirits and I really like treating DH to a bottle of nice single malt. Fancy food can be at home or dining out. I don't get to go out for true fine dining very often, but I have some friends that do and their foodie shares from all over the world allow for attempts at fancy creations at home. Which reminds me, I'm overdue for a trip to a fancy French restaurant. I think I'm the only one that really likes French, but I'm so grateful when I get those chances to have it. Now, if only more fancy places would add cocktail and beer pairings vs. just expert wine pairings from their sommelier.
