Pink carnations just budding are my favorite flower. Pink in God's Sunrise is miraculous indeed.

Christmas bright red is such a festive and dad's very favorite color. Dad's car is also red as was my old car that was once my beloved grandma's. Our couch is red, so is my blanket, and of course our Christmas stockings.

Green for Evergreenand all of God's new life in nature to me are wonders indeed. I also do like mint green. Grandma Dolores' eyes were hazel with more brown than green but still green. My eyes are also hazel with more green than brown. I've always loved having eye color in common with my beloved grandma.

I’m going with our State pro Sports colors -
Red - my favorite color and our hometown World Series Champion baseball team color - we are 2nd with most World Series wins - behind those NY Yankees

Blue - for our Stanley Cup winning hockey team - we bleed blue !!!

Our Soccer Team - they grabbed all the colors - Red /Blue / Yellow/ Grey & White - each one having a meaning to our city

So many teams to choose from!!! I may have to take a few different angles...

DD15s Mets colors batting gloves - So many of the kids want something that's different that has some pop. Maybe it's because her favorite color is blue, but last year, she fell in love with a pair that's Mets blue with bright orange accents as well as gray. They're hardly unique, but we have yet to play against or with anyone else that has them. The Mets are one of my favorite MLB teams, so I'm good with this!

DD15s Travel Team colors - I'm really grateful that we switched to an organization that has "easy" colors. As much as we like wearing stuff to support our kid and team, the last thing I want to buy is a bunch of parent gear after I've shelled out for new uniforms. The current colors are red, black, and white. I already had a number of things in those colors, but I could easily buy more cheap red tanks, sweats, and tees on Amazon and I can still wear it outside of game days. The extra red also helps now that DD18 is at a red school...oops, I mean crimson!

Orange - No shocker that I'm going to pick this one. It's Syracuse's sole color. Still, it helps me justify some other gear that matches other teams we support. Whenever I can get back to normal shoes, I can justify those bright orange suede New Balances I've been eyeing because they go with Syracuse stuff, Mets stuff, and Astros stuff. It's also been some time since I've been to any sporting events with my brother and SIL, but they are both UF Gators...so, anything orange in my wardrobe satisfies half of the Gator color needs if we're together for a game (and I've decided to cheer them on ).

Grandma Dolores sure loved Reese's pieces--peanut butter and chocolate. Grandpa Sam liked chocolate chip and chocolate brownie ice cream, two mixes of flavors.

My trail mix is leftovers from recent categories:

(School/Learning) - I'm grateful I got to homeschool my friends' kindergarteners during the pandemic. I had enjoyed subbing for years, but it was really fun to get to do the planning, make learning games, etc.

(Just Because) - Stopping for ice cream on the way home from wherever it is you've been.

(Hand-Me-Down Things) - a particular red divan (kind of sofa thing) that we had in our first apartment and that had originally come (I think) from DH's grandmother's place (We got it from his parents' attic.)

I am grateful for the paralympics. As I navigate through my current pain cycle, I find so much inspiration in watching these dedicated athletes!

Grateful that the summer heat finally seems to be ebbing. Looking forward to fall!!

Grateful that the new season of Only Murders in the Building has begun. The first episode was excellent!

Our softball parent group - While I could have gone home, the girls were out there for about 9 hours today, getting ready for the fall season. It's nice being around a group of people you really like when you're together for hours on end.

My office gym - It's not top of the line equipment and it can get boring if I overdo it, but it's really nice to just be able to walk across the hall and workout (it's the same room as my home office). I'm trying to get back into a routine. I put in a little over 10 miles on the stationary bike this morning along with a bunch arm work, some stretching and a ton of reps with my obliques/abs plate. I don't think I would have had time to do that if I went to a gym outside of my home.

Hydrocolloid band-aids - I started using them on my ankle about a week ago. I still have some healing to do, but the progress in the last week is really impressive. The doctor had suggested leaving it open to the air and wasn't opposed to Vaseline or Aquaphor, but I was getting frustrated with the slow progress.

(Sat, 8/31) - Mixed Category / Any 3 Things You're Grateful For

1. We recently returned from a trip to DC where we saw my brother, sister-in-law, and 8.5 year old niece. We hadn't seen them in person in almost 2 years, and it was a very nice trip. While on the trip, I discovered my niece and I are both reading Harry Potter. Her for the first time, and me for the 4th, at least. (It's a favorite series of mine that I re-read every couple of years.)
2. A long weekend for Labor Day weekend
3. Related to number 1 above, today in the mail, I got a package from my niece that included a Harry Potter squishmallow, a Harry Potter Pez dispenser with "mystery flavors" and a note that says, "A little friend and snack for when you read Harry Potter." Oh my gosh. So sweet! And I was happy to discover that the "mystery flavor" pez is just the regular flavors, you just don't know which. Because anything HP and "mystery flavor" is cause for suspicion. Ha!

I loved making my own mixed tapes and I recorded a lot off the radio. Every New Year’s Day when they did the top 100 of the year, I would record those, or the Beatles A-Z, or other countdowns. But my favorites were my themed tapes. I was planning a long drive from NY to southern VA to visit family. One of the mixed tapes I made was full of highway- related songs. I guess now I would just make a Spotify playlist! (So much easier, but a lot of time and love went into those tapes)

Good morning and Happy September friends

The blessing to me from God of this new day and month. I pray to kindly serve Him extra in it. Memories of church choir starting back up at this time following a summer break.

God willing by His grace, this September will have me walking closer to being fully recovered.

God blessed my life extra way back on September 9, 2014, when He led me to join the Disboards. By His connections I have been so blessed to have gotten to know so many lovely people including all od you.

Happy Sunday Friends!

#1 - Getting Dark Out Earlier - I always sleep better when it gets dark out a little earlier, like 7pm. I don’t like it when it’s dark at 4:30pm.

#2 - Mums, mums and more mums - I love them and I buy to many of them - LOL!

#3 - My Halloween/Autumn Decorations come out - starting this month the house will be continuesly decorated until January.

I hate winter with a passion I know y’all shocked by this news but I’m grateful for September as the oppressive humidity starts to go away !! It’s still warm days in the 99s but not so humid

Fall - I love the colors of the trees but do hate seeing everything going dormant for winter - but fall colors are so beautiful I’m grateful for those beautiful natural views

I love decorating for fall - I have almost as much Halloween as I do Christmas decorations- I am one of the few that decorate for the forgotten holiday of Thanksgiving and I’m grateful for all my fall deco as it’s hard to find anymore as stores go from Halloween right to Christmas

My mom’s birthday- she’s a September “baby.”

The first day of fall- We love all of the Peanuts holiday specials and I have specific days when we can start watching each one. The Great Pumpkin starts it off on the first official day of fall.

Work-a-versary- Mine falls in September. I’m celebrating 27 years. I just received a lovely handwritten card by mail from the global head over our division. While she’s been a high ranking executive of some level since joining the company, I’ve known her for quite a few years…even chatted a while the other day. So it added a nice personal touch to the milestone. It’s not a gift level milestone year, but always grateful for employment.

(Sun, 9/1) - 3 things you're grateful for about September
1. Cooler weather!!
2. Our "Christmas in September" collection at church, where we collect money to give our 20+ missionary families an early Christmas gift so they can spend it one what they need for the holidays
3. The last "Bikes and Boats" for this year is this month. They found me a "new" (to them) recumbent trike for me to use and it's SO much lighter and easier to maneuver than the kids one I used last year. Apparently when this was donated to them, one of the organizers immediately thought the trike would be perfect for me, so it's nice to feel so loved and included in the organization, even though I likely just barely qualify.
