Disboards - ❤️❤️

The sites above I’m on the most always looking for friends or information- Google is an amazing source of information and I’m so grateful to all the people who post videos showing how to do something or tell me how or the question and answers as I may be experiencing the same problem
Webmd is great for looking up those technical terms you get from Dr and labs
Or to learn about a disease
Wikipedia is an awesome site for reading about people and events
No better site than the DISBOARDS ❤️❤️
I’m grateful for all of them and a few more !!!

Good Thursday Morning!

It’ll be hard to narrow it down to three :scratchin

#1 - The DIS - The first thing I look at every morning :surfweb:. It’s a blessing to have gotten to know so many of you ❤️

#2 - My Banks - It’s so nice too see what’s going on with our accounts anytime I want. It’s also nice to move money any day and any time. Very convenient.

#3 - Recipe Websites - I’m lumping them all together. It’s so nice to look through these websites for old & new recipes instead of a book (I still use books too).

#4 - Bonus - Facebook - I love being able to stay connected with people through Facebook.

Church website that I watch online worship from each week.

The Disboards for sure.

The Library's website for allowing me to read free Ebooks and both dad and I to order at our closest library branch physical items.

Shopping websites that help get needed and some extra items come ditectly to us especially heavy cases of water from Ralphs.

August joy and a hug to all :)

DISboards, for sure! (I feel like this is a "DUH" so I'm gonna list 3 more sites!)

Facebook Messenger- I don't have a phone, so I don't text. Messenger lets me stay in touch with family and friends. As an extended household (4 adults and 1 kid) it's helpful to have a home messenger thread so we know who is doing what, where, and when.

webmd and associated sites (like cleveland clinic, mayo, etc). Lots of valuable information here. Additionally, the pill-identifier sites. [Yes, we hoard leftover meds (usually muscle relaxants, pain pills, etc). Yes, I know it's not necessarily a good idea, the efficacy drops off, etc. Yes, I am OK with this. When I need a muscle relaxant, I need it NOW, not in 3 days when my PCP can see me.]

I guess Amazon? I hate to support them, but I live in an area with very limited shopping options. Clothes are hard- Walmart or Target. There is a JCPenney's, but it's a dump and always full of their clearance stuff, not much that's very decent. Talbot's- but I'm only 68, not an old lady yet!! Amazon gives us the opportunity to get the things we want/need/like and not have to take whatever is available, or drive 2 hours (each way) to Portland.

All of the things that make it possible for me to work from home- It’s a complicated cocktail of web based products/sites.

Amazon- even before we all had smartphones, I was using the Amazon and Amazon based entities, like Zappos.

School sites- While I’m currently dreading digging into some online stuff for DD17s college stuff, I was really pleased with how quickly and smoothly the online stuff went for DD15. It wasn’t that long ago that I had to go in and do all of this in person.

The DIS, of course! 3 more:

My local library's website - I love being able to put holds in from home and then pick them up when it's my turn!

The NY Times daily puzzle site - I play Nerdle, Wordle, and Connections every day.

Live cams of cute animals!

Websites . . .

Disney related sites, including the Dis, that keep me up to date when I can’t get to the parks as often as I would like

Shopping websites, so I can get things I need delivered if I don’t want to go out

Bank and utilities websites, to make paying bills so easy. I can remember putting a check in the mail and then hoping it would arrive before the due date. Now the payment shows immediately and I can keep a record of it. I can even do my church tithes online these days.

It’s usually been so hot the grass is dead and doesn’t require cutting so often

You can do ALL your holiday shopping as the stores have Halloween & Christmas out & Winter Clothes and Summer is on clearance!!

If you need office supplies now is the time to get them - end of August as kids are back in school and they will be on clearance!!! Don’t go in any sooner too many parents dealing with those horrible list and their kids Not wanting to shop for that stuff !!

Usually last month of the extreme heat & humidity- better temps coming after August !! Still warm for at least two more months maybe 3 without having to worry about ❄️

Great reminder about office supplies, WDWEPCOT, thanks :)

August in years past was when church camps wound down and choir rehearsals would begin again.

August sunnier days and a smile extra to renember Champ as in the old expression of this time of year being the dog days of summer.

Small, fun thing is Sunday will be dad's half birthday. To bring him extra cheer I did make him a card. Little every day joys mean so much.

Visiting two local fairs, and taking those last minute road trips to enjoy the end of summer.

Getting closer to fall and looking forward to crisp mornings and hoodie weather.

Both of my daughter's being excited for school starting up again, and getting to see all of their friends everyday at school.

DD17 and I are August babies. I’ve got a bday in a week, and she’s a week later. So grateful for us.

The Perseids- Peak of the meteor shower is usually around Aug 12-13 each year. I used to get a decent view at our old house, but not much since we moved. I’m supposed to be in Oklahoma for it this year. I’m considering driving a bit for a view.

The memories of summers past- August used to be the last full month of summer vacation. I remember getting through July and feeling a wave of relaxation over having another full month of break. I wonder if my kids feel that way about July…since June is their first full month of break. DD15 goes back to school next week!

Warm clothes in winter

Singing voices in harmony

Special mention for cakes with lots of layers of frosting!!

3 books you're grateful for

The Magic Faraway Tree (Enid Blyton)

websites:

1. Disboards of course!
2. Amazon—kind of hate that I love it but I do.
3. Ebay—we sell extra equipment from our business on there and it’s a nice little side business for me when my other work is slow.

August:
1. Youngest DD turns 18 at the end of the month. She is just starting her senior year so one more year with her precious little face around my house.
2. Our anniversary is tomorrow. 28 years married, 38 years since our first date. I would choose him again.
3. Family reunion next weekend. My paternal grandmother’s side of the family. We hold it at a small ski lodge in the middle of nowhere and are the only people there since it is summer. We spend the weekend and as @TiggerTrigger mentioned upthread it’s usually close to when the Perseids Meteor Showers peak. The viewing is amazing since we are so far away from everything.
