Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Pandemic aside, I pray daily for a kind, compassionate, and permeant Covid end, these last few years have been a time of many blessings and peace for me.

Right now, my feet pain, I am so grateful extra to know God has this, He always has me and that by His Mercy and Love, good will come from this time. Of course, as a human, I sure pray for happy not hurting feet.

3 Challenges:

1. My current job - I'm the controller of a company. I was the assistant controller for a number of years (around 22) and was promoted to the controller position when my boss through all of those years retired. I'm glad I was offered and accepted the position, but I'm also glad that he didn't retire until my kids were older (DS was 16 at the time) because it was a huge time suck at the beginning. I've definitely settled in now, but it was challenging and stressful at the beginning!

2. Losing weight - I still haven't conquered it but for me it's challenging to plan and make good choices consistently, but it is definitely worth it to feel better in my own skin.

3. Raising kids / a family - definitely challenging at times and I constantly question myself if I did enough / the right things, but 100% a blessing that I wouldn't trade for anything!

Challenges:

1. Parenting for sure. Always questioning if I/we are making the right decisions, doing the best thing. Rewarding but hard. And it doesn’t really end. Even the 23 year old calls with dilemmas sometimes. Grateful for the people they have become.
2. Aging parents—had no idea how difficult this could be. My mom passed a few years ago and the few years before that were pretty intense. My dad is still relatively healthy, but a recent minor surgery reminded me that my sisters and I can be going back to that hard place at anytime. I am grateful for the peace of knowing that I did absolutely everything I could for both of them though.
3. Small business—we own a small business and that has its up and downs, but the freedom to schedule our days makes it worthwhile.

Seconding all those who said I'm grateful to be a parent - definitely challenging, but so worth it!

I'm also grateful that some minor challenges I deal with have helped me over the years to better understand students with more severe versions of the same issues.

And per today's inspiration, I'm grateful for puzzles of all kinds (this morning was a jigsaw, but I also play Wordle and Nerdle every day, love logic puzzles, etc.) Little challenges that we have a choice over keep our brains sharp. :teacher:

I’ve ponder this all day
I’m grateful for the mini vacations I’ve taken to DISNEY and the Disney cruises I don’t want it to sound like I’m boasting I want it to sound like family - we gave up a lot of things so we could do our vacations every year because vacations mattered so much to us
I’m grateful for all the Disney stuff I have the pictures the magnets the collectibles it isn’t their value it’s the memories
I’m grateful for all the artwork my kids made all through school I have a lot of it and I cherish it and it from the coupon books for Mother’s Day to the silly pictures they made in preschool I’m not a hoarder I don’t have all of it I just have pieces of it God for bid you keep all of it will be buried in artwork🤣🤣🤣
And finally my Christmas ornaments they’re almost exclusively Disney ornaments except for the ones my kids made and a few I made when I was a kid so you know those are antiques🤣🤣🤣 but again they all have memories attached to them

3 things you're grateful to have a large number of

Good topic!

I'm grateful to have a large number of Christmas ornaments! Love Christmas decorations!

I'm grateful to have a large number of nieces and nephews - I have 15 (plus one of the way) great nieces and nephews on DHs side and I'm grateful for all of them!

I'm grateful to have a large number of shoes - I never used to be much of a shoe person, but for whatever reason, I've kind of become one lol!

Large #
1. Peony Bushes—my favorite flower—I probably have 20 in different spaces.
2. Christmas ornaments—my go to souvenir—I never buy t-shirts or hats, I buy a Christmas ornament.
3. Microfiber cloths—I use them for cleaning, but also instead of dish cloths or paper towels. I have so many I only need to wash a load of them every few weeks.

Only 1:
1. DH—he’s fantastic, but one is enough!
2. Dog—see above
3. Job—grateful for it, but don’t want more than 1 at a time.

Ooh, this is harder. I can't think of anything where I'm glad specifically only to have one (people aside)... Need to ponder this one some more. I probably missing some obvious answers!
