Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Good Tuesday Morning!

Quickie answers today….

#1 - Grace given through Reconciliation/Confession - I try and go once a month

#2 - Grace given through taking part of the Eucharist - I go to Mass every week

#3 - Grace given through prayer - I pray every day.

(Tues, 10/17) - 3 times you were grateful for grace or second chances

I love mulligans!

1. When my kids were little, we watched the movie Groundhog Day - after that when our day started off badly, we would call a groundhog day and start again. I think it really helped have an easy way to reset and try again!

2. At a part time job when I was in college years ago, I had to run a process that sent all of our billings to our main office headquarters. I messed it up one afternoon and everything was lost for the day, so everyone had to rekey a bunch of information. Everyone was so nice to me and definitely offered me grace!

3. Most importantly, the grace offered everyday through my faith

Grace and Mercy of God how beyond grateful I am for every moment of every day! Extra last night that He allowed me a good sleep.

Love your Groundhog Day tradition, Newski_mom, what a fantastic idea!

Starting over at times with a task at hand can be most handy and bring new prospective, too!

Taking a break, time away from something and coming back can also be such grace.

I'm drawing a blank!

Except that, every morning - every moment - is a potential Mulligan. :sunny:

And on that note, I'll take the second chance to appreciate the last few days' topics, which I missed: -

Chikdhood
The freedom to get on my bike (with far less traffic around) and just 'be back later'.
Creative play without the expectation of computer-printed perfection.
Enid Blyton and Judy Blume books, plus many more. Screens were a much smaller part of life.
Two local swimming pools.

"L"
Lucozade (a fizzy drink)
Lie-ins!
Lazy rivers
Libraries

Sports/Dictionary/Department Stores/World Food

I'm glad I experienced the hey day of department stores. They're fading over here, but for quite a few years I lived near a particularly good one.

Sport - taking part, watching; plus, it was a big part of my childhood. I really enjoy it!

Dictionaries, in the past a necessity and I think that helped expand my vocabulary. I'm very grateful for that.

Food. I am so fortunate to have, not just enough food, but food that I enjoy.

Second Chances are a wonderful thing I’ve given out plenty of them and I don’t mind doing it people make mistakes things happen I understand them I myself make them in groups of three always have probably always will with that being said unfortunately my life has been surrounded by people with mental illness who are dysfunctional they do not as a general rule give second chances as a matter of fact my experience with them is they seem to think they’re perfect and will persecute you when you make mistakes so I don’t have much experience in the second chance department I am not saying that I don’t make mistakes I’ve made plenty and i own them there is just no addressing them with the people that were in my life
My boss is a tendency to be the same way or some strange reason he doesn’t think people make mistakes I’ve explained to him before I am not Jesus I don’t walk on water I will make mistakes and I will do them in groups of three so if you find one there’s two more coming or you haven’t found the other two🤣🤣
My philosophy is just about everything can be fixed except death as long as you’re willing to try - most of the time with most people I’m willing
I’m forever thankful and grateful for my friends because I don’t have these issues with them❤️❤️😀

I agree, it's so important to know when to offer second chances and when, perhaps, not to. And to be clear that, sometimes, you need them for yourself. We could all do with being more vocal about the reality of being human!!!!!

:thanks:Leebee and your husband for doing that:grouphug:

I enjoy "giving back," whether it's through community service or just hosting friends and doing nice things for them. The past year has been a challenge physically, and I haven't been able to plan, organize, and host parties, events, etc. However, being part of a community of giving, where I don't take on the total responsibility for accomplishing something, has been gratifying.

I'm really drawing a blank on the "mulligans" thread. As a parent/step-grandparent I try to offer second chances when a behavior or attitude is going downhill. Nobody's perfect, everyone has a bad day or snaps occasionally, and I try to remember that. Also, I feel like I was given a "second chance" with my cousins on my father's side of the family. The situation wasn't anything either they or I caused- it was something between my mother and her sisters-in-law, after my father died- but I was 100% out of touch with my cousins for decades. One of them finally reached out and invited us to a family "girl cousins get-together" about ten years ago and we all decided it'd been too long to be so distant. It's been wonderful to be back in touch regularly, and I know how much I missed them all. I'll be forever grateful that this relationship has been re-established!

Tuesday's Answers -

All the times a problem with my car turned out to be an easy fix instead of major repair!

Watching my friend's twins when they were little and getting a chance to relive some of the fun activities I enjoyed doing with DS at their age

And (thanks for the reminder, @leebee) reconnecting with a cousin who used to live far away and is now close enough for regular get-togethers

I'm grateful to have slo's polls to look forward to on the DIS every weekday morning. :goodvibes

I'm grateful to be looking forward to a short trip to visit family in Florida in November. ✈️ :sunny:

I'm grateful for the anticipation of holidays. I love to decorate and plan things. 🎃 🎄 🐇
Thank you very much :goodvibes
I also look forward to this thread every day. It makes us focus on the good things in our lives, which I love. My friends call me “the silver lining girl” because there’s always a silver lining to many situations. I like to think positive and this poll is awesome for that. So thank you @PollyannaMom, I know how challenging it can be to think of something new every day without repeating topics and you do an awesome job. You definitely contribute to keeping The CB a happy and positive place :goodvibes

I look forward to chatting with my friends on the DIS daily ❤️
I look forward to doing projects I have in mind around my house 🏡
I look forward to spending time with my crazy dog trying to teach him to be calm we are making small baby steps but we are making some progress!!

I look forward to this thread and to @slo 's polls every morning! Yes, they are silly little things but it's nice to see some upbeat things on the internet and also to be making friends with so many who respond!

Last-minute Mom/Daughter trip! DD30 and I are off to Disney Nov 4-8. She can only stay until the 6th so it'll be a real whirlwind trip with her, but I don't care. It's gonna be a great break- she is my favorite travel companion and we are gonna have FUN!!!

DH and I have both had orthopedic surgery in the past few months (my knee in June, his shoulder 2 weeks ago). I am SO looking forward to feeling whole again and not have an achy knee all the time (my muscles are being really cranky about this). I am looking forward to DH being better, to not having to wrap his shoulder in saran every morning, to not having to wash his armpit and feet with every shower, to not having to button his cuffs and waistband! I'm just being silly, I don't mind helping him, but it does make everything take longer and I'm ready to go back to "normal." I am REALLY looking forward to our bedroom not looking like a hospital ward, with ice circulators, walkers, crutches, recliner, leg wedges, heating pads... not that we need all of this anymore, but with our healing limbs we can't really get the stuff to the basement to put it away. Mostly, I am looking forward to us BOTH BEING WELL AGAIN!

(Wed, 10/18) - 3 things you're grateful to look forward to

1. I'm grateful for this thread and look forward to getting on the boards to check my followed threads each day. Sounds like I need to check out @slo 's thread each day too! Sounds fun!

2. I'm looking forward to the trip DH and I will be leaving on next Friday! We've been having fun getting away more often now that we don't have so many obligations with the kids.

3. I'm looking forward to the upcoming holidays! More family time, fun traditions and decorations!
