Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Quiet Times or Spaces

This is an easy one for me, as I'm definitely an introvert! (I actually do enjoy social things - just in small batches and cushioned by "recovery time." ) I'm grateful for:
  • The early morning hours, when I'm the only person up in my house
  • Being outside and just slowing down for a little while
  • Evening routines when I'm winding down from the day
Oh, and libraries - can't forget libraries!!

Today's Topic (Mon. 1/2) is Three Quiet Times or Spaces You're Grateful For
1. My garden, it's my sanctuary
2. When the day is done, and I can escape to the quiet of the bedroom. That's my dreaming space, and I look forward to it every night
3. My porch swing. I have spent hours out there by myself, just taking in nature and the peacefulness

I’m alone most of the time - I enjoy my own company but I always have a dog so technically I’m never alone -
At night when I sit down to read my book
In the morning when I read the DIS with my coffee
Saturday when I clean my house
Sunday when I pay bills
Best one - when I watch TV - no talking no interruption no having to explain what is going on - priceless !!! Volume where I want it - watching what I want - falling asleep in the chair and missing it 😡
I enjoy my alone time - after what I went thru I earned it ! I won’t say anymore on that subject
I do enjoy people I just don’t enjoy going out a lot - never really have for lots of reasons - I save my funds to spend at Disney - then it’s nonstop doing things !
But I still read my book most days !!

Love the gratitude thread. I may not always participate, but I love reading through. Thanks for keeping it going.
I"m an introvert through and through.
1. Our front room/library--hiding out on the loveseat there (can't be seen from kitchen/den/upstairs)
2. weekend mornings (and some weekdays) up here in the bonus/computer room, on my PC. Everyone else sleeping, or downstairs
3. In the car, blaring my 70s/80s music

Quiet Things:

1. The evening hours when the house is winding down. My DH is an early person and I am a night owl. Older girls are mostly away at school and my youngest requires a lot of sleep—difficult to do when you need to be up about 6:30 so my house settles early on school nights. I love that time.

2. There was a time when I almost never left the house by myself. Now it seems like I am usually alone in the car. I like listening to the music I prefer or a couple of podcasts that I follow.

3. I work part time so I often am home alone during the day—sometimes most of the day sometimes just for a few hours here and there. I like the time to get things done without interruption. I much prefer cleaning when no one is here to walk on my still wet floors or need to get into the bathroom right after I sprayed cleaning solution all over the shower stall.

1. Early mornings in the summer drinking my coffee…especially at the beach feeling the bay breeze…walking alone in the sand collecting shells and colorful rocks…taking an early morning dip…Heaven on earth.

2. Reading…before bed every night…by my pool…mostly at the beach.

3. When I have a day off and everyone is at work…talking to myself…clearing my head.

Happy Monday everyone!! :dogdance:

As much as I love a good party, I do love my quiet time too.

#1 - I'm grateful for the quiet room in my house, which is the living room - there's no TV, no radio, no anything that makes noise. It's the perfect reading room.

#2 - I'm grateful for my church - I get to Mass about 15 minutes early so I can sit in the quiet to pray and reflect.

#3 - I'm grateful for my front porch when it's nice outside. We live on a dead end, next to a forest, and when it's nice outside I like sit outside on my porch to read and watch nature.

Three Quiet Times or Spaces You're Grateful For

I am definitely an introvert all the way! Pre pandemic, having been so blessed by God to have grown in faith and I pray gotten to serve Him in different ways at church definitely helped me overcome some reservedness. I do appreciate quieter times for sure and have come to cherish even deeper during this time of Covid that being still truly does provide such peace because it is when we are still, that we are best able to hear His voice and grow in our faith and relationship with God--what a miracle, of course, being able to do that is!

1 Early morning/before bed quiet times of prayer and extra communion with God.

2 Pre pandemic, I enjoyed sitting in the small Chapel at church and praying/being still.

3 Memories of walks along a small beach way up state that always brought me a lot of comfort, peace, and feeling His extra Presence beside me.

Looks like I missed some good ones. But I will do purple.

Grateful for:

1) A woolen cape I just bought, made in Scotland, it’s green and a beautiful purple.

2) An old friend was a “purple person” - everything was purple with her - so I think of her when I think of purple and appreciate our friendship and the many things we had in common (birthdays, politics, animals, music, etc.).

3) A beutiful amythyst necklace that was my mother’s and is now mine. I think I need to wear it more often.

LOVE purple.
1. thankful for my beautiful purple birthstone, amethyst. One of the first 'fancy' rings I ever got was a small amethyst ring.
2 thankful it's part of the purple/gold, LSU colors, where I went to grad school, and still love saying Geaux Tigers
3. thankful it's part of Mardi Gras colors.
honorable mention, my purple clothes, esp my fairly new, soft velvety sweater. Wear it all the time, and my LSU sweatshirts. My older son also has a purple tuxedo he'd wear to the LSU games

Today's Topic (Tues 1/3) - 3 Purple Things You're Grateful For

My favorite color!--This is an easy one for me!

1. The lilacs in spring, my favorite flower
2. Anything and everything Figment I own. He's always been my favorite Disney character
3. My new purple phone

I have to admit there was no special motivation for today's topic. I just looked at the list of colors, and purple wasn't crossed off yet. But here are my three:

My favorite purple water bottle - It fits in my car's cupholder and the little stretchy side pocket on my backpack, it's easy to wash, and it has an attached flip top.

Lilacs - Borrowing this one from above, but they're just so pretty, and they smell so good!

Grapes - I grew up in the Finger Lakes region of New York (wine country) so grapes (purple or otherwise) just sort of "smell like home".
