Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Skipped Tuesdays, as there is nothing about that day that really makes me grateful, lol

Today's Topic (Wed. 12/27) - 3 Incidents of "Pixie Dust" You're Grateful For

1. Hubby and I were on our way to WDW for our honeymoon. Our flight was scheduled out of our local airport at 7:30 am. At 6:30 we got a phone call saying because of the weather, the flight wasn't happening. They told us if we could get to Pittsburg before 10, that we would be put on the flight leaving shortly after that. We are almost 2 hours away from Pittsburg, but we jumped in the car and got on our way. We got there, only to find out that the flight had left 20 minutes earlier. We were devastated. They scrambled, trying to find us something else. They had a flight leaving shortly, but only first class seats were available, so they put us in there for nothing. Best flight ever! I had never flown first class, and while it's not something I would ever pay for, it was nothing but pixie dust for us. We got to WDW only a few hours later than we expected to after all. We still have no idea why our original flight was cancelled, as the weather was perfectly clear at home, in Pittsburgh, and in Florida, lol . Guess Fate was stepping in that day!
2. Same trip, we were in Dinosaur Land I think it was called at the time. Hubby insisted on wearing a fanny pack with too much stuff in it. We stopped to get something to eat, and he realized his wallet was gone. I was panicked, but remembered someone had told me,,always find the closest CM and ask for help. I did, and he called whoever he needed to. He was told that the wallet had already been turned into guest relations at the front of the park. Thank God for pixie dust and honest park goers
3. Again, same trip. It was our honeymoon, and they gave us honeymoon pins. Everywhere that we had dining reservations noticed the pin, and we were given the best tables I had ever seen. Even at Rose and Crown, they told us they had no outside tables to watch Illuminations, yet magically a table appeared. That was one of the highlights of our trip watching it from that vantage point.

Pixie:

1. Given a preferred parking pass to AK just because
2. Given an extra hours evening ticket during the Million Dreams campaign for Epcot
3. At the French Quarter Inn in Charleston, given a suite and champagne for our birthday celebrations

Wood:

1. My 1940s hardwood floors in my house. Love them and don't miss carpet at all.
2. The wood table my father in law made many years ago.
3. The wood furniture my parents bought more than 40 years ago overseas that is still beautiful and will be passed down one day.

Your Park story about the wallet made me remember how many times I’ve found wallets and turned them in to Cast Members - I recall coming out of the restrooms at Magic Kingdom and there was a wallet - turned it in - five mins later a woman is dumping out her backpack looking for her wallet - I went over and told her who I gave it too
Another time at EPCOT right off the bus first thing in the morning I look down - 3 tickets laying on the ground - hmm someone is going to need these - I go to the front and look for someone dumping their bags out - found three people woman crying digging in her purse - found them ! Her husband was yelling at her in Spanish she was crying - her sweetheart I found your tickets !!
One last one - again at Magic Kingdom - someone found my DD ticket - annual pass - yelled out her name - guess who carried her ticket from that point on ? Yup I did ! Blessings Always to honest people !!! Thankfully there are still some in the World !!!

Pixie Dust:

1. We went to the Magic Kingdom Christmas party when middle DD was just over 1. Oldest was 4. Middle DD had fallen asleep in her stroller and older DD wanted to watch the parade at the end of the night. We were watching right by the exit so we could get out of there as soon as it was over which was also the start of the parade. One of the last few people in the parade saw DD in the crowd and took her by the hand and invited her to walk with her in the parade. DD was a bit shy but eventually was waving to everybody as she walked. DH and I had to quickly follow. We laughed because we ended up at the back of the park, no quick exit. DD is 22 now and remembers bits and pieces.

2. First trip that we stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge. My older two had 3 planned days off from school in January that year due to building construction. The last day of school was the last day of the 9 weeks and older DD didn’t want to miss. I flew early in the morning with our preschooler and all the luggage. We were staying DVC so had a kitchen so I had arranged for breakfast items, snacks and drinks to be delivered. I was able to get everything unpacked and organized so we could be up and ready the next day. While DH was getting the older girls from school and getting to the airport, I had just gotten our room and was texting him pictures of the animals right outside our window. He was so surprised at our amazing view. We always have nice trips but that one was just extra special. Weather was great, crowds were low and the kids were just happy. I had a great travel day with my youngest. We had a nice dinner together at the quick service at the hotel, had time for a swim, rode Magical Express, explored the hotel. She was filled with wonder at everything and we hadn’t even been to the parks yet that trip.

3. We got married outside the Polynesian. Everything about the wedding and honeymoon felt very special.

Wood:

1. I have a pretty hand made sleigh that I bought at a craft show many years ago. It is beautiful and I have greenery and things in it for Christmas every year.

2. Bedroom furniture: DH found it at an estate sale probably 6 years ago and called me to come look at it. It is solid and perfect for our bedroom.

3. Jewelry Box: I found it at a thrift store a few years ago. I don’t have a lot of jewelry but do have a few special pieces that I wear and the box is perfect for them.

The letter F - what am I grateful for? :scratchin

#1 - I’m grateful for friendship. I have a lot of wonderful friends in my life. I’m looking forward to 4 of us softball moms going out to dinner on Tuesday - our girls have played together since 2015. Two of us now have a DD playing in college and the other two have a DD that tried playing in college, but they didn’t enjoy it and hung up their cleats. All girls are still friends too, so they will join us for dinner since everyone is home from school - it’ll be fun :goodvibes

#2 - I’m grateful for Facebook. I love being able to stay in touch with friends and family on there. Facebook has a lot of haters and to each their own, but I love it and I’d be very sad if it disappeared one day. I do have Facebook friends that are really annoying, so I just unfollow them where I stay friends, but don’t see what they post.

#3 - I’m grateful for my family. We are very small, but that’s ok. During the last two years, after my DD24 decided to walk away from our family, we’ve gotten even closer than what we were. DD’s exit hurt us all, but we‘ve been there for each other (our parents have really been there for DH, DD19 and I) during this challenging time. It‘s a shame that my DD24 is missing out on our family and my grandchildren are missing out on having 4 healthy great grandparents, along with missing out on my DH and I as their grandparents, but I’ve learned to accept it and I pray for her and my grand babies every day to be blessed, happy and healthy.

@slo I wish there was a hugs emoji choice

Letter F

1. Family - like Slo, I have a tiny family and that's ok. It is just DD, DH, and me with my SS (34), SSIL, and GD out of state. We don't get to see them often due to the distance even though we had full custody of him from 12 on.

2. Frogs - particularly the one that somehow got in the toilet and my sister sat down in the night....only to hear "ribbit". Not a dull night.

3. Flowers - honeysuckle, azaleas, and hydrangeas. The smell takes me back to my grandparents yard. We used to suck out the honeysuckles, eat the wild strawberries, and chew on the green onions from the yard. A feast LOL

Fairness
Flowers
Forgiveness
I’m all about things being fair - life is not so that really throws me off
I love flowers - roses especially - those pesky deer love them too
Forgiveness - you need this in your life as we are not perfect and we mess up - you have to learn to forgive not only others but yourself and how to ask and receive and the biggest part - hold up and maintain - often times people get confused with this one - forgiving involved yourself often so you have peace ! Who doesn’t want peace ? Sometimes it just may take a while to get there ! 🤣🤣

F things:

1. Family—particularly the ones I live with but extended as well. My dad is still alive and doing well and although my sisters can make me crazy at times, we are good together in a crisis and really pulled together during my mother’s illness and death.

2. Food—I enjoy it, we need it and my family has always had enough of it.

3. Flannel—I love climbing into my bed at night with flannel sheets.

Family - another vote for this one (and incidentally the inspiration for today's topic, as we had family visiting earlier today 😎 )

Free Classes - there are so many things you can learn on YouTube nowadays, from specialized lectures to practical tutorials, all just because someone took the time to post them.

Furry Friends - my cats, my neighbors' dogs...all the animals who make me smile every day.
