Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Merry Christmas Eve DIS Friends!!!

It’s free for all kind of day :goodvibes

#1 - I’m grateful for my life and my health. My life hasn’t been all rainbows and I have my health issues, but it’s ok, because it’s God’s plan for me ❤️

#2 - I’m grateful for my family, and I’m grateful that we have my parents and my DH’s parents still with us for another Christmas ❤️

#3 - I’m grateful for our home and our jobs that give us the means to afford our middle class life. We are blessed beyond words and I couldn’t be more grateful ❤️

I’m grateful for the skilled Drs who kept me from being paralyzed - I will forever have problems but I can walk and move currently

I’m always grateful to have a job and ins - hard to live life without them

I will always be grateful my DD lived when she tried to kill herself and hope & pray she never tries it again and God forbid if she does May she alway fail and find the help she needs to put those demons to rest

Merry Christmas All - Blessings wished to all of you !!🙏❤️🎄

Big hugs to you. Your post made me cry and I will pray the same thing for your DD. I know what it feels like to be fully consumed by severe depression.

Oh don’t cry !! My main issue is the Chronic pain and the fact there is nothing I can do about my stupid bones - I’m not saying this for sympathy I’m just stating this - it’s the constant battle to not be in pain and not be a drug addict - always looking for other ways to deal with the pain and issues - avoiding Drs is a good one I have found - they are all gloom & doom so I avoid them as much as possible
Some days are worst than others and it’s knowing what you can and can’t do - I can’t do winter it’s brutal for me - I mean I love my fellow Canadians and their Country is beautiful I often go there to visit ( not in winter ) but for the love of God do they have to be so generous and keep sharing their nasty weather with us ? The last batch was brutal and now another section of Canada has decided to gift us on Christmas ( Thank You but really you shouldn’t have ) with more and they’ve decided to top it with that lovely white stuff called SNOW - really some Maple Syrup would have been just fine or maybe a fruit cake or some of those crazy French fries they eat ? You know with gravy on them ? They really need to get off the weather gift giving theme - now if we could convince the Cayman Islands to throw some weather up here that would be awesome !! Heck we should just all grab those fun loving Canadians and go to the islands - who’s in ?? We will charter a plane and sleep on the beach - I know a great spot !!

O Holy Night May each of you, as you arrive at the Manger, experience wonder and joy of God's Miracle to us in Jesus anew. Truly I also pray you know He is with you always. By His Grace, I do care, too and am grateful for you all.

To be able to cherish another day of life, health, ability to pray and praise and later watch online worship in which children's voices will be raised to Christ anew through their Christmas Pageant. Also, to give Him thanks once more for my dad and His Grace and Mercy upon us both.

Grateful to be able to read in general and enjoy doing so each day. Later I will read from the Bible of our Savior's Birth.

:grouphug:to each of you and Merry Christmas!

Funny Stories/Memories You're Grateful For
Oh gosh. There are so many I could list, and I'm just going to list the first three that pop in my head.
1. One Christmas, my uncle got his mom (my grandma) a VCR for Christmas. She was in her 90s, and living with us, her son (the uncle and gift-giver in this story) lived in Georgia, but tried to keep in contact. So he was telling his sister/my mom what to get her. She opens it and says, "What is this?" My mom and I expalin to her what it is, and my mom says, "We can get you tapes from the library, like old movies, or even things like old Billy Graham crusades and you can watch them on the TV in your room." To which my grandma replies, "Well, why would I want to do that?" We were kind of glad her son wasn't there to hear her give her opinion of his gift.

2. Another grandma/Nana story, and one of my last, if not my last interaction(s) with her. I had come home from college for the weekend, and she looks at me and says, "Oh, you've grown!" and I kind of chuckled and said, "No, Nana. I haven't grown for a couple of years now, and I definitely haven't grown in the couple of weeks I've been at college." to which she replies, "Well then, your bust is bigger!" Pretty sure I nearly choked on the carrot I was eating at the time...

(Note: for the purposes of this next story, Brother 2 is my next older brother, the middle child, and brother 1 is my oldest brother. I'm the youngest.)
3. So we have/had a decent sized hill in our backyard, and when it snowed, all the neighborhood kids would come to sled. While it really is a pretty small hill, there were some formidable obstacles at the bottom. Mainly the large tree in our neighbor's yard and their dog, who was just a bit crazy and known to bark himself into seizures. So it was this very careful alignment of the sled to avoid both of them. My brother(s) had just gotten a new sled, one of those "snow mobile" type ones that you could steer. It was my turn to try it out, and brother 2 was going to jump on the back after me, to steer. (Note the word "was" and you'll see exactly where this story is going.) Unbeknown to me, he couldn't jump on. So he's yelling at me from the top.
Brother 2: Steer!
Me (turning my head, not looking ahead): What?
Brother 2: Steer!
Me: What??
Every single kid: STEER!
Me: Wha...
**WHOMP!** Right into the tree.
I was a bit startled, but fine. It was the sled that hit the tree more than me. My brother runs down to check on me. I assure him I'm okay, just a bit startled.
Me: What where you saying??
Brother 2: I couldn't get on the back. We were yelling at you to steer!
Me: Oh.
Brother 1: Could you see stars??
Me (thinking of the tree bark): No. All I could see was brown!

1. The Urbana 2022 -- I'm leaving to volunteer at this conference on the 26th! It's a "missions conference" for college students, but more than what you might think of when you hear "Mission conference." It's basically Missions 101 crammed into 4 days. Volunteers have to be there a day early and I'm leaving a day before that, just to give myself plenty of time without time pressure. 10,000+ participants, and we ring in the new year singing praises. I love it, and no New Year is ever the same after attending Urbana. That being said, I probably won't be posting much that week, but I'll try to catch up after and give a report if anyone wants one.
2. I'm grateful I get to help lead others in worship from the stage on Christmas morning. One service, so it will be all the church family.
3. This one is going to sound weird, but... Related to the number 1... Dec. 28th is the anniversary of my dad's passing, and it's going to hit me different this year, I think, because it will be the first time I'm at Urbana again, which is where I was when I found out. The Urbana conference is only held every 3 years, but because of COVID, they moved it from 2021 to 2022. So I'm just thankful for his 4 years (almost) in heaven, and that I'll be surrounded by people and great music and speakers for his anniversary this year, and that if I completely loose it, I'll be in a supportive environment. (Not that my house/family isn't supportive!) I don't know if I'm expressing myself well, but.... yeah.

(I know this post was a bit of an emotional roller coaster, so I will not be offended by any reaction you give this post. I'll apply to the appropriate part. Ha!)

2. Red Lobster cheddar bay biscuits
Oh, I love those!

Today I'm grateful for the sense of anticipation that is Christmas Eve!

I'm grateful for DH's friend G~~~, who was just here helping him fix a piece of siding that came loose in the storm.

And I'm grateful that the sun is back out today (even though it's cold!)

2.
That is great! DH and I were supposed to volunteer about 10 years ago or so. We were disappointed when we had to cancel. Enjoy!!

Grateful for my family, friends, our health, our safety, our financial security, and our new animal. Also that some friends who swore they’d never have kids are having their first little earthling soon… I’m over the moon because they’ll be great parents. Also also, grateful for God and the hope, joy, and love that comes with my chosen religion.

Happy Day After Christmas DIS Friends!

Let me think - 3 new things I’m grateful for :scratchin

#1 - I’m grateful for my new carry-on suitcase my DH gave me for Christmas yesterday (he gave one to DD19 too). The cases are for our girls trip to WDW this June. We aren’t checking luggage, which will be interesting for me since I’m a chronic over packer - LOL!

#2 - I’m grateful for the new fleece lined jeans my mom gave me for Christmas. These will be great for when we watch my DD19’s cold games this Spring. First game is February 18th outside in NE Indiana - it’s gonna be 🥶.

#3 - I’m grateful for the monetary gifts my parents and in-laws gave me for Christmas to put towards mine & DD19’s girls WDW trip this June. I‘d much rather have that then a bunch of misc stuff that I don’t need and don’t want.

Merry Day After Christmas!!!

1. New countertop ice maker. Dh uses a lot due to the heat conditions where he works.

2. New Christmas check from my parents. They truly bless us.

3. My daughter's new friend who lives close enough to meet us in Williamsburg for fun days.

Today's Topic (Mon. 12/26) - 3 New Things You're Grateful For

1. Our new kitchen floor--finally a floor that won't have to be redone
2. Our new bathroom, which will soon be in progress at being remodeled
3. New ear buds, I use them constantly since hubby puts the tv way too loud and I can't hear my music
