Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Today's Topic (Wed. 12/21) - 3 things you're grateful for... made of Glass, Ceramic, etc.

1. Have to steal from WDWEPCOT again--all of my Disney snow globes and figurines.
2. My great grandmother's Mother of Pearl cannister Set
3. We have an old glass wine type bottle, with a removable top, and every year since we've been married (2000), husband writes a small love note, with the date, and puts it in the bottle. That's something that I am going to keep forever.

Today's Topic (Wed. 12/21) - 3 things you're grateful for... made of Glass, Ceramic, etc.
1. The ornaments we've collected over the years
2. Wine glasses...because, well...wine....
3. Big picture windows that have a beautiful nature scene on the other side....think ocean waves crashing onto the shore; big fat snowflakes falling gently from a gray sky; things like that.

Slo, I also so love that your husband built your nativity set for you.

3 things you're grateful for... made of Glass, Ceramic, etc.

1 My own Nativity set
2 Christmas cereal bowl surprise for my dad
3 Our Christmas tree this year created and made with love by God

Glass things -

1) Sharing the popular answer of ornaments. Here are a couple of my favorites:

8E8CCD79-F672-498D-8EF7-CD913F2B88B1.jpeg one of many Disney ones - this one is from our Christmas 2018 trip.

58BF7481-EDA4-450C-8AC2-F16238C38A75.jpeg one I made at the Corning Museum of Glass (we signed up for glass-bowing class, where you worked with the professional to make something.)

910AD689-94DD-4A99-985E-C9B0837A0DC4.jpeg one of a set of glass hearts that are always on our tree. They are duplicates of a set that my mom had, and I have sent a set to my younger brother and set one aside for DS when he has his own home some day.

2) My Christmas dishes. My stepmom got them for me, and I really enjoy using them each year.

3) Coffee mugs from various trips. I love reliving special memories every morning!

Struffoli has woven a thread through generations, the stuff in stores is never made with lard, which is expensive, so it is ALWAYS wrong. This honey lover's treat shouldn't be light, it should be like chunky weightly delicious little crunchy marbles with orange peel flavored honey drizzled on top then covered in sprinkles moments before it is eaten.
MIL taught me to make Souperior Meatloaf, which is a thing I never had before I was engaged, it is a wonderful family comfort food.
My cousin's "Garbage Turkey Soup" that he shared before he passed away, which I also use for chicken soup. It's basically using all non sweet scraps and leftovers with some spices to make an outstanding but always mildly different soup. Strain out the bits and then add lovely fresh veggies and some extra broth for perfection. Miss him but I make his soup.

I got some if the best recipes ever in Junior High Home Econ class - where my teacher got them I’ll never know as she wasn’t very good at cooking 🤣🤣 but omg are these fan favorites but I’ll just mention my favorite which is ….
Cinnamon Rolls
My Cheesecake
Herman Sour Dough - all the recipes for my starter ❤️
Meat Loaf - only my recipe
My Choc Peanut Butter Frosting ❤️❤️❤️

I could go on and on - several known to just my family that are made over and over. One thing I enjoy doing on cruises is a recipe exchange !!! Always fun trying new dishes !! Can’t wait to read everyone’s listing

According to https://nationaltoday.com/what-is-today/ today is both National Cookie Exchange Day and National Date Nut Bread Day, so how about...

Today's Topic (Thur. 12/22) - 3 recipes you're grateful for

(They can be yours, a family member's, something at a favorite restaurant, whatever...)
Let's see...I've already given the pecan pies and the no bake cheesecake recipes....so....

1. Betty Crocker's sugar cookie recipe (link). It uses powdered sugar, instead of regular. I don't roll them as thin the recipe wants, so mine stay softer. I started making these when DD#2 was a baby, so about 30 years ago...

2. Food Network's Greek Chicken Lemon Soup (link). I like to use more lemon, dill, and feta than it calls for, but it is very yummy the way it is. I do make the farro separately, because I'm not a big fan of making grains in the soup; they soak up too much liquid!

3. King Arthur's No Knead Everything bread (link). When I make one, it's gone within a day. DS will eat as much of it as I let him, lol.

3 recipes:

1. My grandmother's "no bake cookys" - yes, that is how she spelled it. Almond bark, peanuts, peanut butter, and marshmallows.

2. My maple pecan cookies that I created. I ate four of them as soon as they were ready when I made my last batch :D I've started selling them.. (Sorry, I've mentioned that already several times. I don't mean to toot my own horn, they just taste so good lol).

3. The cookies my dad used to make. He doesn't make them anymore. Not sure why not, but he made the best snickerdoodles, peanut butter blossoms, and chocolate chip cookies.

Today's Topic (Thur. 12/22) - 3 recipes you're grateful for

1. My Mother's potato salad--always the recipe requested at any gathering
2. My great grandmother's "dressing" (stuffing). It's just ground pork, ground beef, mashed potatoes, chicken broth, and bells seasoning, but it's my 'must have' for Thanksgiving and Christmas
3. Swiss corn,,not my favorite as I don't like Swiss cheese, but everyone else in the family loves it.

Hmmm . . .

1. Our family’s lasagna recipe. I make it every year for Christmas and my mouth is already watering. It has been around for quite a while, passed down in my dad’s side of the family.

2. My mom’s potato soup recipe. It’s my favorite comfort food. I may make some for lunch today.

3. My grandma’s cookie recipe. They are called Diaper Cookies, because of the finished shape. It’s a yeast based cookie dough that is extremely delicate to work with. There are several different filling variations, but we prefer her date and nut filling. They are so good!

3 recipes you're grateful for

A cook, I am not, and neither am I a foodie in the least. Very basic and plain eater here unlike my dad who enjoys most anything. So, this is a harder question for me to answer. Giving it my best with help from favorite products.

1 Our sugar/chocolate chip cookie recipe
2 Campbell's "recipe" for their Chicken broth which dad and I sure enjoy sharing some of daily
3 This time of year especially Kroger's "recipe' for their hot chocolate that we get from Ralph's.
