Three Things...Gratitude Thread

So, we rescheduled our flights today 2x to try and avoid winter storm delays and cancellations. As a result, we flew from Hartford, CT to Orlando before connecting to Houston. I got to see all sorts of people coming and leaving from WDW. So, I’m going with Disney snacks!

Mickey Soft Pretzels- I love a soft pretzel and even better when it’s in the form of a mouse.

Poutine- I believe it’s a snack in Epcot (Canada). It was on my mind because last night, I introduced DD16 to disco fries…the northeastern US’s version of poutine.

Dole Whip- I’ve made it at home and had it other places like Menchies, but it just hits a bit differently when you get it as a snack at Disney.

Sorry for the late start today - was out early shoveling!

Today's Topic (Mon, 1/20) - 3 things you're grateful beginning (1 each) with M, L, and K

M- Money. Not that we are rich, but we are in a position that if the car needs a $1000 repair, we won't be eating Raman noodles for the next 6 months.

L- Laughter. I always say, you can laugh or you can cry, but there are just so many tears.

K- Kindness. I hope we can find this in the next 4 years.

Good Morning Friends!!!

M - Mom - She's turning 78 this year and with more years behind her than in front of her, I value each day with her more and more.

L - Love - I'm always grateful for the love I can give and the for the love I am blessed to receive

K - Both DD21 and DH - both names start with K. They are everything to me and I am grateful every day for both of them.

Mountains 🏔️ 🏔️ from the age of 5-12 I was surrounded by 4 mountain range peaks in Joshua Tree..3 of which my sisters and I reached the tops... with out any adult supervision . I view a massive range of peaks now... I no longer have a desire to climb the peaks... I know what is on the other side.

Lincoln memorial... from a Gomer Pyle episode where Jim nabors sings impossible dream...to a movie stunt in the movie mad mad mad world 🌍 🌍.. with a Lincoln memorial..a movie to which as a child I have ties

Klamath Falls, Oregon..on the coast starlight Amtrak heading south we have finished a beautiful 4 hour trip up to the crest of the Cascades.. we have 30-45 minutes of freedom to breathe outside in the darkness ..then we board and sleep for 8 Hours till Sacramento hour break

Safety... comfort ... 🕊️ 🕊️🕊️ peace

Mountains I’m not gonna climb them but I do enjoy looking at them they are so beautiful❤️

Lakes - I don’t swim and I can’t stand fishing but I think lakes are absolutely gorgeous and again I do enjoy looking at them or sitting beside them especially the ones with sand better known as beaches🏝️🏖️ Y’all know how I feel about beaches❤️❤️❤️❤️

K - As in King crab 🦀 Or shall we go with kindness that’s also a good one
But I think I’ll go with knowledge - You’re never too old to learn I’m grateful for what I know and I’m grateful that I can continue to learn new things!!

M - I’m going to borrow from @leebee and also say money. A bit more of a setback than her example, but our furnace died yesterday. Houston is about to get hit with unusually frigid (for us) weather as well as measurable snow. I’m grateful that we have the money to have a new furnace installed today before it gets bad.

L - loving friends. I flew back into town around 4pm yesterday. One of my loving friends felt so bad about our heat issues that she met me last night to lend us all of their space heaters. We were in the 20s last night so it helped.

K - our town begins with a K and we have an awesome community page on Facebook with our town name and “kindness” in the title. It has helped me find so many reputable people to fix what’s broken. It led me to the HVAC company on their way as well as a new electrician. I guess we overloaded a circuit last night and at 8am this morning, the assistant walked me through some troubleshooting to help save me some money. I was able to restore the circuit and re-stage the heaters to prevent overload without paying a dime. Kindness!

I considered knowledge!

....so if someone offers you very fresh dungness 🦀 🦀... refuse it... you will never see 🙈 🙈 🙈 King crab again in the way you appreciate now ... it's a curse.. dungness and windfall peaches 🍑 🍑 🍑 🍑

...a dangerous thing.. knowledge...so I won't tell you about available property available here in Yuma where every morning 🌄 🌄 you can reach out touch the mountain range that extends south and north forever....and sometimes on walks I hear Julie Andrews sing
Long commute to our jobs in Maine, though, and you're a little short on ocean, which is my vibe!

Dogs & Cats are a given - very grateful was never allowed any as a kid so I always had some ever since I’ve been out on my own awesome companionship

Horses - Such majestic animals🐎 I’ve been a huge fan of horse racing ever since I was a little kid I watch it all the time and follow it faithfully like other people do football or baseball Or soccer I don’t bet on it but I do watch it every weekend

Bears 🐻 These are some very smart animals and super strong and to mention they’re just downright adorable!!

Happy Cold Tuesday :cold:  (-5 right now)

#1 - Cows - I’m grateful for the beef and for the milk they provide

#2 - Chickens - I’m grateful for the boneless chicken breasts and the eggs they provide.

#3 - Pigs - I’m grateful for pork chops and bacon - especially bacon.

Our dog - Yes, we have snow here. In fact, we are just west of a blizzard warning...which feels totally bizarre. In any event, I let the dog out this morning and she was just such a clown. This is the second time she's seen wintry precip. Last time it was more sleet, but this is snow and she was having such a blast in it. It was a great laugh to start my day.

Food based animals - from the brisket we had last night and the hardboiled eggs I snacked on in the airport the other day to the fish we've caught and the wild game we've had out west...I'm grateful for the sustenance they provide.

Beasts of burden and other animals with jobs - My mind first went to Little House on the Prairie and their dependence on such animals to keep things going, but I also thought of the police dogs we saw in the airport over the weekend and some service dogs in training.
