Three Things...Gratitude Thread

My mom- She's an H name.

Health- I'm on week 5 of trying to get things back on track. I intentionally started before Christmas so that I wouldn't do the cliche start at New Year's just to flare out two weeks later. My health isn't where I'd like it to be but I'm grateful that I'm healthy enough to take on this task. I biked close to 17.5 miles last night and got in a quick little 1.5 mile sunrise walk this morning. I've also been using the standing height of my desk throughout the day just to move around more while working. Just 4 months ago, that walk would have been impossible. Three years ago, I was in the hospital at this time and was dreaming of moving around like this.

Home- Living in a storm prone region, you learn to be pretty grateful when your home is spared from catastrophic damage. A friend posted some pics of her childhood home last night, now a bunch of charred ruins from the LA fires. It really makes you appreciate what you have and how quickly it could be gone.

Highways... Yuma has 3 four lane roads,. one a freeway... one for seniors who need to drive 40 mph and one that is 46 -60 that is scenic...if you think broccoli 🥦 🥦 🥦 🥦 fields are scenic

Hello 👋 👋 every morning in our faux retirement community/winter visitor habitat

Hummingbird feeders out our window..at least someone is getting around this cold desert 🏜️ 🏜️ 🏜️ morning 🌄 🌄 🌄

Happy Wednesday Everyone

#1 - Tires - You realize real quick how grateful you are for them when one is flat.

#2 - Host (at communion) - My favorite moment of the week when I receive the body of Christ at Mass

#3 - Bowls - I have certain bowls that I use for my cereal so I don’t pour too much.

That's funny...a bagel icon appeared in my Windows search field before I cleared it out for the standard calendar.

Wheels - Flying out of town on Friday and reminded of how grateful I am for luggage with wheels.

Camera lenses - I'm always taking pictures. Phones have made it much easier, but I do enjoy lugging around the big camera here and there.

Bedside table - I have a round-top table next to my bed. I am a bit clumsy, so being rounded, I'm not going to accidentally catch myself on a corner.

Antacid tablets... thought I had stayed up late enough before going to sleep but here I am 12:30 MST nursing my acid reflux ..been years but I hadn't eaten a noon meal before the 🦐 🦐 🦐 tacos loaded with triggers for reflux...so Pollyanna thank you for the additional therapy

I had been thinking all day about the 3 round grateful objects

COINS can't drink the water here in Yuma so we bottle our water at a water station (imagine a gas station ) and sometimes it will not take the 💵 💵 so I always bring my pocket coin purse full of quarters

Ferroero rocher candy .... can't believe the percentage of folks who don't like the candy. It's so fun to let it melt in your mouth and feel the flavors blend

....and the cherry 🍒 🍒 🍒 flavor antacid is now my favorite

Today's Topic (Thu, 1/16) - 3 drinks you're grateful for

(They don't have to be alcohol, but they can be.)

Good Thursday Morning!

#1 - Chamomile Tea w/ Honey - I love this drink hot, during the afternoon, in the winter.

#2 - A&W Rootbeer (zero sugar) - I drink one every Sunday with my pizza.

#3 - Water - Good ol boring water. I drink a lot of it every day without fail.

Definitely coffee!! :coffee:☕☕☕

Good craft beer - DH and I went to a brewery with some friends the other night, and it was so much fun!

Propel flavored water - it has electrolytes and is handy to grab when I realize I haven't had enough regular water in a given day and need to feel less sluggish fast

Waterloo Seltzer - While I have my big water filled Stanley next to me (which I go through 2-3x a day), I really like flavored seltzers. I've tried other brands, but Waterloo's got some great flavors and combo packs.

Extra Dirty Vodka Martini (usually Grey Goose, Svedka or Belvedere) - While I love sweet drinks, this is one of my top 2 more savory drinks and I seem to immediately unwind with that first sip. I don't usually make them at home because I can never get the right balance. The bartender usually has one try to get it right or I'll switch to something different (if I get a second drink). Making it with the correct level of brininess is everything. Extra points if they load me up with an additional olive or two.

Uncommon beers - I don't always drink beer because what I typically like really fills me up, but as I've gotten older, I tend to prefer darker beers as well as some ambers. I love traveling out west and being able to get Moose Drool on tap. I also love that our local Parry's targets local breweries. I had this phenomenal stout around Christmas that started off with chocolate notes but had a light mint finish. While on the sweet side, things like Schofferhofer are nice in the warmer months.

Honorable Mention - Dr. Pepper Zero...yes, soda isn't great for us, but I am not a coffee drinker and this is my go-to for caffeine.

Kroger occasionally will have the 8.00 Starbucks 40 oz Carmel macchiato for 5.00. I crushed ice into tall fast-food cups and add milk and very weak prebrewed coffee and then flavor with 1/6 of the bottle ....last for 5 hours ...if I do the math 6x8.00 = $48.00 drive thru savings and fun

May 1 to Nov 1. Here in Yuma you water in your hand till bedtime..so I induced drinking with iced Zuko flavor horchata... drink mix... but just enough to intice drinking ...a mix found in grocery store chain retailing to border living

Pina colada... very rum weak in Algondones Mexico restaurant

Today's Topic (Fri, 1/17) - 3 of Ben Franklin's inventions / discoveries / improvements (yes, you can look them up!) that you're grateful for

Good FRIDAY Morning!

#1 - BiFocals - I should wear them, I’ve tried them, but I just can’t do it - they make me feel sea sick. I’m grateful for them for other people.

#2 - Electricity - I think it’s safe to say we are all grateful for this.

#3 - Swim Fins - I don’t scuba dive, but I’d love to learn one day, so these don’t benefit me. I am grateful for them for all my scuba diving friends and for those that need them to save lives - Coast Guard, Navy Seals/Military, first responders and etc.
