Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Post office... when my first girlfriend lived 30 miles away at a different university and we had no car... going to the dorm post office mail ๐Ÿ’Œ ๐Ÿ’Œ ๐Ÿ’Œ slots... looking for love ๐Ÿ’• ๐Ÿ’• in all the wrong stamps.. post office greatest invention

Library.. our Yuma desert ๐Ÿœ๏ธ ๐Ÿœ๏ธ library has the best scenic view of any library in the US and as a journalist I have been in many.. should be a I-8 tourist stop

Odometer... research says he designed it for ๐Ÿ“ฌ ๐Ÿ“ฌ efficiency ...he should have explore the speedometer instead

Ben Franklin inventions...

Bifocals. I would be literally blind without mine!
His work on the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. These guys were the real patriots, risking themselves as traitors in separating from the Crown and developing a new nation.
I like that he wrote Poor Richard's Almanac. Some satire, some wit, some hidden social commentary, along with good, solid advice... I like that!

Franklin Stove - We had a house in NJ that had one. My parents used it to heat the house in the winter. It was also great for roasting chestnuts at the holidays.

Swim fins- I read that he was an avid swimmer in his younger days and developed fins to improve his speed in the water. He eventually ditched them because they were clunky, but it led the way to what we use for diving and snorkeling today.

Okโ€ฆthis last one is kind of funny because the gratitude is more for the mental image and good laugh it gave me. Related to the invention above, some sources credit him with the concept of adults skinnydippingโ€ฆ which was apparently a favorite activity as he got older. Considering the images we see of him are illustrated or painted, itโ€™s something almost cartoonish (and absolutely hilarious) in my mind.

Today is...

so for today's topic (Sat, 1/18) - if you happen to live or vacation in Michigan, please tell us what you're grateful for about the state!

Otherwise, let Pooh inspire you and do 3 Disney characters, 3 things in Pooh's colors, whatever our fluffy friend makes you think of.

Good Saturday Morning!

Iโ€™ve never lived or vacationed in Michigan, so Iโ€™m going with Pooh Bear todayโ€ฆ..

#1 - DD21โ€™s Nursery - Her nursery was Winnie the Pooh themed and it was the cutest room.

#2 - Honey - I love it and I always think of Pooh Bear when I use honey.

#3 - The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh the movie - Iโ€™ve always enjoyed this movie (I actually like The Tigger Movie more) and because of this DD21 started loving piglet, which turned into her loving pink piggies. We are going to The Crystal Palace this trip so she can see and get a picture with Piglet ๐Ÿ’—

Honey - ๐Ÿฏ- I wasnโ€™t a huge fan of it when I was a kid but I love it as an adult and when I see Pooh I think honey

Sears - I will forever and always every time I see a stuffed and Winnie the Pooh I think of the store Sears because they used to have this huge tower of Winnie the Poohโ€˜s and I remember seeing it when we would go to the mall when I was a little kid and I always wanted a Winnie the Pooh I never got one but I always wanted one and they had them at Sears and I was so looked forward to going to the mall so I could see that tower of Winnie the Poohโ€™s and thatโ€™s what makes me think of DISNEY and magic is that tower of Winnie the Poohโ€˜s in the wonderful world of Disney

Goofy - all of his little videos on him showing you how to do something I just think those things are the most hilarious videos ever theyโ€™re the cutest funniest cartoons and I so enjoy watching them

Darkwing duck My oldest daughter was madly in love with this character and we used to watch every day after school they used to play I think it was four different Disney cartoons in the afternoon and this was one of them and I still got into the show it was so adorable It was nice entertainment for the kids good wholesome cartoons

FYI - I have been to Michigan once went up there for a wedding itโ€™s a beautiful state and the one thing that stuck with me was how awesome and clean the air was up there it was just so fresh and nice I did enjoy my weekend up there it was really nice

A A. Milne....move over J.D. Salinger... literature written for adults but somehow shelfed in the children category. I discovered Milne by accident at an farm auction when I purchased a box of dictionaries...2 days later I walk into the freshman classroom.. GUESS What I Discovered??!!!!!!! I was 25 years old

Roy Batty . Roy Hobbs and Capt Orr...top 3 fiction characters that influenced my life...Eeyore comes in 4th. 100 point trivia question โ“ โ“ if you know where his abandoned parking sign is hanging at Disneyland . 35 years old when I won that trivia cash

Pooh sticks. Our house was a block away from a pioneer dug canal and a bridge with a safe wall for my 5 year old son to drop tropical like floating leaves on one side and rush to the other side to see whose leaves where in the lead. 45 years old

We had a Pooh Sticks bridge, too!! DS used to love that game.

Also grateful for Piglet's Big Movie, because it's the first one we took DS to see in the theater,

and for the time when DS was really little at WDW and we weren't sure he would like the characters yet, but he actually started following Pooh to go meet him.

Ah, Pooh. Winnie the Pooh was the backdrop to DD's childhood. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

Pooh Songs- DD was an only child so I had all the time in the world to spend with her. Every night, I'd cuddle up with her and sing her a medley of Pooh songs as she drifted off to sleep.

Eeyore... my favorite Disney character.

Pooh Mugs- DD is now 31+ and still loves Pooh and the Guys. She and I have matching Pooh sweatshirts, matching Pooh tees. However, now she is in LOVE with Pooh Mugs. I just brought her one from last week's trip, as a surprise, as this was a "me&DH" trip, no parks or anything, no need for souvenirs. Well... I found a Pooh mug and brought it home for DD. Turns out it is the mug she wanted to buy last time she was in Disney but didn't buy it when she was at MK and couldn't find it anywhere else. She was SO EXCITED when I gave her this mug... she had tears in her eyes!

Michigan is one of nine states I havenโ€™t visited. Although, we flew over some of it yesterday after our connection in Chicago.

So, three Pooh inspired thingsโ€ฆ

Crystal Palace- Pooh is DD16s favorite and I cherish all of our memories and pictures from meals at this one.

Pooh cake- DD16s 1st bday cake was Pooh themed. This cake taught me some decor and product lessons, but the recipe for this cake became my foundation recipe for nearly all cakes. It was a huge breakthrough.

The song- I still get happy when I hear, โ€œWinnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh, tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluffโ€ฆโ€

When our church went on retreats there was talent hour.. I read aloud Pooh sticks chapter

I have a complete collection of 1960s post cereal ๐Ÿฅฃ ๐Ÿฅฃ hangers.. except for the green figures.. they were Canadian only

Photo of son and I... soaking wet.. posing with critter country photo opportunity with honey ๐Ÿฏ ๐Ÿฏ ๐Ÿฏ

Good Sunday Morning!

Truth be toldโ€ฆ..Iโ€™m not much of a snacker.

#1 - String Cheese - Itโ€™s my #1 favorite snack. Itโ€™s just enough to take the edge off my hunger to tide me over until a meal.

#2 - Pretzels - Sometimes on a late Sunday afternoon I may snack on some pretzels while watching a little TV.

#3 - Triscuits - the same explanation as the pretzels.

Border wagon ๐Ÿ›ž ๐Ÿ›ž ๐Ÿ›ž or durros.. large single serving and I can โœ‹ โœ‹ each one to the 3 of my dogs..I detect no smell but when I opened the bag...they come running

Celery... with no help... straight off the stalk... now I feel better and know why Grandma ate the strange veggie that was always thrown away after office functions ๐Ÿ˜• ๐Ÿ˜•

Apple ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŽ ๐ŸŽ ok ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜„ ok here it comes peanut butter..my number 1 snack on the coast starlight Amtrak, pull down the tray, knife ๐Ÿ—ก๏ธ ๐Ÿ—ก๏ธ spread the peanut butter and almond butter ๐Ÿ˜‹ ๐Ÿ˜‹ ๐Ÿ˜‹ watch California go by
