Three Things...Gratitude Thread

1. The start of the weekend - can stay up later because I can sleep in on Saturday!

2. I think the vibe of Friday is just more relaxed and enjoyable!

3. When the kids were little they often had sleepovers on Friday nights - either at our house or at someone else's house. It was always great anticipation either way!

Fridays...

This particular Friday -- a change of pace after a ridiculous week!!!!! Oh, and Chinese food and birthday cake (not mine this time, of course. Although, the late queen did have 2 birthdays!! ..... 🤔 😃 🤣)

I actually haven't watched them in a while, but I used to love watching Would I Lie to You, Have Got News for You and The Graham Norton Show on Friday evenings (all BBC).

Anticipating a change of focus over the weekend.

Have a lovely weekend, everyone! 🥂

Kid things...

Definitely favorite foods from childhood: Tuna noodle casserole, spaghetti-os, fried bologna sandwiches. I recently introduced the Resident 8 Year Old to fried bologna!

Cartoons- RoadRunner, Huckleberry Hound, Pepe Le Pew. Also shows like the Flintstones and Jetsons. I still like watching these sometimes.

Sleeping on the couch. When we were kids, we lived in a ranch house. When we were sick, my mom would build us a bed on the couch for the day, and much of the evening, as she was mostly in the kitchen end of the house and didn't want to run back and forth to check on us all the time. To this day, when I need to feel snuggly or secure, or when I am just bone tired, I like to curl up on the couch with a blanket. It just makes me feel better!

Friday things...

I like knowing I don't have to go to work the next day. I usually end up working in some form, but I don't have to set the alarm, don't have to get the 8year old up, fed, and out by a certain time, etc. Flexible morning time, I guess, is a better way to put it.

We only have one lab section on Friday instead of two, so there is less running around for me all afternoon, and a chance to get some other things done for the lab courses.

When the taproom is open, we almost always stopped in for a pint or two on the way home from work. Good beer, friendly local people, a chance to relax and catch up. Happy Weekend!

I guess I am the lone Yankee fan here :) Have been since the early 60’s and have lots of memories of watching games with my dad. You can take the girl out of NY, but….
My dad passed last November and I miss talking sports with him.

Anyhow, Fridays are not the same since I retired, but back when I was working, I always loved knowing I didn’t have to set my alarm!
We love picking up our granddaughter from school on Fridays, knowing that we don’t have to be as mindful of the time we take her home since she doesn’t have school the next day.
I’ve been watching a lot of podcasts lately, (a relatively new habit for me), and many of those I follow release new episodes on Fridays.

Let's go Dodgers!! Being a Red Sox fan, I want anyone other than the Yankees to win the W.S.

I will say the Dodgers are my favorite N.L. team. ⚾
Have you heard of this amazing very winning World Champion Team called the St Louis Cardinals ?? 11 World Champions ( ah more than the Red Sox’s ) so maybe consider them for your other side 2nd favorite since you’re a Red Sox fan?? But yes please cheer for LA against those Yankees 🤣🤣

Good Saturday Morning

#1 - My Orange Leaf Tree - I made this a few years ago. I wrapped autumn leaf garland & lights around an upside down tomato cage. I put it in a flower pot and put a witches hat on top. It’s a lot of fun, and I look forward to having it in the family room every Fall.

#2 - My Green Throw Rugs - I have these in my yellow & green kitchen. When I found them at Kohls last year, I was so excited, because they are perfect in the kitchen.

#3 - Orange Vitamin Water - I love it in the morning or anytime of day, but especially the morning. I’ll be drinking it in the car today as we take a road trip to visit DD21.

Good Morning dear friends,

As a young child I enjoyed the cartoon He-Man. I admired the kind courage of Prince Adam and yes I thought he was also very handsome. Prince Adam's best animal friend is a green and orange Tiger named Cringer. Good memory.

I often prefer green to blue. My eyes are also mostly green. They are hazel but more green than brown. Evergreen, our outside Christmas tree is by God's grace growing healthy and green.

Orange is an upbeat color. Dad and I are daily blessed to share at lunch some Campbell's Chicken Broth cooked in our orange pot.

Orange or green - not up there on my fav color list
Green Grass - it’s a dream of mine to have a beautiful yard of green grass having a dog makes it a dream of mine to have a yard of beautiful green grass and unattainable dream but still a dream maybe someday but anytime soon because I have a dog🤣🤣🤣

Orange and green pumpkins 🎃 and gourds - I do enjoy colorful pumpkins and gourds and purchase way too many every year to decorate with for fall

A really nice salad 🥗- I enjoy getting salads at Disney I think they have some of the best salads anywhere !!

I can appreciate this so much. What great memories. I am guessing you might have some sad thoughts as you watch the World Series but know he is still with you and watching right along with you. :-)

LOL. The Cardinals are an amazing organization and a fan base to match. My reason for not liking the Cards as much is probably a petty one (ok, it is petty) but it is Joe Buck. I felt he made some subtle jabs at the Sox, not totally unbiased announcing.

A more reasonable reason is because my DS19 favorite player is Mookie Betts. It started with his days while playing for the Sox. He even got to meet Mookie on the field prior to a game back in 2017.

You Don’t like Joe Buck ?? Don’t hold him against the Cardinals - he’s just a broadcaster 🤣🤣🤣 I didn’t care for him either !!! 🤣🤣🤣
For full disclosure my families from the East Coast they are huge and I do mean huge Red Sox fans so we’ve had an ongoing rival between us and the St. Louis Cardinals

Well, I’m a Mets fan that also cheers for the Astros. So, my fan season is over. I really wanted a Subway Series. Oh well.

So orange and green. I’ve done orange a number of times, so I’m going with green.

Green room- I spent 12 hours on the road yesterday to get DD18 home to vote (problems with absentee ballot). It’s the first time her green bedroom has been occupied since early August. It was really nice seeing the lights on in the room last night and seeing those hints of green in the hall… knowing it’s actually her.

Green spinach- DH bought me some spanikopita and it really reminded me how much I love spinach.

Green wheel- My vehicle has a feature that helps steer when cruise control is engaged. It’s tied into the lane assist system. A green wheel appears on my dash and heads up display when it’s engaged. It’s so helpful on long drives.

Orange... DH did his PhD at Syracuse University so we lived in Syracuse for 5 years. During that time we became big college football and basketball fans, so I'll say "GO ORANGE GO" even if I'm not the biggest fan of that silly mascot, Otto the Orange!

Green- The first "going steady ring" DH gave me was a beautiful green tourmaline in a silver setting. I still have it, tucked away in my jewelry box.

Green- Lots of veggies are green. Top favorites are asparagus and Brussels sprouts!

Fridays:
  • I have a standing phone call with my niece on Friday mornings
  • When DH and DS have Lodge on Fridays, I don't need to cook
  • Thursday night shows magically appear in the DVR
Orange & Green:
  • Halloween decorations
  • Orange jelly beans
  • A favorite green sweater my aunt made me
