Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Hey everyone!!!

Gotta love the paper products!!!

#1 - I was so grateful for disposable diapers and baby wipes back when I had babies

#2 - I’m so grateful for Bounty paper towels - I don’t know what I’d do without them

#3 - I’m grateful for paper statements - I’m not a fan of e-statements, which makes companies not a very big fan of me - LOL!

Happy Tuesday

After custom picture framing for 25 years of my life, I’ve become very familiar with artists.

#1 - I’m very grateful for my little artists, meaning my girls when they were little. Their holiday artwork decorates my kitchen from September until January. Some of the things they made are about 20 years old now. These are some of my most favorite decorations.

#2 - I’m grateful for a local artist that gets commissioned to paint different areas around where I live, and he made them into prints to sell to the public. . His artwork is cherished by many - I have a few prints in my house. One is a park where DH and I used to go to when dating - lots of wonderful memories and every time I look at this print it takes me back to a simpler time when we were teenagers.

#3 - I’m grateful for Walt Disney and all those artists that have ever worked for Disney. Without him we all would have smiled a little less. I think it’s safe to say that he’s/they’ve given us all great moments and memories.

Today's Topic (Tues. 12/20) - Art and Artists You're Grateful for

1. I have to agree with Walt Disney, and all the amazing artists who have ever been part of anything Disney
2. My younger stepson. He took up painting a couple of years ago, now has some of them for sale in a local gallery and has made many sales to people wanting him to paint portraits of their children, their pets, or their favorite places. We have several of his works hanging in our home.
3. Michelangelo

I'm already stealing two from above:

The Disney artists - I've had Disney art around me my whole life, from the Bambi prints on my nursery wall to the Disney ornaments on my current Christmas tree.

Childhood artwork displayed at the holidays - not only do I have some things DS made on my cabinets right now, I have a reindeer DH made that his mom saved and gave to me, and a glitter star that I made in kindergarten. I'm grateful to our parents for preserving those.

And my third entry is living near art museums. When DS was younger, I took him to the MFA several times, the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum, and the Institute of Contemporary Art. I didn't live close to a big city as a kid, and I was grateful to be able to do something for him that I didn't have.

3 Things You're Grateful for... that are made of paper

1 My Holy Bible!

2 Christmas and other cards from loved ones and friends along with pictures. I am also old fashioned when it comes to cards. I extra pray right now while I am homebound, snail mail is a tiny way for me to be serving God by spreading a bit of added faith, joy, and care, always reminder of His Presence through correspondence. PM me if any of you would ever like some CA mail.

3 Definitely paper products such as Kleenex, paper towels, and toilet paper that I pray to never take for granted again!

Today's Topic (Tues. 12/20) - Art and Artists You're Grateful for

I admit to not being much into art other than I do enjoy looking at pictures. As I get older, I have come to realize how precious a picture of a loved one especially along with you is, same with a happy memory. God willing one day I look forward to taking more with my beloved dad, so pictures are definitely my first answer. Also, my cousin Steve enjoys photography and is so talented at it! Dad is good at drawing, too.

2 All kid artists whose work is from their hearts!

3 This time of year especially I enjoy the illustrations found in the book Santa's Favorite Story.

Happy Hump Day DIS Friends

Today is an easy one for me…..

#1 - I’m grateful for my Grandma’s mirror from her first home (bought in the 40’s). She has written on the back that it belongs to me after she dies and it’s one of my most loved possessions. I also have old photos of my grandma standing by it. It’s strategically hanging in my living room in a place that I can easily grab in case there’s a fire - that mirror will leave with me!

#2 - I’m grateful for my DH’s great grandma’s china - it is absolutely beautiful. We don’t dare use it - it’s so old. It is beautifully displayed in my china cabinet in my dining room.

#3 - I’m grateful for all my Precious Moments (I have about 500 on display) and then my entire Sugar Town in the attic and my Nativity (final count about 600 total).
*Below is my Nativity - DH built me this manger 27 years ago and my grandma’s mirror is slightly in this picture too.

@slo, I love that your DH built the manger for you!

1. I have a wall mirror from my DUncle’s home that’s so beautiful and reminds me of him. He’s been gone for 10 years.

2. Two Boehm birds that DH bought for me. A baby bluebird and goldfinches.

3. Hummel figurines and Nativity pieces. The pieces were gifts to me from a great friend from college. None are from my DMil, but she loved Hummels and I also think of her when I see them.

Glass and ceramics

This one is hard for me so some of these are things from the past:

1. My granny's dark green glass pedestal candy dish. And yes. It had the hard Christmas candy assortment😃

2. Ceramic lighted Christmas tree. Yall know the one. My grannies and mom had one. Actually, she still does.

3. Glass sand jar. When DH and I got remarried, part of the ceremony was him, DD, and ne pouring sand together to represent unity.

My huge mirror in my front room

All my Disney figurines & Snow Globes - Hummel / Radko / Precious Moments etc

All the fancy glass bowls & Vases & bottles I’ve collected over the years at estate sales - they are all so pretty - I love displaying them

Edit to add - All my African Art pieces purchased at AKL back when they sold Penzo ❤️❤️
