Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Three vehicles- We were two for many years, but that third has been a real blessing with our girls driving.

I can relate to this. The brand new 1996 Honda Accord that we bought for my wife has been handed down to my DD24, DD21 and DS18 as their first car. It has seen a few fender benders with all 3 kids but it keeps cruising along.

Now that all 3 have their own cars we are donating it to charity on 1/16. Godspeed our trusty Honda

#1 - Another vote for 3 strikes - unless it’s my kid that gets that third K - LOL! Good thing that most my DD20’s best hits, or HRs, happen on a full count

I'm grateful for fun with DS and his friends when they were little - building snowmen, taking them sledding, etc.

I'm grateful for cocoa and a good book on snowy days.

I'm grateful that we have a friend with a plow, for when it gets reeeeeally deep.

I am grateful it doesn't snow here in LA. Cold enough here for me now. Snow is lovely to look at in a Hallmark movie or be cozy reading about a warm indoor scene in a book especially at Christmas.

1. We used to do a cabin trip with my sisters and their husbands and kids. Lots of sledding/fort building and games at night. Good memories.
2. Snow days as a kid—the best!
3. I like how pretty fresh fallen snow looks—makes the world look clean.

I’d be grateful if I never had to deal with it again ! I’d be grateful if I lived somewhere it was too warm to ever receive any or its little friends sleet & freezing rain !
I’m very grateful I work from home most days and don’t have to drive in it but do have to take my crazy dog out in it ( he loves the stuff )
I’m grateful last year my neighbor unbeknownst to me shoveled my driveway so sweet of him !!!

The later we have that first snowstorm, the happier I am.

Son-in-law now lives with us so that takes the shoveling off DH's shoulders (and considering he had rotator cuff surgery this fall, that's a good thing).

I do enjoy sitting in the living room with my blankie, tea, and book and watching a nice winter snow falling outside the window. But that's about it, I don't want to deal with it once it lands!

Good Sunday Morning again

I am not a snow person, but it sure is beautiful sometimes.

#1 - How it makes everything look so beautiful and clean - heres the view from my front driveway this morning. It was so picturesque when I went to the gym this morning.



#2 - How it keeps us inside - there’s something very cozy about being home when it’s snowing outside.

#3 - How snow muffles sound when it’s snowing - the once in awhile that I do shovel, it’s always so peaceful and quiet.

I know there are 5 Bournes, but it's the first 3 I re-watch every year.

The tranquility of falling snow.
The beauty of nature blanketed in snow.
The crunch of snow beneath my feet.
The fun of snowball fights and building snowmen (and women!).

ETA: You've all reminded me of the rush of sledding downhill; the joy of snow days and how lovely it is to cosy up inside while it's snowing outside.

We did have some very adorable snowmen ️ Saturday from our no chance of snow that amounted to 3 1/2 inches - the kids had to do them early as it warmed up and now is gone

1. Grateful that I never had to worry about bundling my girls up for the snow, aside from traveling to snowy destinations for skiing. It made dressing them and car seats so much easier.
2. Grateful that I made it through four insanely snowy years in Syracuse, NY back in the 90’s. I don’t ever want to live in snow like that again, but most of us consider it a badge of honor.
3. While 2021 has made us all fear winter weather and the integrity of our power grid, I’m grateful we never have to shovel snow… because if it snows here, things just shut down because we don’t have the infrastructure for serious snow management. So you stay home…enjoy whatever white stuff we get, and keep your fingers crossed that your power stays on and your pipes don’t freeze.

Toilet Paper - Covid taught us to be so grateful to be able to go to the store and get toilet paper !! Always grateful to be able to purchase toilet paper !!!
Little 4 packs of small bottles of wine - great for one glass of wine or a small bottle if you need some for cooking !!!

And I second the 4 mini bottles of wine - I hate to open a big bottle just to use 1/4 cup for a recipe!

We were in Syracuse from 1986-1992 while DH was getting his doctorate. All I can say about the snow is, I hear ya!

I was there 91-95, so we experienced some of the same Syracuse winters. It's like a lifetime of snow in one winter

Four Seasons- while we don't get as much season definition down here, I love watching those transitions with the weather, colors, smells, flora/fauna, etc.

Four legged creatures- As far as quadrupeds go, our current dog is my favorite, but I love animals and a good number have four legs.

Four corners states- some of our favorite states to visit make up the four corners (CO, AZ, UT, NM).
