Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Today's Topic (Sat, 12/30) - 3 places or events you're grateful to have gone to this year

In April we flew out to Ann Arbor, Michigan to spend the weekend with very special friends and help celebrate a 40th birthday. It was a great trip and the first flights we have taken since Covid appeared in 2020.

In September I retired after 30 years of state service and attended a retirement party for me!

In October we cruised to Bermuda and it was a special vacation with great friends (also a continuation of my retirement celebration).

As this year comes to an end, I am happy to be reminded to be grateful and reflect on all of the good things in our lives rather than all the negativity that abounds all around us on tv, social media, constant emails, etc. I wish I had discovered this thread earlier in the year!

DH and I spent a week in an ocean-view cottage in York, ME in August. It was challenging as I was still recovering from knee surgery but it was also good to be able to go, to regain some semblance of our "normal" lives.

DD and I went to Disney World in November. It was supposed to be a solo trip but she flew down with me and stayed for a day and a half. It was a whirlwind, but we had a fabulous time!

New Orleans in January, to see my sister and BIL. DH came with me and we met up with my wonderful friend, Angela, and her husband, who'd been on a cruise that docked in NOLA. I met Angela thru the DISboards! They live in Philadelphia, so it really was wonderful to have that overlap in both their vacation and ours!

Thank you so much my very dear friend❤️ :goodvibes
I’m always so grateful that you PM’d me well over a year ago and we have been PMing almost every day since - we’re getting close to 100 pages. You and I have shared a lot of joys, tears, scares, sadness, venting and more together. Cheers to spending another year together

Happy New Year’s Ever Friends 🍾🥂🎊

I gotta do a quick catch up on Saturday’s topic….

#1 - Place - Going to CoCo Beach area, Florida to watch DD20 play with her college team.

#2 - Place - The WDW girls trip with DD20

#3 - Event - DD20 making All Conference as a freshman and finishing her freshman season with the most home runs and RBI’s on the team. Also, being at the games that she made Player of the Day after having an incredible triple header.

Today’s topic…..

#1 - DH - I’m so grateful to be going through this life with him. We’ve been married for 29 years and together for 36 years - and have known each other for 42 years - we’ve literally grown up together.

#2 - DD20 - I’m so grateful to have her as my best friend. There is nobody that I laugh more with.

#3 - My boss/friend - I’ve been with him for 11 1/2 years now and we have a great time at work. He has also been wonderful to my entire family, but especially my DD20. He has treated her (he’s a chiropractor for those that don’t know) for everything and never charges for anything. Since he has an X-ray machine he X-rays here whenever he feels she needs xraying (after almost 14 years of softball she’s had a lot of injuries). Now that she’s away, she calls and texts him for advice when she has pain. And now he helps her study for different classes (she’s going for Occupational Therapy, so he helps her with anatomy and other classes like that) - over Thanksgiving break he sat with her for over 2 hours and she’ll FaceTime me when I’m at work so she can talk with him while she’s studying or right before a test. I can never thank him enough for being such an incredible person to her.

Hugs, MaryBlanchard, I would have loved accompanying you to see A Charlie Brown Christmas! How fun. One Christmas Eve a pastor friend began her sermon mentioning that very movie. I had given her a stuffed animal Linus (I knew she loved the movie) that year. You might have enjoyed that :) Truly thankful you got to do all those things and of course, everyone else who shared was able to experience what they did :)
Awww that was so sweet of you to gift her that! I'm sure she must've been so happy! :) Thanks for sharing that story 💕

Aw thank you dear Mary! My heartfelt thanks to all of you within this loving and kind thread. Each of you has sure made a difference to me for which I am so grateful. What a blessing it is to me that God connected me to each of you❤️

Jesus first, foremost, always and forever!

Today's Topic (Sun, 12/31) - 3 people you were grateful for this year
Tom
My DSis Nancy
This year, I have to say it’s been a very good for all my Disboards friends, the ones I have only known on line and the ones I have met in person. I will give a special mention to @flyingdumbo127 because I did have the chance to meet her at a safe distance, but my knowledge of CA’s geography was faulty, and I was much closer to her than I thought. I am so happy that you are steadily feeling better!

January
Hmmmmm…….
Well the glitter deco holidays are over so I can try to get all the glitter vacuumed up and not see any again until October !

That’s all I got - sadly no holidays for me even thou the calendar list one

It’s cold 🥶 it may snow ❄️ and you all know how much I love that or worse sleet or freezing rain 🌧️ so I’m grateful if it doesn’t do that but it’s COLD so I’m grateful if it’s not so cold my bones don’t care for the cold neither does my arthritis

I’m in accounting so January is a very busy month wrapping up year end and starting new year but mostly wrapping up year end ! so being so busy does make the month go by fast grateful for that! That much closer to the warmer months!

January is new beginnings so i’m grateful for that !!! New beginnings in a warm environment would be nice but at least I don’t have any snow ❄️ right now !!! I’m very grateful for that !!

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Happy New Year with love to each of you. This wasn't my favorite image but I love the message. JOY to each of you in all always. For me, because God is in all and is Joy there is indeed a rainbow of hope and love in everything no matter what.

January

By God's Grace, a truly new year, new beginning, call to life and privilege I have to I pray serve Him kindly. Grow in faith, walk with and to Him. By His extended Mercy that I also am so humbly blessed to walk through each day especially this day with my dad as we both are guided by Him.

God willing by the end of this month, I will be completely healed and healthy--happier feet and legs.

This January I am blessed to also be able to compile my dad's birthday postcard albums! I will share in early February how that goes. Thank you all again for your kindness in helping make this possible.

💕Bobbi what a sweet message. God willing you will be back out here again and meeting will mean even more!

I'm grateful for the space of January - I love my Christmas decorations, but I tend to get overwhelmed by all the clutter / visual stimulation. Clear surfaces in January are refreshing.

I'm grateful for the hope and promise people feel when making resolutions and plans for the new year.

I love being out in nature, even in the winter, and I'm grateful to the organizers of First Day Hikes - a great way to start the new year! I went to one earlier today at Blue Hills:
