Three Things...Gratitude Thread

1. I get to work "remote" on Thursdays (We all know what that really means, but I'm not supposed to actually say it. lol)
2. Awana at church on Thursday evenings! I LOVE working one-on-one with the boy I work with. Even if I do get hit with the dodge ball three times, because my kid wants me to play the games with him. XD And tonight in particular, I was so proud of him. He looked up all his Bible verses almost completely on his own, answered all the questions with minimal help, AND did his new and review verse without looking in between.
3. It's almost Friday.

My friend & neighbor M~~~, who texted me a Happy Friday gif for no special reason this morning, and it put me in a good mood. 😃

My new friend D~~~, who I will see later tonight because we are working on a Christmas project for a charity event. 🎄

All of my neighbors who have dogs, because I love seeing them out on their walks - chatting with the people and petting the dogs who want attention. 🐾

I was away yesterday, but glad to catch up on here today.

I'm grateful for

My old friend who made me so welcome in her home and who has the best dog!

My neighbour who is so friendly and chatty and who is the most considerate dog-owner.

A family friend from childhood, who has always been like a godmother to me. Her husband was a special soul, too and they had the other best dog!

There's a theme to mine today! :D:dogdance:

Neighbors:

1. In general I love my neighbors and neighborhood. We lived here since 2001 and many of us raised our kids together. Collectively they are my village.

2. My across the street neighbor—she is the best person I know. Good hearted, positive, kind—I really can’t say enough good things about her. Her oldest daughters were close in age to my oldest daughters and they were great friends growing up. The middle two still are. My youngest babysits her youngest. The people you call on Christmas Day when the turkey went in the oven and you realize the meat thermometer isn’t working. Or your car won’t start and somebody needs to be somewhere. Or you’re later than expected getting home and the dog needs to be taken outside.

3. My former neighbor. They moved. I miss her. We get together for lunch every few months just the two of us and I look forward to those times to catch up. We also go out to dinner as couples with our husbands a few times a year. She’s a tell like it is person and while we don’t always agree, her perspective is refreshing. They moved going on 10 years ago and I am grateful they are still in our lives.

:grouphug: I’m just completely grateful for all my friends!! I have many and they’re each very different and precious in their own ways, including a couple here on the DIS! I can’t even think right now of any specific thing any certain one has done, but the instances have been countless as we travel through this crazy life together.

I commented up-thread that loneliness is a tragedy and I’m always mindful of the IMMENSE BLESSING of community and try to be the person who reaches out and initiates. I’ll be particularly keeping my eyes open today for someone in need, thanks to this thread. :goodvibes One person in particular has already come to mind so I’ll definitely be reaching out.

I’m grateful for the neighbors I had growing up - I had a very dysfunctional family and could escape to my neighbors they were often and frequently a God send to me! I have very fond memories of several ❤️🙏

I’m very grateful of a friend I’ve made here on the DIS - I believe God put us together at a time when we needed each other - I believe I need her more than she needs me - she always listens to me and offers her help - I can’t say how much I value and appreciate it

I’m going thru an extremely difficult time in my life right now - I was given the gift of finding out who my true friends really are - a person who I thought was a friend for almost 40 years I found out was not - BUT I can’t tell you how grateful I am for the ones I know who are ! Most of my friends are out of state but I have one in state and no matter what she’s been there for me regardless of time and she’s there no matter how long it takes ! I can’t thank her or God enough for what she’s done for me !!! Truly Blessed !! 🙏🙏❤️

Bonus - I’ve often had horrible neighbors - I mean horrible ! I moved a few years ago and I have the most wonderful neighbors ever ! Kind Caring chatty such a refreshing change !! Very friendly nice people !! Very Blessed!!!

Friends or Neighbors

1. My ex sister in law who is still my sister, and always will be
2. the neighbors I used to have in MA--all of them were friendly and helpful
3. The young couple we have as neighbors on one side of us. They are always willing to help me with a problem or whenever we need anything. We traded veggies with them all summer. And they have 2 adorable boys who call me Miss Lynn, and run over to hug me whenever they see me

@WDWEPCOT --we have a horrible neighbor like that on one side of us. I couldn't go into the many ways they have been awful over the last 20 years. We found out that a tall fence is the best 'bad neighbor' deterrent

Friends or neighbors:

The neighbor that came after I interrupted her in her housecoat to witness for my will with the notary. It was a signature spot missed by the original second witness.

The same day another neighbor brought me all my groceries Instacart had delivered to her house in error.

All the friends I've made on the DIS. :)

1.2.Two neighbors who became good friends. One in 1970 in Hamilton NJ and the other in 1993 in Dayton OH.

3. How often is a kindergarten friend still around to help and support and be your friend 68 years later!? Shout out to Beverly!!!

4. A friend who is creative and shares! The shirt I wear to share my holiday spirit came from Cheryl 35 years ago!!!

My neighbor who works for the police department and makes sure that our homes are being monitored especially when we are out of town.

My school BFF who is on leave in order to take care of her seriously ill father. I miss her so much.

My childhood Beach BFF who I will hopefully see for the first time in 40 years this summer.

TGIF!
DIS FRIENDS!

:banana::banana::banana:
I am incredibly blessed with good friends and neighbors.

I’m very grateful for my best girlfriend of 49 years - since we were 2 years old. We are incredibly different people, we’ve had our ups and our downs, but we’re like sisters and overlook these things. We’re there for each other and she’s someone I always knew I could count on to take care of my girls if something happened to us. She would treat them as her own, which was and still is always comforting to me.

I’m very grateful for my two neighbors of 18 years, they are our friends and like family. Since I have no nieces and nephews, I have adopted all their girls, that I’ve known since birth, as my nieces. We all look after each other’s houses and we all know that our houses are safe havens to each other’s kids and our kids know that they are always welcome at any of our homes anytime.

My softball friends - outstanding people! We all cheer for each other’s kids, we support each other’s kids and again, these are people I would trust with my DD’s life. My one friend, who owns the program my DD19 played for for 7 years was and still is her biggest supporter - he was a huge part of getting DD recruited to play for the college she’s at today - I can never thank him enough for believing in her since she was 10 years old - he knew what she was capable of and he pushed her to play at a higher level, gave her the knowledge to really know the game and promoted her to get her where she is now. I will be forever grateful and forever love this man.

Today's Topic (Fri. 11/18) - Friends or Neighbors

I believe with all my heart God places people within our lives exactly when we most need to meet one another. What an extraordinary extra gift of His grace.

1 Not so much a neighbor but I am continuously so grateful for community workers who dad sees weekly that truly look out for him and also are so kind to ask how I am doing. Extra hug to a special Ralph's worker,

2 As Thanksgiving draws near, I am extra thankful to God for connecting me with my good friend Terri who I may get to see later today. She has not only blessed my dad and I with her support and friendship but all she does to serve God. Plus, through her kindness, she has helped me during this ongoing pandemic (I do stay home due to Covid) to (I pray) be able to much more anonymously, (my preferred way to serve, all for Him and His Glory) spread a dash of extra faith and cheer out there, too. She often does make donations to a local shelter or Discovery Shop.

3 So many on here especially my Quacker family along with those of you in this very thread and the Christmas movie thread as well. Thank you for the care, friendship, faith and good cheer you each encourage and spread1 God Bless You!

My neighbor let me pet his dog today, I really miss having one so this was a treat!
My neighbors made me feel safe when I was alone a lot raising my kids while DH traveled for work.
Female mom friends helped a lot when raising the kids, it's how I knew mine were normal, thank goodness for them!

1.I am thankful for the realistic sports mom friends I have made over the years my youngest has been playing. The ones who come to the games in their hoodies and/or sweats knowing that I will be a hot mess right next to them cheering our kids on
2. My circle has always been small and I am thankful for those in it-they are truly my extended family
3.My soccer friends-there is a connection there that I don't have with some of my other friends(but plenty of them overlap into other friend "groups)

Today's Topic (Wed. 11/16) - 3 Things in Nature You're Grateful For
1. waterfalls. big or small, they are all pretty.
2. The amount of color there is. From green leaves going orange and red, to the blue birds, or purple flowers, or pink skies....
3. the different landscapes. there is something beautiful and terrifying about a desert; soothing about a mountain in spring; a rush of adrenline being near a cliff with waves crashing below....
Today's Category (Thurs. 11/7) - 3 Things You're Grateful for about Thursdays
1. It's my usual Hello Fresh day. Meals already planned; One less thing to think about during the weekend.
2. It's pretty much as far from Monday as you can get in both directions.
3. It's named after a hot guy from Avengers (IDK, I ran out of things to be grateful for about that day!)
Today's Topic (Fri. 11/18) - Friends or Neighbors

(Inspired by a text this morning)
1. My neighbors. They stay out of our business, and we stay out of theirs. Just the way I prefer it.
2. My BFF, aka, my DH. He's been my BFF since we met back in 1991.
3. My friends from high school that I am in touch with via FB. It's fun to remember some of those times.

❄️🥶A cold Saturday topic for a really cold Saturday morning by me🥶❄️

Not including things like air conditioning, the refrigerator & freezer and stuff like that…

I’m grateful for an ice cold gas station slushie made exactly as I like them (cherry, coke, cherry, coke, cherry - I love the layers - LOL!) on a really hot day - so good! :goodvibes

I’m grateful for a really cold weekend when I/we have no where to go except Mass. It’s wonderful to be hunkered down at home with the family - makes for a great family weekend - watch some movies, play some games - love it!❤️

I’m grateful for ice cream at the local family owned ice cream shop that’s open Memorial Day - Labor Day. We love getting in the car, as a family, and going there to get an ice cream cone or a frozen yogurt and sit in the car to eat it with the windows down, listening to the sounds of summer - great memories! We’ve had a lot of fun family conversations while eating that ice cream.🍦❤️
