Three Things...Gratitude Thread

I will catch up later from the hospital, but if anyone has any extra good thoughts, pixie dust, or prayers, can you send them for my husband? He is having shoulder surgery this afternoon and we don't know if it'll be a more simple procedure or a full replacement. The last time he had joint surgery (on his knee) it got grossly infected after three weeks. He spent 2 weeks in the hospital and 6 weeks in a nursing home on IV antibiotics. He is OK now, although his functional abilities are different, but those long 8 weeks were anxiety-ridden; there was the possibility that he could lose his leg, or his life. I know... small chance of it happening then, even smaller chance now, but it's still been a pretty restless night here. SO... if anyone has any extra support to send towards Maine, think of DH today, please.
Prayers for your husband

I’m very grateful to the wonderful lady I babysat for when I was a teenager- without me saying so she comprehending that I was in a dysfunctional household even though she was going through a horrible divorce at the time she spent all of her time getting me out of my house and doing things with me she acted like she needed me more than I needed her so that I wouldn’t have to be home I have many fond memories of all the things we did❤️❤️❤️
My elderly neighbor doing little things for me without me asking he’s so sweet
And if he can’t do it he’ll get his son to do it but again he does this without me asking if he sees a tree that needs to be pruned or chopped down he just does it- he’s like oh I was going to one of my yard I’ll just grab this one too but he’s not doing one in his yard he’s just doing mine and if I try and thank him - he’s like no just being neighborly!
Friends that are always there for you this is a true gift from God there’s no price you can put on this ! To be blessed to have a friend who’s there through thick and thin no matter what it’s a true blessing and do you have someone you can share things with and they don’t judge you and they help you and they’re there for you is a gift from God
I hope you never have to find out that you have one of those friends I hope you do have one of those friends but I hope you’re never in a situation where you have to find out if you have those runs I know this doesn’t sound right but unfortunately it’s usually some really horrible situation that makes you find out who your true friends are That’s why I wish you never to be in that situation sadly I have been and I do know who my true friends are and I cherish them very much and I’m so very grateful for them!
A very happy national friends day to all my peeps! ❤️❤️❤️

National Be Nice Day (Such a sweet picture, btw) :flower3::flower3::flower3:

The lovely neighbor who came over 'specially to give me a birthday card. xx

The receptionists at the clinic I drove my mum to recently. xx

A couple of different store assistants who have been particularly friendly and helpful over the last week. xx

(Thurs, 10/5) - 3 nice things people did for you that you were grateful for:

1. I'm grateful for the medical people my mom has dealt with - all so giving and kind

2. I'm grateful for my boss - he is very kind to all employees and seems to be able to offer things when employees need it the most

3. I'm grateful for my mom - she is just a kind and giving person - always doing nice things for people

My husband for always bringing me some sort of food/drink I like when I'm having a hard time

The hospital staff I spent a lot of time with during my Dad's last days...they were so kind to my mother and the rest of us

My childhood friend's family that included me as if I was a member of their family right from the start-her dad is the reason I still play soccer today

Buildings:
1. Cathedral of Learning on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. It’s tall and beautiful and has the Nationality Rooms. I was a tour guide there in college. The rooms are incredible.
2. Acrisure Stadium: many happy memories
3. Work building: perfect size and location for what we do

F Things:
1. Fish—one of my favorite things to eat.
2. Freezer—helps with meal planning and prepping
3. Fall—my favorite season

People behind the Scenes:
1. Amazon delivery—such a huge time saver
2. Target drive up employees—saves me time and money because if I went into the store I’d spend twice as much.
3. Fed Ex/USPS—I ship a lot of things in my job and I’ve never had anything lost (more than a day or 2 around Christmas) and rarely is anything damaged.

Kindness:
1. Bank teller yesterday who was patient in explaining the procedure to get large amounts of cash in small denominations for an event.
2. New dog groomer yesterday who was very patient with my dog.
3. A classmate/teammate of my daughter who has been helping her with catching up on some schoolwork—my daughter has been sick and missed a bunch of school over 2 weeks. This girl actually sent videos of herself demonstrating how to complete a few physics problems. Way above and beyond.

💕Many prayers dear Leebee to you and your husband!

Grateful for the blessing of waking up each day period. Truly a gift from God. That I might get to witness and serve with kind joy.

Dad!

All of you :)

Kind neighbor last night who took the care and time to come by with a couple slippers for me to try on.

Thursday hugs with love to all!

I'm going to answer right away because I keep forgetting to come back and post lately:

1) The kids' music group I took DS to when he was little. It had so many benefits for us - from developmental stuff to making friends to giving our at-home schedule some structure.

2) Schoolhouse Rock! - both how much it taught me as a kid and how I used it with DS (multiplication practice in the car) and while watching my friends' twins (who loved the history ones).

3) The children's music artist I follow on Instagram. I don't have little kids in the house right now, but it's fun to remember the old songs, plus she has a calming voice and reminds me to slow down even on social media.

TGIF Everyone!

#1 - I’m grateful for our children’s choir at church - I love listening to their sweet young little voices - so cute!

#2 - I’m grateful for my memories of when DD25 used to sing - she has an amazing voice, that is sadly now being wasted by doing nothing with it. In 8th grade she was the youngest cantor at our church ever and everyone loved it when she led the Mass in song. She sung the Star Spangled banner for a few venues - one being a minor league baseball team. She was in musicals in HS and took voice lessons which led to recitals and shows. She sang Let it Go at one of these shows to get a standing ovation. She has an incredible gift, but sadly it’s no longer being used - such a shame. I’m glad I have my memories.

#3 - I’m grateful for all the middle school & high school choir concerts we went to when DD25 was in them - they were always very well done and enjoyable. I especially loved the Christmas concerts.

1. Our school is honored for their music program every year. My children are not musically gifted, but they all had the chance to play an instrument starting in elementary school and find out if that was their “thing”. It wasn’t for any of them, but they were exposed to it, learned the basics of reading music and got to participate in a few concerts and shows.
2. Last night one of the girls from a special singing group at our high school performed the National Anthem as a soloist before the Pink Out volleyball game. She was amazing. I was grateful she took time out of her evening to come and sing that for us.
3. I enjoy the musicals our school puts on every year. There’s one at the middle school and one at the high school and I’ve been to many over the years and they are always fantastic. I am always shocked at how professional they seem.

Ok I got nothing on this one - didn’t do music in school because we weren’t allowed any extracurricular activities band or choir
Neither of my kids did it either not that they were not allowed they were they just didn’t do it
I have no experience and seeing or hearing children singing or children in bands with the exception of watching them on TV every Thanksgiving which I do enjoy that so I am grateful for that!

Children's voices lifted in praise especially at a Christmas worship service fill me with such joy. One year the children's choir sang, a new to me song I'll Give Him My Heart. Beautiful.

Children singing at play is also a joyful noise.

Children and Youth Summer Camp musical performance as they lead a Sunday worship service is a blessing I look forward to each year virtually from a friend's church.

My best kids music memories came from my oldest son‘s Matthew’s nursery school. It began “If I were..”. It was religious, and we sang it a lot.

Then I volunteered at Sunday nursery school. I sang it with my class a lot, and it was a favorite!

I found a more current version….absolutely my best Child Music Memory .

“I’m a little tea pot” also brings me back wonderful memories.

Thanks for posting that clip! I helped our 3 & 4 year old SS teacher for a number of years and we did this song too! Such a fun song!

1. My 3 kids went to a music camp one summer at a church in the town next to ours. It was held Mon-Fri during the day and my mom took them to it while I was working. At the end, they put in a show and it was so fun. DS, who was 5 at the time, was chosen for a little solo and he was so proud. It was usually his older sisters who got picked for things so he loved that he got to do something too!!

2. All of the fun music that Miss Shari and I did over the years with the young Sunday School class!

3. When I was in middle school (we called it Jr High at the time lol), we learned a song, 50 Nifty United States. I still can easily name all 50 states (in alphabetical order even) just because of that song!

I also wanted to post a little story about our topic from yesterday - nice things people have done for us.

This morning, I came into work and my boss (who I mentioned yesterday) gave me something he had gotten at a baseball stadium giveaway over the weekend.

To give a little backstory: I live in the St Louis area and DH and I (our whole family really) are big Cardinals fans. When my boss came to our company a few years ago, it's one of the things that we talk about a lot. In addition to the Cardinals, Adam Wainwright is my favorite player ever - I just love him - for his baseball ability and more so, just the fact that he is a spectacular person all the way around. I could go on and on about him (but I'll spare everyone lol).

This past weekend was Wainwright's final weekend on the team as he was retiring at the end of this year. The team was doing a lot of special things for him during his last weekend. I was out of town at a family wedding or I would have been at the games to be involved in the happenings.

Well, my boss was at his final game and the giveaway was a little guitar. This morning, he brought it in a gave it to me!! He had it sitting on a bookcase in his office yesterday and when I glanced over at it, I told him how neat it was. Today, he came in with it boxed up and gave it to me. He said that he didn't really need it and knew I would enjoy it much more than he would.

It is honestly one of the nicest, unexpected things anyone has ever done for me!

Sorry for the long story, but I just wanted to share!
