Three Generations of Adults do Disney! Our first DVC trip! Updated 9/12/08! -Page5

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone!

I feel like the call back went well. Now I just have to wait. (That is the HARDEST part!)

They said they'd be making decisions at the beginning of the week. I'll let you all know. (And get a new update up tomorrow!) Thanks again!

Hey Jen! Sorry I've been MIA... we opened Joseph last week and I'm trying to get ready for the new school year.. I go back on AUGUST 7:scared1:

I'll be back to make comments and hopefully catch your new update!

Glad to hear your call backs went well. Let us know if you hear anything!

Day 2, Part 3 - We're off to Pleasure Island!

So, I have to say that I haven't visited Pleasure Island much. Brian and I went on our honeymoon in 2001 back when you had to be over 21 just to get on the island. (That was nice....) At the time, I remember we spent alot of time in the Jazz club.

When we went two years ago, we were confused that the island was open for all (remember, I hadn't found the DisBoards yet!) At that point we deemed it kinda lame, and moved along.

Well for this trip, I came all smartened up! My goal was to get to the Adventurer's Club if nothing else.

But when we walked over there, well, it wasn't open yet. I ran into another Disser who had apparently set up a meet (not having access to a computer on vacation, I was unawares.) Now, I apologize immensely, but for the life of me I cannot remember his name (nor the other dissers I met later that night, but I remember the later night forgetting on the booze!)

Anyway, after a brief chat, we decided to walk around a little while until the clubs opened up. After not a long time, my parents and grandmother decided to call it a night. But Brian and I decided to keep going strong!

We got in line at the Comedy Warehouse and saw a show there - very funny! I got another drink, and before long the show was over and we headed over to the Adventurer's Club.

This was my first experience here, so I didn't really know what to expect. Well, we were there the rest of the evening - about another two and a half hours. I was so excited to try the Kungaloosh, but they were actually out of them! So I settled for another fruity girly drink concoction!

You'll notice that there really aren't any pictures yet of our Pleasure Island outing. Well, after three (or four?) mixed drinks, Jen doesn't think too clearly.....:dance3:

We did meet two other Dissers there - a very nice couple who were staying at BCV with a trade from II. (They actually owned at Atlantis - NICE!) They were looking to buy into DVC since they come to Disney so often. We had a nice chat with them.

Anyway, we had had a long day and decided to call it a night, so we made our way out to the Marketplace to take a nice leisurely stroll before heading to the buses. I got to share my (now empty) drink with the skeleton pirate outside the big Disney store:

We got back to BCV closer to midnight.

Next up - EMH at MK!!!!

Day 3, Part 1 - Magic Kingdom

Well folks, after a long day and late night at DTD, morning came a little too soon!

Today was our day to meet up with relatives at MK! Joining us today would be my mom's cousin, his wife, and their three year old daughter.

They live in the Orlando area, but don't have a car, so they were going to be taking the bus to the park.

My grandmother realized at this point that she'd be better off with a scooter instead of trying to do another day of walking. Plus, my mom's cousin has a very bad ankle to do an old injury, so we wanted to get to MK early not only do take advantage of EMH, but to get two scooters rented before they were all gone.

We actually did really well and got to MK at 7:15am. We were REALLY close to the front for rope drop:
IMG_1091.jpg

After they dropped the rope, Brian ran ahead a bit to get a picture of Main Street with hardly any people on it:
IMG_1092-1.jpg

We had enough time to run over to Space Mountain and ride it with hardly any wait. My grandmother also sat this one out (along with my dad.) My mom decided she would brave it, though!

After that, we checked out the Monsters Inc. Comedy thingy. It was very cute. I like how the animation on the screen was able to interact with the audience.

By this time, we had to start heading back to the park entrance to look for our relatives.

In that relatively short amount of time, this is how the crowds looked on Main Street::scared1:

After much confusion, we finally found our relatives and began a very crazy day. Their daughter was very cranky (as three year olds can get.) But every time someone tried to talk to her, she would try to hit them. Made for a fun morning.

We headed to Fantasy Land, which surprisingly was not very busy. Alisha (the 3 year old) got to ride Dumbo, then several of us went on Winnie the Pooh, then the Carousel, then Snow White. Then It's a Small World. (oh yes, we did it....) Followed by Peter Pan. I did all of the rides except for Dumbo, but Brian and my dad were feeling a little antsy in Fantasy Land, so they headed out to look around and take pictures. Here's a few fun random MK shots:

When we met up with Brian and my dad, they told us that the line for Haunted Mansion was almost non-existent. This is one of my fave rides at MK. We decided to head over. Brian, my parents, my mom's cousin and I all got in line. (The other two stayed behind with Alisha.)

Now I had already announced that I was going ride this one with Daddy. Why? Well, on our very first trip in '84, I rode this ride for the first time with Daddy. My little 8 year old self was SO SCARED by the hitchhiking ghost at the end of the ride, that I left nail marks in my dad's arm from grabbing onto him so hard. So I wanted to ride with him for old time's sake. :goodvibes

After that, it was just across to Columbia Harbour House, where we had a lovely short wait and got a great quiet table upstairs. (Thanks Disboards!)

This is when we had to plan the rest of our day, since the relatives actually had to be back at their bus by 6pm. (And I had made ADR's for all of us at Cape May Cafe that night for 5:30pm)

We decided we'd check out some more attractions and leave by 3pm.

We were then off to Adventureland for some Pirates!!!

Ya gotta do IASW. It's a requirement!

:hyper: Can't wait for more!

More updates coming very soon! I want to make sure I get another one in before I leave for the UK on Thursday!

Also - I just ordered my PhotoPass CD!

You guys got a lot accomplished! Your Grandma sounds like a firecracker keeping up with all of you!

Sorry about the toddler attitude. It does really suck when they are in a bad mood!

Have fun in the UK! I'm jealous!

Thanks! Yeah, my grandmother is very young for her age!

Toddlers will be toddlers. One of my nieces is three, so I have been witness to many an episode. But my niece is, well, how do I put it politely, much better behaved than our relative's little one. (Alisha didn't seem to get much discipline at all. But NOT my place to get involved!)

I will have lots of fun in the UK, but will be busting my butt on the show. I'll only be there less than four days, and it's mostly all in rehearsal and performance. I do think we get one free evening to relax...

My job right now is staying rested and healthy!

Thanks to all for reading!!

So, you didn't tell us - did you leave nail marks in your dad's arm again? :cutie:

So, you didn't tell us - did you leave nail marks in your dad's arm again?

 No, not this time! Although we all had a good laugh at who got which hitch hiking ghosts!

Hi everyone! I just returned yesterday from a whirlwind long weekend in jolly old England! Our performance went great and I am truly exhausted! (I got so little sleep this weekend that I think I broke a personal record!)

I really did want to get an update in before I left, but I was just so busy getting ready to leave the country that it just never came to fruition.

So as I get over my jet lag, the post show blues, and such, I will post my next update!

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend!

I foooooound your report!!!! :goodvibes

And now I'm hooked, so how's about an update? :flower3:

PS I actually found it on Monday at work, but didn't comment as I hate to sign in while at work. Then I remembered to post! It's ok it's only been a week!

HI Amanda!

I'm so glad you found my report! :yay:

Yes, I will get an update up this week - promise!

...

I know, I should talk.. it's time for me to update mine, too!!

Hi folks!

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for being patient with me. It's a crazy time of year.

On the home front - I didn't get into My Fair Lady. :sad1: At least, one has to assume so, since you don't get a call if you don't get in. After I got back from England, I called the theatre to see if they were still casting, and they told me they weren't done yet. But that was almost two weeks ago. Oh well. I'll be singing the lead in a small concert production of an operetta and doing two renaissance concerts instead.

I figured while I got the next update together I'd post some of the pics from our Photopass CD! I'll include the ones from the days I've covered so far.

Here they are! (And yeah, a lot of them have the added graphics - I couldn't resist!)

Myself, my grandmother, and my mom with the Tree of Life behind us:

Here are Brian and I in the morning at MK on our special "family day." This is when we got away from everyone for a few minutes first thing in the morning:

So sorry to hear about My Fair Lady... THEIR LOSS!!!

Love the Photo Pass stuff! And I'm a sucker for icons too!

Okay, so last time we were heading over to Adventure Land to visit a few Pirates.

The line was really not that long. And I always like going through the tunnels and passage ways while waiting. Perhaps it's because I liked it so much as a kid and that never goes away? Whatever the reason, I love this ride. PLUS, this would be our first time on since our honeymoon, since it was closed two years ago on our trip for the updates.

This day ended up being hot. REALLY hot. Daddy, Brian, and I decided to (just out of curiosity) check the line time for Splash Mountain while everyone else waited for Alisha to ride the Aladdin carpet ride.

When we got over to Splash Mountain the wait actually said ten minutes for standby!!! I was ready to say, let's go! We'll just have to keep the others waiting for a few minutes!

Well, in the blink of an eye, the time suddenly changed to being 55 minutes. What! So no Splash Mountain for us. We jumped into the gift shop to enjoy a moment of air conditioning, and Brian decided to buy some Disney crocs flip flops.

We headed back to Adventureland, met up with the fam. Tried to get on the Jungle Cruise since the stand by line said 15 minutes. But it pulled a Splash Mountain and jumped up to 65 minutes. Hell no! Not waiting that long for Jungle Cruise.

We decided to head back to Main Street for some shopping and call it a (partial) day.

Here's the whole crew after leaving MK.

image25.jpg

We headed back to the hotel for a quick swim. Luckily dinner was only a short walk away, since we were eating at Cape May Cafe. I got what would become my favorite drink of the trip. The raspberry mojito!
IMG_1577.jpg

(This particular photo of my beloved drink is actually from later in the trip when I finally remembered to take a picture of the darn thing. Just in case anyone was thrown off by the surroundings around the mojito!)

This was a really great buffet. And I think my grandmother's favorite. The food was excellent, good service, nice atmosphere. I would definitely return.:thumbsup2

After dinner, my grandmother decided to just relax in the hotel room while the rest of us headed back to Epcot to try to see Illuminations without the rain. (And of course Daddy was already asking about Soarin'!)

IMG_1142.jpg

We decided to first ride Spaceship Earth. I hadn't been on this since the rehab, AND we had NO wait. Literally just walked on.
I thought the ending was kinda cute. Glad I was expecting to get my picture taken, so I was ready with a cute smile.

Here's a pretty shot of the fountain in the middle of Future World:
IMG_1150.jpg

Soon, it was time to stake out a prime watching spot for Illuminations. We got a great spot right at the connecting area of Future World and World Showcase:
IMG_1153.jpg

Our plan was to watch most of Illuminations, but leave before the finale to RUN over to Soarin' and beat the crowds as best as possible.

Here's some more Illuminations shots. (Lord, I hope I'm not reposting any of the other ones!)

IMG_1168.jpg

Sure enough, we RAN over to Soarin' as the finale was going on. We only had to wait about 20 minutes. Not bad for the stand by line! (It was WAY longer when we got out!)

So we ended Day 3. We made our way back to BCV for some much needed rest.

(And it was SO NICE to be able to walk back to the hotel so easily from Epcot!):cloud9:
