Three contracts for home resort advantage

The real issue is that you may end up stranding/losing a few points. It's very hard to get a contract that is exactly 1/3 of what you need, especially if you don''t travel within the same season every time or the point charts change (reallocation). For some, losing a few points every year would be very stressful.

Try planning a few "every -3-years" trips before you buy. Every other year is much easier to do.

I actually think every 3 years is possible but you risk losing/stranding points, and it would take 3 years to implement:
Assuming you own all 3 already:

Resort A: 100 points
Resort B: 100 points
Resort C: 100 points

Year 1: Use 100A, Use 200B (100 + borrow 100), Bank 100C
Year 2: Bank 100A, B has 0, use 300 C (last year's banked, current + borrow)
Year 3: Use 300A (bank, current, borrow), bank 100B, C now has 0
Year 4: A has 0, Use 300 B, bank 100C
Year 5: Bank 100A, B has 0, use 300 C

So it's doable, but you'd have to stagger the banking and borrowing resort, and there is no room for error.*

It is much harder to use all the points with an exact banking and borrowing strategy, and if there's a borrowing restriction, or your trip needs change, etc, you are really stuck.

We hadn't intended to do it this way, but we have 3 home resorts across 2 UY. Riviera and VGF are in the same UY, and we prefer to take a long trip over Xmas where we split VGF at Christmas and Riviera at NYE, preferably in a 1br. We haven't had to borrow yet, because of covid - we only did this in 2019 and 2021, and in 2021 we stayed in a studio at Riviera (*** we may "need" more points***).

Anyway - our other home resort is BLT - those have, more often than not, ended up becoming SAP. We always book a summer or not-high-season trip at BLT, and then decide at 7 mo if we want to stay somewhere else with those points. Half the time we stay at BLT because we love it, the other half the time we try something else. Because of Covid, we have modified trips booked with VGF points too, and we've stayed at BWV, AKV, BCV, and soon AUL, all booked at 7mo.

*even with 3 resorts mostly intended to be used as home resorts, and going more than once a year, I just booked a 2023 trip with VGF points because I wanted to make sure I used banked points first, and to maximize the # of points I could bank for another Christmas trip in 2024 (hopefully)

The harsh reality of addonitis means you'll end up adding on at all three and go more often.

@kboo. I agree with you - it can be done, but IMO, it's only suitable for a very experienced Member. Even then, it will most likely result in lost/stranded points at some times during the course of the membership or split stays.

One time use points can come in handy too in these cases if you are short every few years.

IMHO - KIS. two resorts to lower the stress of point stranding. Let the third be a 7month booking in non peak times.

With three resort on three year rotation; you're leaving little room for flexibility on the banking/borrowing
