I know some people didn't like what I said yesterday and I wasn't presuming anything in any one particular case. As I said, there are a number of medical conditions that require the use of the ECV's, so my apologies to you if you really do have a true medical issue.

All I'm saying is that our country seems to have created a disease/disability for anything and everything. You can see it every day by the number of people whose disability is nothing more than laziness that allows people to get in those things and park in handicapped parking places because they get a tag. People need them because they've been in accidents, had surgeries, etc. etc. I get that and have no issue with that. All I'm saying is that those of you who have been hit with a true disability would never have to deal with "the looks" from people if it weren't for the people like those I described. I know you'd love to do without ECV's, but I believe those with real medical conditions would hold the same opinion of lazy people using them as part of the problem. Does that make any sense?

Are you a doctor who can define a "TRUE" disability?

I closed this thread for 3 reasons:

1) this is restating something that was deleted from another thread. When Moderators close or delete things, they usually have very good reasons for doing so. It is against DIS Board rules to restart a closed thread.

2) this subject comes up frequently and seldom ends well.

3) this subject comes up regularly on other boards. - pretty much whenever the subject of buses, wheelchairs, ECVs, disabilities in general come up.
It's not fair for people who come here to escape those 'discussions' to be subjected to it here.

4) as I have posted before, unless you live in that body, there is no way to tell why that person is using an ECV or wheelchair.
