I've seen the smilie on a few different websites but the one I got it from had it under the "love smilies". I hope I didn't offend anyone by posting it. I just couldn't figure out what it is that they are doing and was hoping one of my fellow TKers might have some idea.

Will pass along the congrats to DS10.

I've seen that smiley around lots of places too. On some sites, I've seen it listed under love too. I've seen it listed under "rude" too. I was just looking to see what smiley's could be doing that is rude. Maybe tongue sticking out or something along those lines. I'll tell you, some of those smiley's opened my eyes. :scared1:

Great, I see my typo will show up forever in your quote. :rotfl2:

OK, I'll try.
1. Go to photobucket
2. Copy IMG Code (Right click on your mouse then left click on copy)
3. Come back to DIS
4. Click on your user CP
5. Click on Edit Signature
6. Put cursor where you want your map
7. Paste (Right click on your mouse then left click on paste)

Let me know if you have any more trouble and I'll try to help you figure it out.
I'm not the best computer person. I am just very competitive and I refuse for a machine to beat me.:lmao:

I haven't tried it yet, but I do use photobucket... Are you getting an error? Or is it just not showing up?

Usually, you just have to view your pic on photobucket and then click in the little box IMG under it which highlights the "code" for your picture. Copy and then paste it into your siggie.

Does that make sense?

ok, I'm gonna try. If you see the map on here, you'll know it worked! If not, well...

Just wanted everyone to know that I've emailed my picture to Shmu for the Flat Tker meet at Disney. I took my own picture (held the camera out in front of me :rotfl: ) and DH showed me how to load it on to the computer. I attached the picture file to an email and off it went. I did it! I did it! I did it, did it, did it! :woohoo:

Thank you everyone for the congrats to DS10!

:thumbsup2

Well, I tried. I can get the map in there, but it won't show in my siggie becuase it's too long. So I'll have to wait until AFTER the Scotland trip, when that ticker is gone and I have room...

Good Morning Everyone!

It is cloudy and muggy here today in NH. We are sure to get a T-storm

this afternoon. I hate it when it is muggy! My floors get so sticky.

I am trying to remember which one of you told me that they purchased a refurbished ipod. I was at the Apple website and looking at the 3rd generation refurbished ipod nanos and was wondering if they look like new and run like new? With money being a little tight lately this may be the way to save a few bucks.

My DS10 and DS7 have been driving me nuts today! They are both Lego freaks. DS10's legos are so much more interesting to DS7 then his own so he has been taking them from DS10's room and misplacing them. Of course we all know what that means. I think I'm ready for one of these

It's threatening thunderstorms here too. Heard some rumbles awhile ago, but now it's sunny again and blue skies.

I was the one who got refurbished iPods. They are exactly like new ones, except the packaging. We've had NO problems. I'd say go for it!

DS takes stuff from everyone and never puts it back, so I'm forever looking for things. If I can't find something, I ask him. Even if he didn't take it, he always seems to know where to find it! Today I told him I'd pay him $10 if he could find my missing earring (my FAVORITE pair, one's been missing for ages). Darned if he didn't find it! One was in my drawer, which I knew, and the other was in my jewelry box. I probably saw one at a time and thought it was the one that wasn't missing! Well, it's worth the $10 to have my earrings back! And he was tickled pink to earn the extra $$.

Now I'm off to Tar-jhay to do camp shopping. Toiletries, sunscreen, bug spray, that kind of stuff. And 2 sweaters for DD. WHY does she need 2 sweaters? This is in addition to 2 sweatshirts. Where does one find sweaters in June? I just found raincoats online and ordered them. I can NEVER find raincoats when I need them.

It is very quiet in here today! I've been checking in here most of the day and nobody. I keep forgetting that two of our TKers are having their meet this weekend so that could be why it's quiet. Can't wait to hear how it goes.

Thanks for letting me know about the ipod. Now I can't wait until my DH gets home so I can show him what I found.

Have fun at Tar-jhay. I wish I had one closer to where I live. The closest one is about an hour away. Happy hunting for the sweaters!

Very fortunate that we did not get any major thunderstorms here in my area, yet. They had a really good one northeast of where I live, about 2 hrs away, that caused a Tornado Warning to be issued. That is not normal for around here. I can't wait until the 6:00p local news comes on so I can see if they have any footage from that area. This past week has been Motorcycle Weekend there, in Laconia, NH, and this was the last day. I hope all those Bikers and venders were able to find shelter.

I know what you mean about the Legos. My sons are always fighting

over them. Plus DS10 can build bigger, fancier stuff so DS6 wants what he has.
My DS10 is going to a Lego camp next week. They build "simple machines" and stuff. He is soooo

excited!

whgrn - glad you figured out why the map wouldn't go in your siggie.

DH watched the Nationwide series yesterday on the internet because it was in MILWAUKEE - just a stone's throw from our house. DS was glad because Carl Edwards won, but he DIDN'T DO HIS BACK-FLIP. Such a bummer.

Hope the TK meets are going well.

Hello everyone. I am pages and pages behind since I have been working. I just wanted to say hello and hope everyone is having a nice weekend. We worked in the yard most of the day and am flopped watching tv now. The backyard got really out of control there for awhile. I am pooped.

I have a question. The tips that everyone is getting at the restaurant are terrible. Does everyone think that it is the economy and people are not tipping like they should or are people just freakin cheap. I am talking about 2 out of 3 people tipping about 5%. This is happening to everyone not just me. There are those few that will tip 15-20%, but not many.

I was just curious what everyone thought.

Kim

Hmmmm...racetrack & M&N are not here, and it's quiet...what does THAT say?!?:lmao:

Had a GREAT shopping day. 3+ hours. I found 2 sweaters at Target on sale. Got almost everything the kids needed for camp, plus some nifty stuff for care packages. At Michaels and ACMoore, I got tons of fake flowers on sale so I can replace the real ones I killed...

No storms yet, but they're coming!

That's TERRIBLE!!!! NO ONE should tip 5% unless the service was awful. My feeling is (and forgive me if I sound like a snob or a witch, but it's JMHO) if you cannot afford to go out to eat and leave a decent tip, pick a cheaper restaurant that you CAN afford! That's just unfair to the servers!

I'd ask around and see if it's happening at other restaurants too, or just yours. If it's everywhere, you can't do much about it. If it's just yours, maybe you can find someplace where they tip better.

I can't imagine leaving 5% unless the service was just plain horrible! My husband always starts every waitperson at 15% and then deducts or adds based on service. We had a really good waitress a few weeks ago and we gave her 20%. She was very friendly and knowledgeable. I agree with whgrn, When you go out to eat the tip should be included as part of the amount that you are going to spend. Eat at a counter service if you can't afford the tip!

Hey all!!!! I'M BAAAACK!!!! What a great day it was today. We got to Hershey for rope drop :rotfl2: and we rode their new coaster and took the little ones on most of the kiddie rides. We got half the kiddie rides done by lunch at 12:30. After lunch, it was time to go meet M&N. I knew what she was wearing so it wasn't too hard to find her. We sat and talked while DH took the little ones around the the kiddie rides.

When we met up with DH again, we hit a couple of rides all together. We ended up sitting and relaxing while DH took all the kids into the water park. They had a blast there. Very family friendly with lots to do for everyone. It was liked enough by everyone that we are thinking of getting season passes for Hershey next year. We ended the day by touring Chocolate World all together. They take a ride photo on there which of course I had to buy. I'll share that pic as long as it's okay with M&N. I have other pics that I'll upload tomorrow and post.

I don't know what we were about with having stuff to talk about. :rotfl2: We had plenty to talk about...racing, disney, teaching, kids. We spent the entire afternoon together and it was great. Heck, by the time we were walking out of the park, my youngest DD was walking and holding her hand. I should have taken a picture but I just wasn't thinking. My family plans on going again this year and hopefully M&N will meet us again.

MagiKitty-I took some pictures of the hills in the park and I'll post those for you. I'm not sure how great they turned out but I tried. I did look around at some of the handicap entrances and most seemed like they would be easy to maneuver. Most of the aisles (?) looked wide. I did get to check out the line for their newest coaster and though you have to climb stairs to reach the trains, there is also an elevator. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the newer rides were like that. If you have any questions, ask away. I'll try to answer.

5% tip!!! :scared1: Are you serious? What is wrong with people? I could never imagine doing that unless the service is really, really terrible. I think in the last year, I have only done that once and that was just recently. Let's just say the restaurant was half full, it took her over 15 minutes just to bring our drinks and when we were ready to leave and asked her for a box for DD leftover chicken fingers, we never saw her again. SIL is a waitress and I'll ask her how things are going with her tips around here. She's also friends with quite a few people who work in other area restaurants and I'll see if she can check with them too.

Hi Everyone,
Well 72 pages wow, I started reading and tried to catch up and then couldn't get back. Well now I have even more to read.
Lot's to do, but wanted to check in hope to be back soon!!!:goodvibes

I think alot of these people are visiting from out of town and are trying to keep within their budget. I work in a very nice restaurant and the buffet it 25.99. The service is always good, so good that I hear the whole life stories of the people at my tables. They like to talk and I am willing to listen. Being friendly gets more $$$. I had a woman tell me Friday night that I was the best waitress that she has ever had and that she used to be a waitress. She also told me she knows how hard it is and then she left me a $5 tip on a $75 dinner bill. I am so sick of cheap people. We have to tip out 2% of our SALES so when we get bad tips, it really hurts.

Kim

Disney54us - Welcome back! Was wondering about our tech guru and when she'd return. Were you on vacation? Can't remember. Hope all is well.

Don't even get me started on the tipping thing. :bitelip: That is a hot topic. I could play devil's advocate, but I don't want this thread to get locked. :lmao: Kim - hope things improve for you.

racetrack - Glad you had a good time at Hershey. Can't wait to see pics.

Magikitty - How was your wild weekend???

I think it is a combination of both. My personal rule is to tip 15% period (higher if someone went above and beyond). My daughter is having the same problem right now at her job.

Cool! I can't wait to see the pics! Sounds like you guys had a blast. We are going to Busch Gardens on July 19th with work. It should be fun, kinda my Disney "Pre-trip"

I found out that DH and DS will not be going with us to Disney this time. I'm good with it though. They were going to Universal anyway. DS coach got on him over his grades this past semister so he does not want to miss school and DH decided if DS is not going he will not have anyone to ride the big rides with so he decided to stay back too. I think they are going to try to take in a Brave's game that weekend since they are playing in DC.

I think I know what you mean about devil's advocate. I do not think that people are just to be given 15%. I will be the first one to leave less than that if I feel the service was less than good. On the other hand, if the service is good I always leave 15%. I am just not a 20% tipper and that is why I would never expect to get 20%. I think by tipping 5-10% you are saying to the server that the service was bad. I think this is unfair to the server if the person eating is just cheap, especially is the service was really good.

I have to ask, is it only a buffet restaurant? Or is there a regular menu that you can order from instead of the buffet? I might be able to get more info about the tipping situation with a description of all you have to do. I mean, I know basically what a waitress has to do but from what what I've been told, each restaurant has different requirements of what they want their waitresses to do.

We have a front restaurant that has a menu (no buffet) and then we have a restaurant that has the buffet/menu. Confusing, I know, but I alternate from one a night to the other. I will tell you that you work 10 times harder on the buffet side. I never would have thought that, but it is true. In the regular restaurant you write the order, bring food, and keep glasses full. In the buffet side you take drink orders, deliver menu items if needed, empty shell baskets, refill drinks, and clear plates as needed. The emptying of baskets, drink refills, and clearing of the plates is non stop. It is run run run on the buffet side, on the other side you bring the food and you can just stand around unless the drinks need refilled.

Does this info help?

Kim
