OK, Deadline can be by the end of July. That will give me the month of August to have them all ready for my trip in Sept.

PM, me any time you are ready to mail. BTW, I bet it will be very pretty. We are always our worst enemy when it comes to evaluating ourselves.

disney54us-- Just have to say I am blown away at how quickly you are catching up. So glad you are back.

OK........OMG, I can't believe what my son did tonight!!!!

As I mentioned earlier, my kids have been gone all week. They have been with my dad at his lake house.
They came back this afternoon.
DH and I took them out to our mall for supper and to just hang out and have fun.
We were having a great time, laughing, joking, dancing, oh and my DH has a joke that he stands in front of the manaquins and poses like them.
Too funny.:rotfl:

Well, anyway....we were walking on the sidewalk outside a store and my DH was joking around doing his Charlie Brown dance he likes to do.
A car was coming and he didn't see it.
He stepped into the street (luckily the car was going slow)
As I was actually registering in my brain what my DH was doing and about to yell watch out.......my DS (19) zoomed passed me and put himself in front of his dad. He was placing himself between the car and his dad.
He was able to push him back and get him out of the way.
Nobody was hurt.
I was just standing there with my mouth hung open wide realizing that my DS was willing to lay his life down for his father.
I am very humbled right now and tears are flowing down my cheeks as I write this.

Thanks for listening. I just had to write this down somewhere to help me process what happened. Of course I think of my TK friends first.

Have a great evening everyone.
I am going to go and HUG on my kids. I missed them this week.

Those darn kids! They get you every time. :goodvibes

Hi killers, well today was sunny and hot! There was a breeze but a little on the humid side, I'm sure it was a beautiful beach day. My Dbil brought over his 2 sons and DS and them had a good time. One is the same age as DS and the other a couple of years younger. Bqued for dinner and now back to the school week:(, well for DS, DD I have to beg for work:confused3.
Sounds like a good time!:cool1: DD has 4 more days too-Monday year book signing day,Tuesday Field Day,Wednesday Awards Day, and Thursday Talent Show (she and her friend got in).

I could go for some BBQ about now.:goodvibes ::yes::

Oh kim in all my catching up and I know you came on while I was basically MIA. I'm sorry I did not address the hard times you are going through. I see you are in the VA Beach area, My DS(sister) lived in Norfolk for years. You have real estate backround which means you are a natural at sales, dealing with people, customer service etc. Now you have that great waterfront area in DT Norfolk and gosh when I was there last the Omni was the only hotel but I know they have added more. What about something in the Hotel business, maybe working in the events dept. or dealing with Corporate accts.? Since there is competion I would think there would be depts. that go after and tend to Corp. Accts. even at the beach. It's been years since I been down there. DS moved to upstate where her DH original came from. I have read articles about the changes they have made to VA Beach it seems there are many upscale hotels and condo's. Maybe resale is off I don't know how beach sales are going but I know many get contracts with the local realtors and they have someone just selling those units. Just some thoughts, my DD had worked at the Omni god b/f they built they waterfront she was there many years started at the front desk was res. manager, then had to devise a plan when she was put in charge of valet parking and where could they actually park those cars. I just know that there are things in places that people don't realize. Funny her last few years there she was in real estate also, she worked for Judy Bloome Agency(I don't think I spelled the last name right). So just wanted to throw some idea's out there b/c I think that people who have done real estate hold many talents to offer in different job area's. I hope you don't lose your house, please contact your mortgage co. before it goes to far. Many are willing to make arrangements, since they are losing to much money now it pays for them to work things out. Also there was a act passed by the pres. so if you call they must send you paper work to fill out to see if they could lower your payments and or interest/ give you extra time etc. I know it's scary but give it a try. You are out there trying to get work you deserve the help.:goodvibes
Kim,this is Excellant advice:thumbsup2 I hope this week brings you good luck in your search for a job:pixiedust:

Disney54us:wave2:You are so right about the hotel business and about how sales skills will transfer to other great opportunities.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I wish that these companies would realize that an agent does have many job skills. Customer service, clerical, dealing with banks, lenders, contractors, etc.

It seems everywhere I go they want experience. I may not have a certain type of experience, but I am a very fast learner. Nobody will give me the chance to prove it. I am having a hard time just getting a waitress job. I can't believe you need that much experience to do that. I have eaten out a time or two and know what a waitress does.

Kim

Hi bopsmom wow trip coming soon:cool1:. I know DS's year is coming to a bittersweet end, as I have said b/f his school is closing and what would normally be the okay let's get to the end of the year is coming far to quick for most of us at school. I am having the 'yearly' picnic here. DS has always wanted to do it but when he first started there we lived about 25mins. away. The picnic is during the school day and they walk to the person's home. We still don't live that close, but since moving we are about 10min. driving. Since there are parents who attend I had told him this year we would do it.
Well no go. 4th graders have there picnic with there kindergarten buddies, which is nice. That is usually on the convent lawn, but Sister volunteered one of the moms that live within a block of the school. Thing is one this is the last one for the class and with there buddies they will be doing K approiate games and stuff. That is all fine and if they were all together next year no biggy, but since this is the last time they will have together as a class then they do need there own thing. Principal didn't want to do another permission form and liabilty issue:rotfl:, I get it. So he suggested I do it the last day. They alway get out around 10:30 am on the last day (I know seems a waste). They have mass go back get there report cards and :wizard: poof done. This year not that the kids know it yet but they are tring to get one of those custard icecream trucks to come to the court yard and give all the kids ice cream. After talking to him, I think this may work out for the better. Everyone parents and children will have a very hard time leaving this year as it is the end. So, instead of them walking away with sadness and tears, and it ends there. They can come and share time with each other and have fun.

Kim

I do feel for you, my DS had no prior hotel experience when she started at
the Omni, maybe just look into some of these. How about title co.??? You know real estate law.
Don't feel bad about the waitress thing, I think what use to be the job every one thought if I need money I'll waitress, has become harder then many jobs out there.
I'm sure you have thought of everything, just trying to think of things that maybe (especially when someone is stressed) might not think your skills apply. Serious, not that we are not nice here on TK:goodvibes, but if we can see what Real Estate skills offer, then there has to be others out there that know you are capable of the job they are offering. This isn't us just being nice, you are qualified for many jobs out there and some will realize that!!!

Welcome to the first day of the 2008 Hurricane Season.

For all those that I sent seeds too, Bet ya'll are thinkin' Hey! That crazy Texas woman has my home address. Fear not-I will not show up with my bat-poo crazy family and cat and camp in your front yard but,:rolleyes1 considering how well our government has done helping the victims of Katrina and Rita ya' never know?:rotfl2:
Hope ya'll have had a great weekend.
Check you later.:hippie:

You could come up here and we'd take really good care of y'all!! I hope we don't get any horrible storms this summer. Heaven knows FEMA can't handle it! I'd hate to think of anyone else getting stuck in one of their toxic trailers...:scared1:

Whenever I hear White Sands all I can think about is the movie Space Camp that came out in the 80s. Some kids from space camp were lucky enough to get the chance to sit in the space shuttle while NASA was testing the engines. Well, something happened and the shuttle was going to explode unless they launched it. There went the kids and their instucter into space. They missed the window to bring the space shuttle back to the normal landing site and needed to land in White Sands. I so loved that movie and wanted to go to space camp so bad!

I remember that movie. It was one of my brother's favorite movies and we must have watched it a good 100 times. I haven't seen it for a long time but I may have to rent it if it's available. I like to rent older movies that I watched when I was younger and watch them with my kids. They usually get a kick out of them too.

Good Day Tkr's I was gong to post this earlier but had to take DD out for shorts and shoes-she's outgrown everything!!

Welcome to the first day of the 2008 Hurricane Season.
This is the time of year where we on the Gulf take inventory(literally and figuratively) of what and who is important in our lives-basically because you really can't take it with you(especially if you've got to evacuate). If you saw the reports of the evacuation hell Houston went through two years ago you will understand.
We begin this season with a small storm already in the Gulf! If the crazy weather we'd all had this year is any indication-this should make for an interesting season.

I am including a site that tracks the storms so if you see one coming and I don't have time to get online you can track the storm or stories.

plus some other sites for news/weather for down here:

Thanks for those links...going to save them in my computer. I'm a natural worrier so at least I'll be able to put my mind at ease a little till you would check in. And it the weather would ever get that crazy down there and you would make the trek all the way up here, I'll help you all set up the tent. And the crazy lady part is actually a requirement for being here. :lmao:

I was just reading our local newspaper and found out starting tomorrow night, the will be filming parts of Transformers 2 here. They are filming at an old steel plant that is a few blocks from my house. They will be here for 3 nights and will be doing explosions and such. We are going to head over tomorrow and see what we can see.

good morning everyone!

i am still playing catch up, so much to comment on but i'm just going to start with the more recent stuff (when i get there. lol!).

we spent the entire weekend cleaning, and trying to organize. loads of fun. i guess i'm nesting a little. at least this time i'm not trying to do it all in the last week before the baby comes!

i may not be on until tonight or tomorrow, DH is working from home after our level 2 sonogram this morning. can you believe i'm 20 weeks pregnant already? it is going fast for me so far. although i'm sure once the summer has really hit, i will feel otherwise. especially since i feel so big already.

thinking of you all! see you later.

I was going to multi-quote everyone but I'm running out of time.
Please forgive me.

Thank you everyone for the kind words you have said about my kids and me and my DH.

Believe me, my knees are raw from the praying that I do over them.
This world has so many challenges.
Ya'll are getting to hear the good part of the story.
A few years ago, our DS couldn't wait to grow up so he could move out.
Our DD had the worst attitude towards us also.
I handed them to God. Told Him that I knew He loved them even more than us and so I was depending on Him to teach DH and I what to do.
God is always faithful.

While we are on the subject of kids....
Got a phone call from my SIL. My nephew (who I love like my own son) could possibly be getting into some MAJOR trouble. My brother and SIL dropped everything to go be with him in the state he lives in.
They were so upset, she sounded like she was having a nervous break down and my brother could not stop throwing up he was so upset.
Please pray that God would have his hand on this situation and stop my nephew from doing something stupid.
They are going to try and bring him home with them. I hope they do. I miss him so much.

Again, TK'rs I value our friendships that we have made.

OK, just for giggles and I thought we could all use a good laugh this morning.

The space shuttle actually landed at White Sands Missile Range once. They were finding sand in it for years. :rotfl2: They really HATE the idea of landing here again.

Oh MagiKitty forgot to tell what books I bought.
Two are Anne McCaffrey's dragons of Pern series. "The Skies of Pern" & "Dragon's Fire". I have to reread the series before I read the new ones. It helps the old memory and prolongs the anticipation of the new novels. ::yes::
The other two are by L.E. Modesitt, Jr. One is from the Recluse series, "Natural Ordermage". The other one is "Soarer's Choice". I just discovered I missed the fifth book in the series, so now I have to buy that one before I read this one. :rolleyes1 I can't read them out of order.
As you can tell I'm more into Fantasy than Science Fiction.

That's why I popped in here even though I shouldn't!! You guys always give me a good laugh and a smile!
Thanks!
I feel the same way. Do you have to do any lighting for outdoor shots? I saw them putting up a tent like thing when I thought you said you were working.

I'll let you all know next week how it goes.

DS after school!

lighttech
Just finished helping DS fill out a job application. He got in major trouble again. In fact, he stole some things from one of his friend's house. We had to pay the kids for the missing stuff and now we are going to make DS get a job and pay us back. We really don't know what to do with him anymore. He did apply somewhere where family works so hopefully they will be able to keep on eye on him. But I worry about him having any kind of job because of his history. Keep hoping for that turning point but don't know if we'll ever get there anymore.

Don't give up..I know you really haven't. One of my best friends had a rowdy brother but now he's always at his mom's doing things for her. I know someone later says something like this too but you do your part and God will do His. It just may not be when we want it.

Lots of Indiana Jones fans out there. I just can't wrap my mind around the idea of a 70ish guy (Harrison Ford) being a hero anymore. Shouldn't he be retired by now???
Hey--now look. There are some 50ish women out here who think he's a hunk. Besides David Cook is already taken!

Well, I saw the Indy movie and I have got to say that it isn't fair that men age so well! :rotfl2: Harrison Ford may be 65 but he is still one fine looking guy. (This comes from someone who is in her mid 30s.) Of course nobody can beat Sean Connery. Am I right?
bullwhip.gif

Thanks for the review. Don't know if I can get anyone to go see it with me. I'll just have to watch the old ones. I think Sean Connery is a little too perfect. Harrison is scruffy. :cool1:

Pikester-3 out of 5 doesn't sound bad but we'll most likely wait for the DVD. Not like that takes long anyway. Harrison Ford is alright for his age. But I would take Sean Connery anyday. Older Sean Connery though, didn't really think he was so hot when he was younger. I could sit a listen to him read a phone book.

But the most exciting thing, which I will be blogging about tonite, is the charcoal grey wool Laura Ashley size 14 suit. This has been hanging in my closet as the "goal" suit, the "someday" suit. I swore someday I'd wear it again. Now, it's a size 14. Not 14W, just a misses' 14. And last night, I put it on! It didn't fit--not even close. Can't zip the zipper at all, and the jacket is a good 3-4 inches from closing. But I had it on my body! Obviousy, 23 pounds is NOT going to be enough to get it to fit, but I'd already decided that I'm not stopping there, so there's a possibility it may actually fit someday. If not, the world won't end. But it sure would be cool!

Keep in mind that sizes are not what they used to be...measurement wise. That 14 might be considered a 12 now. Whatever---you are doing great. And we never say never!

OK, Deadline can be by the end of July. That will give me the month of August to have them all ready for my trip in Sept.

Thanks for sharing this with us. I think I would have just screamed. You should be proud.

Also did my part for the economy. Went to El Paso and bought 4 books (SciFi) , a DS game for DH and 3 $10 CPU games. We also went to the Olive Garden and a baseball game. As I mentioned earlier we saw a movie in town yesterday. I think we'll have to stay home for awhile. We blew our entertainment budget. :lmao:

My philosophy---you cannot take it with you. I think it was on the Today Show that I heard the word staycation. The tourist businesses around here hope that happens here.

Welcome to the first day of the 2008 Hurricane Season.

Sounds like a good solution. I know my school loved doing something with their reading buddies. My small school has only 1 of each grade k-5 and they have monthly activities for half a day where they divide up so each group has different grades in it. That's what I'm helping with this week.

Glad to see everyone's catching up.
for Kim's job.

Harrison Ford will always be Han Solo to me just as Johnny Depp will always be Willy Wonka. Too creepy to get past those characters. :crazy2:

Prayers to the "in trouble" nephew and his family. Hope everything turns out well.

Prayers for a quiet hurrican season. Hopefully Bopsmom doesn't have to camp on anyone's lawn.

We live in a community called Sienna Plantation (yes, it was an old plantation)
located:http://www.city-data.com/w9/bfm23707.gif in Fort Bend County(Houston is Harris County) Our only problem is not a storm surge but wind damage and possible flooding since we are very close to the Brazos River and have levies and creeks all around us so if we are on the wet side of the storm or it backs up the waterways it could be trouble.

Bet this is wayyyy more than you wanted to know about me:lmao:

Afternoon everyone. Not much going on today. I have been running errands and scanning the help wanted section again. I am still on the hunt for a job. I have sent my resume out to several places, but nothing yet.

I hope everyone is having a great day.

Shmu, I've done the same with my kids. The hard part is trusting God and not trying to "take back" the problem (seems to be my biggest challenge...)

Praying for your nephew. And I LOVED that baby! Reminds me of DD's laugh when she was little. She would just throw her head back and laugh and it was like the most beautiful music I'd ever heard. Ah, those were the days...

I was in NYC today. Interesting day. For the full story, you can read my blog, but the super short version is that I had an MRI of my knee and saw the ortho, and I'll be having a total knee revision in January. So, plenty of time to plan ahead.

I think trying to solve/help the problem ourselves is a lot of our (my) problem. I also think that's what makes us caring TKers.
If you don't think about what they are actually doing to your knee, it's a pretty neat operation. You have the determination to do the physical therapy and that's the hard part.

Racetrack: This was Jr. this weekend--. I'm sure you heard me crying. I'm glad I didn't go. It would have been a long afternoon.

Good Evening!
I will try to stop by tomorrow and join in the conversation. and .

Toodles!

Here is a smilie or two for laughs

Sorry, to make it up to you, I did find this cool Jr one from last year....

Just took a quick peek to see if anyone was on tonight and look what I found. Thanks for the special Jr. I needed cheering up after that wreck! I'm trying to not be hot and it's not working. I just do not want to turn on ac and waste electricity but I may have to.

Question for everyone...Do you go to the beach or the shore? My cousins in VA tease me that I say it wrong but I sent them a postcard that said greetings from the Jersey shore.
