Oh yea...

For anyone who was following my Daycare Saga.

DSs last day at the babysitter was Friday, and he officially starts the YMCA on Wednesday. (Actually, I'm going to take him for a 1/2 day on Tuesday so that I can get the paperwork filled out, get all of his stuff there - change of clothes, naptime sheets, etc- and let him have a short day to get acclimated.) He's super excited about "Going to school." I'm nervous, of course, but I do feel pretty comfortable that we're making a good decision for DS. At this point, I think its just the change thing. We've had our routine down for 2 yrs now, and DH and I need to settle into the new schedule. Plus, I know it will be a big adjustment for DS, but I think he'll be happy. :cutie:

I'll let you all know next week how it goes.

lighttech-I like watching summer storms too but I certainly could skip the part with the high winds. Oh, it's almost daycare time. I just bet your DS is going to do great. He'll be so excited to tell you all about his day and his new friends. I'm sure that will make you smile. And for the nervous mommy part.....

disney54us-I'm so sorry you've had to go through all this stuff with DD. You are such a great mom and so strong to deal with all this. Think I would have lost it a few times with all you had to go through. Take care of yourself too. And like lighttech said, just jump right back in. We'll fill you in along the way.

Just finished helping DS fill out a job application. He got in major trouble again. In fact, he stole some things from one of his friend's house. We had to pay the kids for the missing stuff and now we are going to make DS get a job and pay us back. We really don't know what to do with him anymore. He did apply somewhere where family works so hopefully they will be able to keep on eye on him. But I worry about him having any kind of job because of his history. Keep hoping for that turning point but don't know if we'll ever get there anymore.

Hey Killers, I think I will try to bring you all up to date and then go back and try to join in.

Nite Nite all!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay killers and the saga continues......:rotfl2:

My sky has opened!!!! and we have a tornado watch. Guess this is a good day to play catch up:goodvibes.

We also have a tornado watch here, and we've just finished a storm of torrential rain, thunder and lightning.

I'd post more, but after reading disney54us's posts, I am so tired I need to go take a nap!:lmao:

Okay slowly catching up:cool1:.
So Happy belated Birthday to your kids Magsnden, Congrat's on feeling the babies move Lighttech and Magsnden.
Racerchick and M&N:rotfl2: gosh I'll have to catch up on Nascar too! New more when DN was living with me. She was really into it and she loved Jr and DS and her would have a competion going. Sorta like you guys. Even when she moved back to KS She or DS would call each other during races to rub in if their favorite driver crashed.
Glad magikitty you were able to put up a link. Thread Killers Untied??? Can someone explain? Cute but as usual I don't get it. Did I miss something on the last few pages of the old thread?? Still have to read the last of those.
Pepper, Shamu, Lighttech and Racergirl Sinus Problems!!!!!Ughhhhhh. Sudifed makes you tired??? That has to be a first.

You know, speaking of gas prices...I'm kinda bummed. I bought a Highlander Hybrid because I was only getting 16mpg on my Sienna (which I adored, by the way--best car I ever drove!) and I just couldn't justify that anymore. So I went with the hybrid, expecting the EPA estimated 25-27mpg. But I'm only getting about 22 mpg. What's up with THAT??? Is it the way I drive? Did they not test it in NJ traffic? I mean, I could have gotten a regular Highlander and gotten 19 mpg, and saved a TON of $$$$.

I didn't choose the hybrid to save money so much as to save gas. I've become much more environmentally conscious, and therefore responsible, lately. But I'm really NOT saving much gas, and I'm certainly not saving much money! One or the other would have been nice.

My next car is gonna be an Avalon. A nice sedan. Hybrid? Maybe, maybe
Wonder what it is to fly to Disney????

Okay here's the scoop on hybrid's. It is only in Hybrid mode when you are going 25mph and under, so after that it kicks in to regular and you are not using a hybrid car. I guess the bottom line is that people don't realize they really don't save you much on gas. If it was city driving with low speeds and stop and go that's where you would see a difference. So it does cost quite a few thousand more for a hybrid and you don't really see a savings.
Read your post on your journel, I just have to say:hug: what a great perspective you have and Happy Aniversary on life:goodvibes.

I got my baaggg :woohoo: ! I got my baaggg:woohoo: !

I am so excited because I got my Donner Baagg today! It wasn't suppose to get here until Monday.

Oh yeah! Hello everybody!

This is a really cute smilie.

Yeah I know this is late but how exciting a new bag. I never realized how much though Dis'ners put into there trip:confused3.

That's right! You click on the smilie and it takes you to the website it came from. Here are the two I've been using.

and

Whoo Hoo! This was my first ever multi quote! :cheer2:

Multi quote I can do (most of the time):rotfl:, but if those smilies aren't right next to my post I am lost as usual.

Oh Yes he did!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:
Yeah Bleaker bit the dust!!!!!

I will try to get her a pair and talk her in to trying them...maybe lol. She said they reminded her of "clodhoppers" whatever the heck that is lol.

:rotfl2: it's a mom word!!!!

Ok, all this smiley talk just seems too technical for me. I didn't even know about the add programs feature. Living happily in ignorance over here....

ditto:thumbsup2

Okay, this is probably going to sound insane lol, but I am going to go and buy her each one of your suggestions. :rotfl:

I am also going to get her some sandal called Teva that I just read about too. So, I'm off to the mall

The birkenstocks are gonna kill me financially, but by golly she is the bet Mom ever and she deserves to have fun without her feet hurting. She hates to shop so I know she won't do it herself.

See yall later. :goodvibes

Your a good daughter, teva's they are suppose to be comfy!

Hello everyone, my name is Kim and I was invited to your thread by Pepperw23. She told me that everyone was the nicest bunch of people here.

I post alot on the community board, camping board, and the theme park board. I am always looking for new and interesting threads to read and post on. I have read through alot of the thread and everyone seems very nice.

I just wanted to say hello and to thank Pepperw23 for the invitation.

Kim
Hi kim :welcome: aboard, by now you've been here a while, but I didn't want to miss a chance to give you a 'official' welcome:goodvibes

Good Sunday everyone!

:welcome: Kim! So good to meet you. Hope you decide to stay.

Pikester...you're more than welcome to have a TK banner! Now, if I can only figure out how to get it to you....give me some time. It took me ages to get it myself!

Ok, guys, my day has been ruined. My SIL informed me today that my father's first wife and my older sister have decided to come to NY for my niece and nephew's high school graduation. It is putting it nicely to say that we do not get along. Both of them are openly hostile to my mother, my sister, and I. My older sister will only see my father alone. The first wife is a drama queen and is sure to cause a scene. I'm heartbroken, I love my twins so much and am so happy to see them graduate. But I can't risk the incident if the two sides of the family show up at graduation, and can't take anything away from the day from my twins. Its a mean, spiteful act on their part. They're the kind of people who are only there for the triumphs, who enjoy the good times. My nephew told me he'd rather have us there, but I told him not to worry about it. We'll have out own celebration at another time.

I'm trying to be a nice person and stay positive for my eldest brother and his family. He's in an awkward situation; it is his mother also. I do kinda wish he'd grow a set and do the right thing, stand up for my mother and father. After all, we're the ones who have been there for each other all these years. His mother only comes around when she wants something. My SIL and even the kids are dreading this visit, and I can't help at all except step back and let them enjoy as much as they can. I haven't told my own mother yet, I'm dreading it. The twins are the first grandchildren to graduate from high school, and essentially she is being forced out. She's already taken the day off from work, this is going to get ugly.

Thanks for letting me vent. I just want to scream I"m so mad about it all. But I have to put on a brave face for the twins who already feel so bad. Grr...some people are so selfish. I wish I could say that for the kids' sake we could all put on a brave face and attend the graduation together. But my SIL said that basically the mother said there is no way for all of us to be in the same room together. Is it wrong to want to kick an old nasty woman?

Families!!!! Gotta love them. Don't you worry it's not nasty to want to give her a kick in the pants:rotfl: She may be older but seems she hasn't grown up!

Okay slowly but surly I'm caught up to page 12:cool1:. Now if everyone would just stop talking :lmao: I might get to 30 something b/f summer:rotfl2:. Not now though DS and his friend have been waiting to get on the computer.
Talk to you later killers!!!!!!

Hello, friends, I see that the weather has also confined many of you indoors and to the computer. Maybe Pikester had the right idea by planning a movie day! (btw...let us know how it was!)

disney54us...in anticipation of the original thread's locking, we started to discuss the possible names of the next thread. Instead of Re-United, or part 2, or anything of the sort, we voted for a play on letters "Untied!" Funny, huh? Sorry to hear about the issues with DD's asthma. I do hope the beach time welcomed respite for you both. I hope that you can work things out with the school and get things on track for the rest of the school year.

Lighttech....congrats on the daycare! Good luck to both of you! The little guy will love his new school.

Racetrack...sorry to hear about the problems with DS. I think your approach to having him pay you back is an invaluable lesson that everything has ramifications. And its not always fun, but it a necessary thing to learn. I hope you can find the best way to deal with the summer job.

Ok, done procrastinating (for now). Really should get my reading done, but this kinda weather just makes me want to crawl back into bed and watch movies mindlessly.

lighttech-I like watching summer storms too but I certainly could skip the part with the high winds. Oh, it's almost daycare time. I just bet your DS is going to do great. He'll be so excited to tell you all about his day and his new friends. I'm sure that will make you smile. And for the nervous mommy part.....

Sorry about trouble w/ DS. But, I agree w/ Kitty. You are teaching him a good lesson by having him pay it back. :wizard: Pixie dust and good thoughts that I hope the job goes well and teaches him a little about responsibility.

Honestly, I think you're the one adding the most number of pages!!! :lmao: :lmao: You may be intimidating yourself as you post! Take a break from responding... we'll forgive you. You can probably wait until you at least get to page 25 and just give us some responses to the current things... At this rate, you'll have us on the 3rd threadkillers thread before you finish! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Well, break's over... gotta get back to work. So, I'll check in when I can. Going for a hike tomorrow for most of the day, then hanging w/ DM on Monday, and taking DS for his 1/2 day at the new school Tuesday, so I likely won't be on for a few days.

Here's a random smilie before I go... :duck: I'm no good at hunting from other sites, but I do find them addictive, and I haven't noticed this little guy before.

Happy Saturday Everyone!

Sorry about the
raincloud.gif
weather. Hope things are clearing up.

Weather here is finally nice. About 75 and sunny! My perfect weather.

Racetrack - Sorry to hear about your son. It's great that you're making him get a job and take some responsibility. :thumbsup2 I've got a son like that only he's 10. I dread the next few years.

Lots of Indiana Jones fans out there. I just can't wrap my mind around the idea of a 70ish guy (Harrison Ford) being a hero anymore. Shouldn't he be retired by now???

hey ladies!

sorry i haven't been on in a while, but just wanted to check in once before we go away for the weekend. we're driving down to n. carolina and will be back on tuesday.

i barely skimmed this page... whgrn - i hope you and DD are doing ok, i will keep you in my prayers.

have a great weekend everyone! i'll see you all in a few days!

Lucky you N. Carolina, can't wait to hear about it!!

Morning all. I haven't been able to check till today because I've been very sick. Thought I was getting better but ended up at the hospital on Tues night with a ruptured eardrum. I'm on antibiotics now and making a slow recovery. Just wanted to let you all know that I am still around.

Way too many things to comment on right now. I'll try to check in later.

:scared1: ruptured ear drum??? How did that happen, I know I read some pages back that DD brought you a cold from her Disney trip. Hope your feeling better:hug:.

Ok, so I'm an idiot. All worried about money and what do I go do? I make another ADR for Raglan Road. It wasn't all my fault. Someone generously posted about a $25 off $50 coupon to eat there, and since I wanted to anyway, I figured this is a good excuse! Meant to be!

I haven't told BF yet, I may have to wait until after he gets over the David Cook thing....

Anyone eat there yet? I've read really good things but was wondering what my TKers thought!

Have never eaten there but the recipe board that I go on (haven't for a while) there are many recipes from there. One of the regular posters has a connection and they send her tons of recipes. They look so good, check out the thread there are pic's or as you like to say 'food porn':rotfl:. It is on the restaurant board the one called the official Disney Recipe I think it's up to 900+ recipes.

WE'RE HOME!!!!!!!

The doc thinks Laura's problem may be her medication, so he decreased the dosage a bit, and will drop it a little more after a week. Then we go for an office visit and EEG on June 4 to see how it's going. Hopefully this will be the answer we're looking for!

So, now that DD is taken care of, naturally DS has to create an issue. Apparently he got his hands on the writing journal of a boy who had moved away, and he took out a page and was reading it on the bus and making fun of the spelling errors, etc. (like HIS spelling is any better!!:lmao: ) So I got a call from the Guidance Counselor about that. Consequence is no bus next week--I will drive him every morning. He is NOT happy! GOOD! Then, in aftercare he got in trouble. Why/ He told off a 2 year old!! Yup. He built a sand castle on the playground, and someone's baby brother accidently knocked it over, so DS (11 years old, BTW, but the size of an 8 year old) yelled and screamed at the poor baby and made him cry!. I blasted him good about that, and took away his electronics priveleges. He's got to learn to control his temper--jeez, he's soooo much like his father it's scary.

We're planning a quiet weekend. The washing machine repairman is coming tomorrow AM to figure out why my clothes are still soaking wet when they get through the washer. Then BFF and her kids are coming, and we hopefully will take the kids to the new Narnia movie. Sunday they're with their father, and Monday we're going to my parents' for a BBQ. Other than that, I'm a mean mom and I'm going to make them CLEAN!!!

Pepper, sorry you're sick! Hope you feel better soon.

MK, I never ate at Raglan Road, but I've heard rave reviews from all over. It's a definite for my next trip to WDW.

So glad they figured out what was going on with DD:hug: for her.

Hello All,

Enjoying our "staycation" this weekend. Not using the cars for 3 whole days!! Got our BBQ stuff ready. Bought a new grill - Webber kettle grill - got to have that charcoal taste or its not a BBQ  so no gas/propane for us. If the temps get above 60 this weekend I plan to spend it on my patio.

Magikitty - We like David Cook too. Glad he won. Must have been all your votes. ;) There is a Chocolate Fest in Burlington, WI this weekend. Thought you'd enjoy that
Sorry that everyone is Hope y'all recover soon.

Okay...so I started this "Thank a Vet" thread in hopes of honoring those who have given their lives (either literally or figuratively) in service to our country. Thought more would visit and thank someone or remember someone dear. However, I've only had about 4 posters and 2 of them told me (in a nice way I guess) that Memorial Day is just for those who died in service. While I fully understand the meaning of Memorial Day, I also thought we should remember those whose lives will never be the same after serving in combat, etc. who, in my opinion, ALSO gave their "life" for our country.
Kinda disappointed. :sad1:

What a great thought for you to start a thread like that. I agree I don't think you were trying to be disrespectful you were trying to honor all those who have served and fought for our freedom:thumbsup2.

Good evening everyone. I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far.

I wanted to ask a question. There is this man who I see sitting by the side of the road all the time about 1 mile from our house. He always has a sign that says he is a retired Vet and will work for food or money. He has a doggie that sits with him. I have no way of knowing if he is a Vet or not, but I do know he must be down on his luck.
I see him all the time and have always wanted to stop and give him a few bucks. Well, today I did. I don't care if he is a Vet or not, he is a person in need and I am glad I could help. I would have loved to given him more , but until I find a job, money is very tight for us right now. The way I figured, he is probably worse off than me. He is a very friendly man and appreciated what little I could do for him today.

I just like to help where I can. Would anyone else have done what I did or am I just a big sap?

Kim
How kind of you and no your not a sap, just a caring person:goodvibes.

Good Morning
Lucky you getting to take the kids out of school for a trip-that is totally taboo in our District-they consider it unexcused and won't let them make up work for "unexcused" absents.

We are going for Christmas too.:santa: but after looking at everyone's tickers I don't see anyone going at the same time. (12/20-12/26-BW,1br,BWV) if you are and I missed it-tell me!
We are actually, kinda avoiding Christmas at home and taking DM with us.
We have been for Thanksgiving before and loved the decorations then.

Has anyone taken the Decorations Tour that is offered? I Love to decorate and so does DM-DD is :furious: because she is not old enough to go on it. I thought this might be a fun tour getting to see the warehouses, etc but wondered if anyone else has taken it.

We are going to drive (15 hours from Houston):faint: and even thought of staying a day or so at Universal? Any recommendations-do you think it will be too late to get a reservation there? I have never been to Universal.

I hope you are all getting good weather. :beach: and enjoying their weekends and family:grouphug:

My cilantro is in seed now,the lettuce is bolting, and we are fighting the racoons for tomatoes-we don't mind sharing but, it has got to quit "washing" it's food in the pool!
Has anyone else gotten something sprouting?
All the herbs you sent me are sprouting and growing need the basil to pop a bit more. Planted a small veggie garden cucumbers, peppers, baby egg plants and a few varieties of tomatoes.
:scared1: I don't know what I would do with a district that has unexcused absence. I'm one of those who do take my kids out of school and the teachers have always be fine. It is a shame that some parents 'ruin' it for others. I remember when DS started at the school he is at now (he started there in 2nd grade) In the handbook it had this whole thing about being absent and trips. When DH and I met with the principal who use to be at DD and DS's old school. I said umm we do take him out to go on family vacations, I read your policy is that going to be a problem? He went on to tell me that it would be fine, he had the policy put in the handbook since there were a few parents that were a problem with absences and lateness. Then he said he has done the same with his 2 sons.
:rotfl2: racoons washing there food:stir:.

I do feel lucky to be able to take the kids out of school. I know there is that whole debate "to take the kids out" or "to not take them out". I figure I'm the parent and I'll make the decision that is best for my kids. Both of my kids do very well in school and will be able to play catchup when we get back or the teachers are usually nice about giving extra work the week before so they can get a little ahead and they have the kids keep journals during the trip. Atleast they did the last time we went. Not sure what the teachers for the next school year will do. This will be our last "take the kids out of school" trip though. Once my oldest gets into 6th grade I think taking him out would be to disruptive to his schooling. In my district, there are no excused or unexcused absences at the elementary level. That starts in the High school. I'm sure there must be some sort of policy for kids who miss tons of school but I was unable to find anything in the handbook and since my kids don't typically miss a lot haven't had to deal with anything.

I hope none of what I have written above sounds cranky or angry. When I was typing it out I was doing so in a nice voice in my head!:rotfl: You can never tell how someone is going to read what you post.

The raccoon washing his food in your pool!

In DD's HS you can have 12 absences a year, so vacation would go into the 12 and though it is not excused as long as your total is not over 12 for the year your fine. You do have to bring in a letter that Sister has to see then get every teacher to sign off on it and bring it back. Basically the make the students go through pomp and circumstance but it is 'allowed' just not during exams or retreats.

OOH! I went to Turks and Caicos years and years ago in college. We stayed at Club Med--we liked the idea of all-inclusive. We also liked that it was such a short trip by plane. We actually got "kicked out" of the country--we were so excited we hadn't filled out our paperwork properly and were actually asked to get back on the plane and fill it out! We chose that resort because it was geared toward a more adult crowd--at the time anyway. It was so beautiful! The sands, the water and the most amazing sunsets I've ever seen. What fun you'll have!

Man, when I was in school, we never had teacher conference week! Whgrn, since you're from there, what exactly is Jersey week? Is that the same teacher conference time?

Wow I know someone who was kicked out of a country:lmao:, Everyone on the boards call it Jersey Week b/c some many people from Jersey go, since there is this 4 day weekend even if you stay longer your kid may only miss 2 days of school and you can be there for a week.

Hey Magikitty-thanks for asking.
I am kinda getting there. There is still plenty to do.
After spending months planning, getting ADR's, making "tour booklets",making journals for DD and her BFF,making tee's for DD etal using Amy's artwork, grocery lists for WegoShop, printing tons from TGM and a bunch of other stuff-sans the help of the rest of the "party" I am kinda burned out.

I have had to step away for a couple of weeks to not start dreading the trip. I am actually having a hard time getting "restarted" for shipping things down for the OL.
Christmas will be better, cooler, and DM has been with us before and will be more than happy to help with the planning part.
:hippie:
Just came back from ordering my new Prius-I may have it in 2 months, but it's got everything I want on it-I think, since there wasn't one to even look at at the dealership.I may have to go back to my old:moped:days.
DD is happy it is green
:hippie:

Wow your first trip 'home' let me know how you like wego shop that Marge right??? Many use her and I think from what I can see her system is better then Green Grocer.
Hope you get your ump back. I say this to all, sometimes over planning just takes the 'magic' out of it. Sit back and let some things just happen. You never know what little surprises happen when you are least expecting or didn't plan for it:goodvibes.

Well, I saw the Indy movie and I have got to say that it isn't fair that men age so well! :rotfl2: Harrison Ford may be 65 but he is still one fine looking guy. (This comes from someone who is in her mid 30s.) Of course nobody can beat Sean Connery. Am I right? Any who, I have heard many different reviews about this movie. Some good. Some bad. I thought it was pretty good. It was a little corny but aren't the others? Indiana is always looking for things that may or may not exist; so in the end what he usually finds could be real. I don't want to say to much because I don't want to spoil it (unless you all want me to) for those of you who still want to see it. I'm glad I didn't pay full ticket price to see it but my DS10 was happy with it. I give it a 3 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 out of 5.

Before the last thread was locked up we were sharing the idea of everyone sending me a pic and I can make them into a Flat "Enter your Name here". Then, when MagiKitty and I meet on our trip, we can take a "group" picture of everybody.

So following is a list of everyone who has followed us over to this thread.

PM me a pic or PM me and I can send you my email or address. I'll take the pic and make it into a Flat ?.

You can do a head shot or full body, but a head shot might work better. I can take your full body shot and make it into a head shot.

I guess I could send you a pic. But I warn you, it won't be pretty! :scared1: Let me know when you need it by and I can PM you for your mailing address as I have no idea how to email it to you.

Pikester-3 out of 5 doesn't sound bad but we'll most likely wait for the DVD. Not like that takes long anyway. :rotfl2: Harrison Ford is alright for his age. But I would take Sean Connery anyday. Older Sean Connery though, didn't really think he was so hot when he was younger. I could sit a listen to him read a phone book. :hippie:

disney54us-DD's cold turned into a sinus infection which turned into fluid in the ears and bingo the eardrum ruptured. Haven't felt pain like that in a long time. But it's getting better, I just won't be able to hear right for a couple of more weeks.

Actually, most of my driving IS in town, stop & go. I wasn't looking so much to save money as to save gas. It's not saving much...

The weather here ended up very nice after about 3:30 pm. But before that, I was outside (in the rain) getting a temporary fence put up along our regular fence (which the dog can walk right through, hence the need for the temporary one...) I was sweating like a pig, soaked from the rain, and filthy! Came in and took a shower and felt sooooo good! BFF and her kids came later, and we were gonna BBQ, but my grill died, so we cooked inside. But we ate outside on my porch, overlooking my beautiful new backyard (which I will photograph as soon as it's 100% finished, and post here).

Last night I was trying on some clothes in my closet. Once again, things I thought would fit are already too big, and things I expected to be too small do fit. I think there are 2 pair of pants that fit in the waist but are too small in the legs, but everything else fits. I put on a jacket that is 16 years old. It fits perfectly. Of course, it's SO early 90s, I'd never actually wear it out of the house! But the most exciting thing, which I will be blogging about tonite, is the charcoal grey wool Laura Ashley size 14 suit. This has been hanging in my closet as the "goal" suit, the "someday" suit. I swore someday I'd wear it again. Now, it's a size 14. Not 14W, just a misses' 14. And last night, I put it on! It didn't fit--not even close. Can't zip the zipper at all, and the jacket is a good 3-4 inches from closing. But I had it on my body! Obviousy, 23 pounds is NOT going to be enough to get it to fit, but I'd already decided that I'm not stopping there, so there's a possibility it may actually fit someday. If not, the world won't end. But it sure would be cool!

Our weather cleared up pretty nice too. Got to send the kids outside for a little and at least got the kitchen cleaned. Even though your "someday" suit didn't fit yet (and yet it the important word here), it sounds like you are well on your way to having it fit. Keep up all the great things you have been doing and you'll be there before you know it.

Hey everyone!!!

Just popping in to say hello. I am feeling much better, but have had a horrible week!!!

My Grandfather died on Sunday, then my Husbands partners Mom dies (we have known them for years), then yesterday they found a mass in my Dads lung. I am trying not to panic just yet because it is still early. My Mom said the Dr. said it could likely be Lung cancer, but they will not know more until next Tuesday when they do his Bronchosope. Everyone please pray for him. His name is Roger. Pray for my Mom too. First she loses her father, then the find the mass in my Dads lung.

On top of all that, I am really upset for Kim. You guys please pray for her. I have met her and she is a really awesome person!

So sorry to hear this prayers and:hug: are with you.

Yeah, I think he will love it and once you become comfortable you will love it to. Here's to your big school boy.

disney54us-I'm so sorry you've had to go through all this stuff with DD.

Thanks but it seems you've been going through a lot too! I send us a big:hug: and lets hope things start to settle down. Well you and DH did the right thing by making him get a job and pay you back. If he doesn't learn something it won't be b/c he doesn't have two devoted parents trying to teach him:goodvibes.

We also have a tornado watch here, and we've just finished a storm of torrential rain, thunder and lightning.

I'd post more, but after reading disney54us's posts, I am so tired I need to go take a nap!:lmao:

:rotfl2: :rotfl: though your month has had quite a bit of excitement and not always the good type.

Thanks for explaining now that I've caught up on this at some point I want to read the last few of our beloved thread. Thanks for the well wishes hopefully it will all work out.
by the way though I did'nt multi on all you cracked me up w/the pages of post about your future DH.
Gosh I missed this thread.

Thanks!

Oouch :(, but don't worry we can go with Thread Killers Undone for the next one. Sorry just couldn't help myself.
Good luck on DS's first day :goodvibes.

Wow I can't believe that. How painful!! Are you still in pain?? how bad is your hearing for now??

I get that, but you are in a surburban area and most speed will be 35mph on average. Compared to city traffic where you can crawl most of the time in traffic, so then the car would be in Hybrid mode. Once you kick out of 25 you are running on a regular engine and not saving gas which in turn will save money. I just see many buying into this Hybrid thing and they don't realize they will not be getting more MPG unless the are going 25 and under. State and local spend extra bucks for going green but when a PD car is on the highway it is not in Hybrid mode and not saving on gas and they just spend alot more for it.
So Hybrid is great if someone wants to save the planet but if they are expecting savings to show up in usage of gas in most cases they will not see it. If someone wants to do it to 'go green' (sorry I am sick of hearing that pharse, since it's all over the place can we say over used and done) then they should look at a flex fuel vehicle. Flex fuels are not less per gallon but if they want to save the world it is clean burning. Just don't want you spending more on your Avalon if its not giving you what you expect. That being said they have started making many vehicles even some of the 'gas gusslers' more gas efficient.

Thanks for doing this... sounds fun, and I'll try to get you a pic soon. Can you give us a deadline? (I tend not to do anything unless I know I'm running out of time... :rotfl:
OK, Deadline can be by the end of July. That will give me the month of August to have them all ready for my trip in Sept.

I guess I could send you a pic. But I warn you, it won't be pretty! :scared1: Let me know when you need it by and I can PM you for your mailing address as I have no idea how to email it to you.
PM, me any time you are ready to mail. BTW, I bet it will be very pretty. We are always our worst enemy when it comes to evaluating ourselves.

disney54us-- Just have to say I am blown away at how quickly you are catching up. So glad you are back.

OK........OMG, I can't believe what my son did tonight!!!!

As I mentioned earlier, my kids have been gone all week. They have been with my dad at his lake house.
They came back this afternoon.
DH and I took them out to our mall for supper and to just hang out and have fun.
We were having a great time, laughing, joking, dancing, oh and my DH has a joke that he stands in front of the manaquins and poses like them.
Too funny.:rotfl:

Well, anyway....we were walking on the sidewalk outside a store and my DH was joking around doing his Charlie Brown dance he likes to do.
A car was coming and he didn't see it.
He stepped into the street (luckily the car was going slow)
As I was actually registering in my brain what my DH was doing and about to yell watch out.......my DS (19) zoomed passed me and put himself in front of his dad. He was placing himself between the car and his dad.
He was able to push him back and get him out of the way.
Nobody was hurt.
I was just standing there with my mouth hung open wide realizing that my DS was willing to lay his life down for his father.
I am very humbled right now and tears are flowing down my cheeks as I write this.

Thanks for listening. I just had to write this down somewhere to help me process what happened. Of course I think of my TK friends first.

Have a great evening everyone.
I am going to go and HUG on my kids. I missed them this week.

Aww, Shmu, you brought tears to my eyes too. From everything I have read about your kids, they sound like wonderful people. It is a testament to how wonderful you and your DH have been with them. Please don't take this wrong way, but it makes me sad...kinda. What you write about is what DH and I want to have with DS. We have such a good relationship with the girls but haven't reached that point with DS yet. What you write about gives me inspiration to keep trying and to never give up. I truly believe that we'll get there but it's just going to be a long road with many twists and turns. Thank you for just sharing with us.

Greater love has no man than this, to lay down his life for his friend. Go hug your DS from me too! WOW!!! You must be so proud of him, and well you should be. He's a good kid.

I agree. Can I send MY DS to you for some training? Heck, he'd throw me in front of the car before he tried to protect me.
