Well, I saw the Indy movie and I have got to say that it isn't fair that men age so well! :rotfl2: Harrison Ford may be 65 but he is still one fine looking guy. (This comes from someone who is in her mid 30s.) Of course nobody can beat Sean Connery. Am I right? Any who, I have heard many different reviews about this movie. Some good. Some bad. I thought it was pretty good. It was a little corny but aren't the others? Indiana is always looking for things that may or may not exist; so in the end what he usually finds could be real. I don't want to say to much because I don't want to spoil it (unless you all want me to) for those of you who still want to see it. I'm glad I didn't pay full ticket price to see it but my DS10 was happy with it. I give it a 3 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 out of 5.

Totally agree. I enjoyed the movie too.

Actually, most of my driving IS in town, stop & go. I wasn't looking so much to save money as to save gas. It's not saving much...

The weather here ended up very nice after about 3:30 pm. But before that, I was outside (in the rain) getting a temporary fence put up along our regular fence (which the dog can walk right through, hence the need for the temporary one...) I was sweating like a pig, soaked from the rain, and filthy! Came in and took a shower and felt sooooo good! BFF and her kids came later, and we were gonna BBQ, but my grill died, so we cooked inside. But we ate outside on my porch, overlooking my beautiful new backyard (which I will photograph as soon as it's 100% finished, and post here).

Last night I was trying on some clothes in my closet. Once again, things I thought would fit are already too big, and things I expected to be too small do fit. I think there are 2 pair of pants that fit in the waist but are too small in the legs, but everything else fits. I put on a jacket that is 16 years old. It fits perfectly. Of course, it's SO early 90s, I'd never actually wear it out of the house! But the most exciting thing, which I will be blogging about tonite, is the charcoal grey wool Laura Ashley size 14 suit. This has been hanging in my closet as the "goal" suit, the "someday" suit. I swore someday I'd wear it again. Now, it's a size 14. Not 14W, just a misses' 14. And last night, I put it on! It didn't fit--not even close. Can't zip the zipper at all, and the jacket is a good 3-4 inches from closing. But I had it on my body! Obviousy, 23 pounds is NOT going to be enough to get it to fit, but I'd already decided that I'm not stopping there, so there's a possibility it may actually fit someday. If not, the world won't end. But it sure would be cool!
:thumbsup2 on the goal suit and the clothing that's too big or now fit. ::yes::
Disney54us your past few weeks :faint:
Shmu a  and a :thumbsup2 to your DS.
racetrack18kb  for you dealing with your DS. Can't give advise since I can't deal with my own DD. :headache:

DL55- right back at you. It's a tough road but some of us have to do it. Gotta stick together. How old is DD?

OK, Deadline can be by the end of July. That will give me the month of August to have them all ready for my trip in Sept.

PM, me any time you are ready to mail. BTW, I bet it will be very pretty. We are always our worst enemy when it comes to evaluating ourselves.

disney54us-- Just have to say I am blown away at how quickly you are catching up. So glad you are back.

OK........OMG, I can't believe what my son did tonight!!!!

As I mentioned earlier, my kids have been gone all week. They have been with my dad at his lake house.
They came back this afternoon.
DH and I took them out to our mall for supper and to just hang out and have fun.
We were having a great time, laughing, joking, dancing, oh and my DH has a joke that he stands in front of the manaquins and poses like them.
Too funny.:rotfl:

Well, anyway....we were walking on the sidewalk outside a store and my DH was joking around doing his Charlie Brown dance he likes to do.
A car was coming and he didn't see it.
He stepped into the street (luckily the car was going slow)
As I was actually registering in my brain what my DH was doing and about to yell watch out.......my DS (19) zoomed passed me and put himself in front of his dad. He was placing himself between the car and his dad.
He was able to push him back and get him out of the way.
Nobody was hurt.
I was just standing there with my mouth hung open wide realizing that my DS was willing to lay his life down for his father.
I am very humbled right now and tears are flowing down my cheeks as I write this.

Thanks for listening. I just had to write this down somewhere to help me process what happened. Of course I think of my TK friends first.

Have a great evening everyone.
I am going to go and HUG on my kids. I missed them this week.

First, thanks but I am so blown away by what your son did!! You have every right to be proud and emotional. You now no what you have worked so hard for has paid off!!! The love you have given he has shown you he heard you. Loud and clear!!!

DL55- right back at you. It's a tough road but some of us have to do it. Gotta stick together. How old is DD?
Unfortunately she's 23 with no sense, no car and no job. She's moved back in and I'm trying real hard to put some sense into her. I was hoping she would have learned from her mistakes since she won't listen to me. :confused3

Greater love has no man than this, to lay down his life for his friend. Go hug your DS from me too! WOW!!! You must be so proud of him, and well you should be. He's a good kid.

I agree. Can I send MY DS to you for some training? Heck, he'd throw me in front of the car before he tried to protect me.

Don't under estimate thelove you have given your son, underneath what he is going through, he knows the love you've given him and right from wrong:goodvibes.

Totally agree. I enjoyed the movie too.

Thanks!!! As far as your DD I was just talking to my BFF and we were dicussing how much we go through with our kids and how tired we can get.
In the mist of all I wrote I also was trying to help her with her DD who is suffering with mental health issues so I did a few runs to be with her at the Crisis Center. I've known her since DD was 4 her daughter is a year younger actually that was DD's first 'official' B-day party from school to be invited to.
As the girls b/c older they had different interest and friends but we have remained close and are there for each other. It is just so hard and heartbreaking when our children are suffering. to you and you will get through †his.

DL55- right back at you. It's a tough road but some of us have to do it. Gotta stick together. How old is DD?

You always have the right attitude!!!:thumbsup2 Your so committed and it will pay off for the better:hug:.

disney54us-I finally made some ADR's for my upcomming trip. We made one at Sci-Fi since I thought it would be fun for the kids. It's for lunch one of our days there. We also made one for Olivia's on Thanksgiving since I wanted something off the beaten path, so to speak. Don't really want to deal too much with being in a park that day.

DL, maybe being back will help her. You have tried and now she is back I'm sure she realized her way of life wasn't working so now maybe she is ready to get on the right track. We're here for you:goodvibes.
Okay killers I am so glad to be caught up and back in touch, time for me to go to the porch and have a :smokin: and go to bed. I know, I know it's on my list of things to do, but for now out to the porch.

racergirl, cool wow Olivia's I'll be staying at OKW and there is a now departed TK'er (not departed as in dead) ;) that will be there maybe we can have a Dis meet. Sci Fi, tried to get in there once but no go looked like fun. I think the kids big and small will enjoy it. Need to do some†hing I'm below 180 out and that is there busy time.

She sounds alot like my brother ( the one with wacky wife). He's 8 years younger than me but it sure feels like a lifetime. He had alot of problems with the growing up part but that I truly think is because he is the baby of the family. I'm guilty of it too but I try to throw words of wisdom in there too. He's getting better but it's been a long journey. It seems like you are trying to push her in the right direction. That's something my parents never did and I bet that will make the world of difference with you DD.

disney54us-Oh, definately meet up!!! Who is the "departed" tker? Come on, you gotta share. even if it's privately. Missed you too and so glad you are back. Night. See you in the morning.

WOW SHMU!!!! You must be so proud of your son! He sounds like a wonderful young man and you can sit back and be proud to know that you have raised him to be a caring human being! I am so glad no one was hurt.

BTW, Gonna have to see a video of the Charlie Brown Dance!!! :hyper:

Hello, everyone. Looks like we're going to have a keeper of a day, no rain predicted. It got really nasty here last night! Lots of wind and the rain was pounding at the windows.

Reading last nights posts were both so funny and so touching. Everyone saying goodnight to each other reminded me of the Waltons ending where everyone yelled "goodnight!" to each other. Such warmth and solidarity in dealing with trials and tribulations of raising children. It is so amazing to see how everyone deals with it and their hopes, dreams, and the occasional nightmare thrown in.

Shmu! Your son did such a brave thing. I'm really not surprised, considering the wonderful stories you've shared with us about your children. You've raised amazing people. What quick thinking! They deserve big hugs and so much more.

Whgrn...congrats on the clothes! Its like shopping in your own closet with wonderful surprises! I haven't really gotten the summer wardrobe out, so I need to see how things fit....ugh. Not looking forward to it. Did try on bridesmaid dress and that fits just fine. Although I did order online this super industrial shaper panty. It actually has flaps on the side that you latch in the front, kind of like a bra closure. I showed it to BF, he says it scares him. I just want to smooth all my lumps and bumps.

Indy, was good, huh? I'd so like to make it to the movies sometime. I have so much back up work to do, I don't think I ever will! I have to get so much done today so I can fully devote myself to wedding dress shopping in the next few days with girlfriend. I've never done this before. I'm packing snacks.

Good day to everyone! And enjoy the fine weather (if you have it) and stay safe.

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. :)
I read the local paper and they have the police activity (small town :smokin: ). I read a 21 yr old arrested for trespassing stated he was homeless. I thought it was so sad that he didn't have anyone. Of course it could be his choices that he made. I just don't want my DD to be unable to take care of herself. I won't be around forever. :(
Enough of the sad stuff. It's going to be 100 today and probably for the next few days.:beach: We have the beach (White Sands Natl Monument) but not the water. Also did my part for the economy. Went to El Paso and bought 4 books (SciFi) , a DS game for DH and 3 $10 CPU games. We also went to the Olive Garden and a baseball game. As I mentioned earlier we saw a movie in town yesterday. I think we'll have to stay home for awhile. We blew our entertainment budget. :lmao:

Oooh, DL55....what books did you get? I just got a $5 coupon in my email from Borders and I'm salivating thinking about what I can get....

100 degrees! That's crazy talk! :goodvibes

Hi killers, well today was sunny and hot! There was a breeze but a little on the humid side, I'm sure it was a beautiful beach day. My Dbil brought over his 2 sons and DS and them had a good time. One is the same age as DS and the other a couple of years younger. Bqued for dinner and now back to the school week:(, well for DS, DD I have to beg for work:confused3.

Oh kim in all my catching up and I know you came on while I was basically MIA. I'm sorry I did not address the hard times you are going through. I see you are in the VA Beach area, My DS(sister) lived in Norfolk for years. You have real estate backround which means you are a natural at sales, dealing with people, customer service etc. Now you have that great waterfront area in DT Norfolk and gosh when I was there last the Omni was the only hotel but I know they have added more. What about something in the Hotel business, maybe working in the events dept. or dealing with Corporate accts.? Since there is competion I would think there would be depts. that go after and tend to Corp. Accts. even at the beach. It's been years since I been down there. DS moved to upstate where her DH original came from. I have read articles about the changes they have made to VA Beach it seems there are many upscale hotels and condo's. Maybe resale is off I don't know how beach sales are going but I know many get contracts with the local realtors and they have someone just selling those units. Just some thoughts, my DD had worked at the Omni god b/f they built they waterfront she was there many years started at the front desk was res. manager, then had to devise a plan when she was put in charge of valet parking and where could they actually park those cars. I just know that there are things in places that people don't realize. Funny her last few years there she was in real estate also, she worked for Judy Bloome Agency(I don't think I spelled the last name right). So just wanted to throw some idea's out there b/c I think that people who have done real estate hold many talents to offer in different job area's. I hope you don't lose your house, please contact your mortgage co. before it goes to far. Many are willing to make arrangements, since they are losing to much money now it pays for them to work things out. Also there was a act passed by the pres. so if you call they must send you paper work to fill out to see if they could lower your payments and or interest/ give you extra time etc. I know it's scary but give it a try. You are out there trying to get work you deserve the help.:goodvibes

Someone left?

Not left, was you know can't say the word;) . I'm talking bout what our siggies have.

Yep, I remember quite a few nights that we had that 'goodnight john boy' thing going on:goodvibes. We always had fun.
Wedding dress shopping :cool1: I think:confused3.

Oh gosh my DN's grew up in White Sands, I think I mentioned to you that before. DB was in the Military and there was another place you mentioned where my DB would keep his horse.
Don't worry she'll get it together while your around to enjoy it:goodvibes.

Your daughter sounds so much like my younger sister. When my sister was in her late teens and early twenties she just didn't get car payments or how to keep a job. She thought my parents were useless unless she needed money or a place to stay. I can't say that she is much better now even though she has a significant other and 3 kids. I think the last time I talked to her was at Christmas time. I feel bad but I am just so tired of trying to maintain a one-sided relationship with her. I hope your daughter catches on a lot quicker then my sister.

Whenever I hear White Sands all I can think about is the movie Space Camp that came out in the 80s. Some kids from space camp were lucky enough to get the chance to sit in the space shuttle while NASA was testing the engines. Well, something happened and the shuttle was going to explode unless they launched it. There went the kids and their instucter into space. They missed the window to bring the space shuttle back to the normal landing site and needed to land in White Sands. I so loved that movie and wanted to go to space camp so bad!

Good Day Tkr's I was gong to post this earlier but had to take DD out for shorts and shoes-she's outgrown everything!!

Welcome to the first day of the 2008 Hurricane Season.
This is the time of year where we on the Gulf take inventory(literally and figuratively) of what and who is important in our lives-basically because you really can't take it with you(especially if you've got to evacuate). If you saw the reports of the evacuation hell Houston went through two years ago you will understand.
We begin this season with a small storm already in the Gulf! If the crazy weather we'd all had this year is any indication-this should make for an interesting season.

I am including a site that tracks the storms so if you see one coming and I don't have time to get online you can track the storm or stories.

http://www.click2houston.com/hurricanetracker/index.html

plus some other sites for news/weather for down here:
http://www.click2houston.com/hurricanes/index.html

If
I will just have to check in from a remote INLAND location.

For all those that I sent seeds too, Bet ya'll are thinkin' Hey! That crazy Texas woman has my home address. Fear not-I will not show up with my bat-poo crazy family and cat and camp in your front yard but,:rolleyes1 considering how well our government has done helping the victims of Katrina and Rita ya' never know?:rotfl2:
Hope ya'll have had a great weekend.
Check you later.:hippie:
