OH. Bopsmom... I'll PM you as soon as I get a chance. DS and DH started gardening last summer (I've always enjoyed it, but I try to leave the herbs to them, it was a great father/son activity), and they really enjoy it. I'd love some seeds. Thank you!

And, good for you w/ the all organic. I try to do the same. I refuse to use any chemical pesticides or herbicides. And, I'm in love w/ vinegar as a weedkiller on my walk. Gets the little ones between the bricks, and makes my walk smell like a salad! :rotfl:

I caught up last night but too tired to post. Lots always happens over the weekend. It's great we're getting Dis vets here. I looked at post counts and several of us are getting closer to that 500th post. I'm making my speech already to make sure I thank all the TK's. Actually, I looked and I've only killed 4 threads this month so far! :woohoo:

Lighttech--glad you're ok. Please thank DS for all those smilies. Tell him it made my day.

I know we've talked about being positive in the past so I want to share some things from my WW meeting last night. It was called Do you have ANT problems? It was about Automatic Negative Thoughts. We always have thoughts about our behavior and what we think leads to what we do. We think, feel and then do. So we need to stop our negative thoughts. We only got 5 of the 10 steps but I'll share what I have. 1). We need to acknowledge and appreciate the positive past. 2). We should use positive self talk...I can messages. 3). We should acknowledge and build on strengths. 4). We should clarify our vision and purpose. 5). We should set measurable goals and objectives. They should be small and about behavior. I know it may not seem like much but the discussion really helped me with my thoughts about my weight but other things too. Just wanted to add that you all are so positive toward all of us and our situations. I know MaggiKitty started us off with a cute title and theme but it's developed into a very positive, caring group.

I'll get off my soapbox...pixiedust: pixiedust:

Did someone say tulips coming up? They're still using the s word here.

oh, Bopsmom, I've sent you a PM. As I said, I've not much luck in the gardening department, but I always try! The only reason I have perennials is because I enlisted the help of a dirt-loving nephew who dug up my yard in order to plant. I would love to try so plant fresh herbs. They always say on the cooking shows to use fresh stuff. I could use all the cooking help I can get!

M&N...thank you so much for sharing those words with us! Its all so true! Especially for those of us that are women (where is Blamemysister lately???), we just go into that self-deprecating mode and don't think about how lucky/blessed/wonderful we are every day. I've tried to be positive for Lent...its been difficult but also wildly satisfying. And with spring coming (:rotfl2: :rotfl2: ) its just makes is so much better to face each day with a positive smiling soul.

glad to hear you're ok Lighttech! And hello to you too, little Lighttech!

I got that Disney Visa offer too! I just got my card a few months ago, and I'm waiting (hoping) for offers for this fall. Even without free dining (but we're still hoping), I think BF and I would like to try to attend F&W at EPCOT this year. Sounds something right up our alley, although not friendly to the waistline. Thing is, I love to torture BF with new ethnic foods that he wouldn't otherwise try. I don't get how he can love a pizza so much.

Still stepping along. Just been trying to get on it as often as possible in small increments, just trying to increase the number to steps every time. The novelty has run out for my kitties. They don't even pay attention to me anymore when I do it.

Happy day and hopefully approaching spring-like weather to everyone!

can you guys tell me about the visa offer? i have a visa but have not heard anything yet. did you get it in an email, or the regular mail?

what was the offer for again?

i'll send you a pm too, bopsmom. i LOVE to garden. i'm not exactly great at it, but i always plant vegetables in the spring, and some herbs. usually just parseley and basil. this year we even grew some watermelons! they were so delicious. i have some pictures of mags eating some, i'll post in a little bit.

apparently, dennis loved them!

we wound up with about 5 edible ones, and i guess i didn't take any pictures of the really red ones. maggie was just so excited to eat them, we cut this one a little too early!

That's the best way to eat watermelon...bite it and spit the seeds!
I'm ready for some. I almost got blown over during walk...and that takes a strong gust. :rotfl:

M&N Thanks for the steps. I should really think about them. :eeyore: is my favorite for a reason. :rolleyes1
magsnden that watermelon sure looks good. :goodvibes

Bopsmom, I'll PM you too! Of course, I'll probably kill the plants (black thumbs, you know...) but I'm determined to grow tomatoes this summer, even if it kills me, which it might!:rotfl: So some fresh herbs would go very nicely with that.

lighttech, does the vinegar between the bricks really work?!? I've never heard that before. I'd MUCH rather use vinegar than Roundup! Ecofriendlier and MUCH cheaper too!

I hear you M&N--I was nearly blown away this morning walking into the grocery store! And that takes a real GALE!!!:lmao:

Later killers...

Ooooh...I so envy those of you who are experiencing spring weather. Can't wait for that here. The winter from h*** continues. The pattern seems to be snow...thaw/rain...frigid temps...more snow.
It is Wisconsin's turn at the voting booth today. Oh the agony!

I knew there was a reason I like everyone here. So much in common. I am also into gardening. Love to grow tomatoes, cukes, beans, and peas. Also love flowers. I am also one of those women who would rather spend money on plants than on jewelry. I go crazy in April and May during planting season. Never tried herbs before. Might be interested in cilantro to make homemade salsa.
lighttech - I Would also like to hear more about vinager for weeds.

Magsnden - Love the watermelon pics. Forgive me if I missed it, but did you grow those?

M&N - Thanks for sharing the positive booster. I've been reading a lot of books about appreciating life (90 Min in Heaven) and finding out your purpose (Eat, Pray, Love). Maybe I need to go to WW meetings too.

I think we should all plan to get together some day and meet in person. Maybe a girls vacation to WDW??? Girls retreat of self inlightenment????
Think about it?

D&D...I just read Eat, Pray, Love too! I actually brought it with me on vacation in the Phils. I spent many mornings on the patio reading, travelling, living with the author. I thought it was a great book, so inspiring But I always believe in signs, that God is telling me somthing. A friend of mine claims I'd be a great Buddhist (his religion). There's just so much good out there, you just have to open your heart to it.

Mmm...watermelon. Adorable pics of the babies Magsnden! Did you ever get the details of the Disney Visa offer? The link is on the dis site news on the Disboards homepage. Basically, free upgrade to hoppers and waterparks if you book your vacay with Disney Visa through May.

I agree that this has been the craziest winter! We're more of a snowbelt, but we've had so much ice and wind this year. No hope for spring yet here, flurries this afternoon with big gusts.

We should get together! And wear matching shirts with "thread killer" on them...that'll definitely get us attention.

magsnden-those are great pictures. I don't like watermelon but it always reminds me of summer and nice hot weather. :beach: :sunny:

M&N-those steps you wrote about really got me thinking about ways we can approach the problems we have with our son. The other children too but more so with him. So I sat down a wrote out a plan of attack for everything that is going on here. I need to shoes these to DH too because he can have a negative attitude also. I hope you share the rest of the steps when you get them.

lighttech-:wave2: to your son...loved the smilies

D&DDisney-that sounds like a wonderful idea. mmm, wonder how I talk DH into this ;) :rotfl:

MagiKitty-No Disney Visa here so no offer. But F&W Festival sounds like a great time to go. I always check out the dining board around that time of year just to look at the pictures....no harm in that, right :goodvibes

good morning to everyone. finally a beautiful sunny day here, but i think it's pretty cold out there. i haven't been out yet.

lighttech - i forgot to say
:dogdance: :3dglasses  :santa: :moped: :hyper2: :shamrock: :charac4: :butterfly :fish:

to your son! how cute he stopped by to chat with mom's friends!

dreamin -- did you say you don't like watermelon? huh?:rotfl:
what a great outlook you have about your family. always keeping an open mind to new ways to deal with DS. it really shows that you want to help him.

m&n - please do share the rest of the steps when they come. it really is all to easy to fall into the negativity trap. and sometimes it actually takes work to find the happy in something (or someone).

let's do it! let's get together!! there are a couple of logistical problems, though. :rotfl2: i know where we should meet, ;) but i don't see how i'll manage to sneak out of the house without the rest of them. hmmmmm......i'll have to work on this!

ok i'll finish my quoting a little later, kids need me again!

Feeling kind of deep this morning.
MagiKitty, I believe in signs too.
I am doing something this week and I am already blown away and it's just Wed.
I am starting each day praying to God about many things, but asking Him to open my eyes to let me "See" His work. I do not want to become blind to it.
Yesterday morning I just sat in my quiet house and listened. The wind started blowing and all I could hear was the rustling of the leaves in our backyard.
I was reminded that God speaks with a still small voice but we have to be still so we can hear Him.
I am trying to be more "still"

On a lighter note.
YES, I'm in on the T-shirt thing if we can ever have a gathering.:thumbsup2

real GALE!!!:lmao:

Later killers...

Yes, but they have double strength available at some gardening centers that I'd like to try. I'm going to look later and try and post some links for all who were interested.

I really like the idea of being "still." I need to incorporate that more into my life. No matter what your religious beliefs, its always good to be still and listen for the peace in the world.

Thanks everyone for saying "hi" to DS. I'll pass it on.

Gotta run... very busy today. We have a HUGE new set going on tonight for all of our gardening stuff.

Shmu...what a beautiful moment. Thank you for sharing.

Afternoon all...I have an exciting evening of laundry planned. I had my "old maid" cart at the grocers today: 60 lbs of kitty litter, 30 cans of cat food, pot roast, and sorbet. oh my. I'm even sad for myself.

Good Evening Killers!!! Okay, been gone for a couple and I decided I am going to work backwards. Multi quoting that is. Been up to my elbows in baby powder scent and wax, and keeping UPS in business trying to get all these packages out to arrive in time for the DN's Shower.

Hey TK'rs

I'm in from the gardens, it's been raining since 1 this afternoon, but since there was no lightening, we continued on. I have a wonderful crew, a guy who started a landscape business out here and he always gets me the help I need.
DH does NOT get his little manicured hands dirty-but he pays for these guys to come help.

Don't worry ya'll I think I have enough Basil and Cilantro for everyone. Send me all your addresses, and I will also work up a surprise for you.:) DD wants to make a present for the kiddie gardeners in your families. (offer ends on 2/22/08)
FYI, we will be in our second growing season in May when ya'll are starting to plant for summer and I will have even more seeds for you guys.

I am so happy to share:yay: It's nice to know that seeds from plants I grow down here will have a home with my friends.

I have donated many plants to the New Orleans Audubon Park and Botanic Gardens when they lost almost everything in Katrina. I even went to visit some of them :)
I grow experimental for the county and for a friend that is a grower for the area.

Newsflash, DD got 2nd place in Science Fair:woohoo: go girls-(her crush got first but he said he was "gunning for her" and did a really good project comparing detergents). She still represents our school in county and that is great!-go girls!!!:yay: :yay:
The boy that won first asked if maybe next year, since they both like enviromental studies, they should work together. :rolleyes1 score on all sides! I told her boys like smart girls!!!!
More later,
Gotta get a bath!:)
